Dream car revisited 6 May 2005 (Forum)
Subaru Outback 3.0R until someone in Europe makes a slightly raised (not SUV) superb handling (not SUV) grand tourer with room for five. As I've said before, when Volvo, Merc, BMW etc make a prestige MPV with all the driving qualities they are known for but do not include in their SUVs then I may consider one...until then hello Fuji Heavy Industries. -- Espada III - well if you have a family and need a Lamborghini, what else do you drive? -
Advice needed over court decision 5 May 2005 (Forum)
SWMBO had her court case today for driving without due care and attention. Unfortunately she had not seen a motorbike as the tree lined road makes things a little hard. The biker hit the car at relatively low speeds and got up and walked around (until 10 mins later some pain came). -

Another Renault Clio starting problem 2 Feb 2005 (Forum)
But I'm not totally sure whether this is the same problem. When cold my clio (which is a 1998 S-reg 1.6 RXE) starts fine, but, if I drive somewhere then leave it for half an hour or so, when I come to restart, the engine starts, but idles at very low revs, almost stalling, and very shaky. It happened again today, and I let it run for about 5 minutes, didn't seem to get much better, but managed to drive back to work, at first it seems very reluctant to accelerate at it's usual rate, and then it suddenly kicked into action. -
Help - Rover 200 electrics 1 Feb 2005 (Forum)
Work fine on continuous, but again if turned off half way through sweep they dont return. 2) Blower speed on 1 and 2 does not work - 3 and 4 do but is like driving in a gale when trying to demist car. 1 hasnt worked for months and then driving along today 2 has broken as well 3) Strange misfire until car has warmed up. Seems like chugging and running on 3 cylinders (expect electrical but dont know where to start replacing things). -
New Driving Licence, - what's the point? 10 Jun 2004 (Forum)
SWMBO and I finally got ourselves organised and applied for and received our new licences, with our current addresses on, only some 16 months after we... -
lane discipline 25 May 2004 (Forum)
The fast lane is used for what it is supposed to be for - not a car park - and the speed limit is 75 and hardly anyone drives at more than 80 - and needless to say I saw no one undertake. I had the most relaxing busy motorway drive of my life and no hold up's. Anyone who stays in a lane when they should move over who is observed by the traffic police is given a ticket and fined on the spot. -
Smug Lane Disciplinarians 23 May 2004 (Forum)
You'll be behind one in the fast lane and they'll keep zipping in and out of the middle lane, as if they think they can single-handedly correct others' driving behaviour. If I thought I could improve peoples driving habits I would. However, it simply isn't going to happen. Some of you are probably saying "that's not the attitude" or "people learn from others' example", but let's be real. -
Insurance and MOT 20 May 2004 (Forum)
My car was stolen off my drive by joy riders and was recovered by the police, they took it away as evidence and for finger printing - i haven't seen my car but from what they have said it sounds like it may be a "write off" as it was involved in an accident and they continued driving it when the front wheel tyre came off... anyway cutting a long story short, i have been in contract with my insurers and they asked if i had an up to date MOT certificate, at the time i thought it was still valid, having now had a look at it, it is a 6 weeks out of date!! -
consequences! 5 May 2004 (Forum)
even possible court hearing? He is starting his journey in holland (getting HULL ferry) and i presume will drive through germany to reach bulgaria. Also, will officals in Hull stop him as no tax on the screen will be a give away sign? -
Small Automatics - Why Not? 9 Apr 2004 (Forum)
Small four door autos just don't sell big-time in the UK," My wife, daughter and daughter-in-law all drive small automatics(Yaris, Polo & Civic) even though they have full licences. They are not motoring enthusiasts and the appeal to them is simply the ease of driving. They are usually driven in 'shopping trolley mode' so the slight penalty in performance & economy is not a problem. -
VW Golf TDI Gearbox fault or Clutch? 8 Apr 2004 (Forum)
On Saturday afternoon, I lost reverse gear & could only get this back by switching off the ignition & then changing gear. On Sunday,Reverse gear was OK but 1st & 2nd didn't work. They seemed to engage OK , but no drive. 3rd & 4th were OK. I didn't try 5th or 6th. I managed to drive it down to the dealers in 3rd gear but their first diagnosis was 'Sounds like the Clutch' . Is that possible? I hadn't had any slippage before or now & the car does go into 3rd & 4th OK. -

MINI Adventure. Tyre press.warning light 7 Mar 2004 (Forum)
Looks it up on computer and sure enough it should have been. Goes back in a week later due to parts not in garage. Has the job supposedly done. Friend drives car for half an hour and yellow \"You have a puncture\" light comes on on dash. Tyres checked, no probs. Light usually / sometimes comes on after driving about half an hour. Obviously no tyre problem. -

Complacency over safety 23 Feb 2004 (Forum)
The police have admonished him of all blame but that doesn't bring these people back. My friend was driving a Mondeo and walked out it with minor bruising. I for one, will have a serious rethink about the cars I drive and how important is it to have electric windows, air con etc, as opposed to having a car that I can climb out of after an accident. -
Honda Accord diesel 6 Feb 2004 (Forum)
Went for a test drive this morning and I was impressed. There have been various reviews of this engine, one said it sounded like a taxi and others have remarked on how quiet it was. The car performed like one with a petrol engine, but without the revs. -
Best car for 10k 19 Jan 2004 (Forum)
I value comfort and a good driving position, and I like a bit of space, and I have a limit of around 10k to 10.5k tops. -
Trapped wind 12 Jan 2004 (Forum)
Strikes me as the perfect second car for driving around town and shopping. If compressed air sources were available it could even do long range journeys. Servicing costs are also said to be much lower than a 'real' car. Over a five years you could save many thousands of pounds in fuel and servicing costs.
