  • Omega 2.5 V6 Oil in spark plug recess 23 Oct 2003 (Forum)
About 5000 miles ago I towed my caravan for about 30 miles at about 60mph. When I stopped for petrol I noticed a slight blue smoke coming out of radiator grill. Upon looking under bonnet I could see about one teaspoon of engine oil on tray beneath cooling fan.
  • Citroen DS3 - Frontal Damage Repair Cost 12 Aug 2019 (Forum)
Hi All Wife has a DS3 in purple and some clown has managed to reverse into it with a tow bar fitted or similar and drove off,  damaged the front bumper, chrome grill insert and the radiator. Looking at best option rather than going through insurance as excess is £650, all suggestions welcome.
  • Best panel van 7 Apr 2018 (Forum)
I am looking to get my first van - mid sized panel with limited budget.  Been looking at vivaro/trafic/primastar or ford transit custom.  The van needs to tow as well.  I have had mixed advice so far.  What do I need to look out for or avoid - and what is the most reliable optio?  TIA
  • Clio 11 1.9dti - Relay blown 4 Jan 2016 (Forum)
Engine won't start no warning and glow plug light. Called breakdown was told that a relay had blown, towed home. The relay box is by the battery and relays look hard to get at. First question. Do I need to remove the relay box?  Second question. Which one is the fuel pump relay and glow plug?
  • Citroen C5 - citroen 18 Dec 2012 (Forum)
had the car from new, less then 2 years old 15,000 miles on the clock. On the dual carriageway, clutch failed. Car towed back to main dealer who said it was not covered under the warranty and i had to pay £650 as it was considered to be "drivers misuse". Only 2 days before i had it in the dealership for its service.

  • Seen anything unusual/awesome part IV 23 Sep 2011 (Forum)
I will kick off another of these, as they get tend to get very lengthy. Today, on the M6, coming out of Forton services, I saw a green QTvan being towed by a sort of motor-trike thing with a shell on it to shield the driver from the rain I suppose.  The trike thing was also painted green!
  • Ford Galaxy - max milage on a clutch, offers? 13 Apr 2010 (Forum)
Cos I got 215,000 on mine & it is still good, despite occasional heavy (3500kg) trailer towing, a lot of town stop start driving, plus 300miles of using in lieu of brakes, ie down through the gears. Mind two adolescents learning may just be its death knell. Cheers M
  • Nissan X-Trail (2001 - 2007) - 06 2.2tdci Lack of Power 18 Dec 2008 (Forum)

  • Citroen Xantia VSX Rear Suspension 6 Jun 2005 (Forum)
Right, where I'm at now is that the front rises and falls spot on, whereas the rear falls ok but will only rise once I start to jack it up on the tow bar so I'm guessing something is getting stuck at the rear? Anyone got any ideas at all? When The Going Gets Tough, The Tough Get Going!
  • £99 towcar 6 Jun 2005 (Forum)
Though I've no doubt it will soon feature...) Suggestions for a car, for a £99 budget, that will do a few heavy tows in the short term. I dare say that it will have to come from eBay. It needs a life expectancy of not very long; it needs to pull like a train & it needs, of course, to be roadworthy.
  • N Reg Punto 1.1 snapped cambelt 19 Jul 2004 (Forum)
My nephew has called me today to say that he broke down whilst traveling at about 30 mph. The RAC have towed him home and diagnosed it as a snapped cambelt and the car is probably scrap. He has only had the car for around six months and is heartbroken. What is the likely prognosis?
  • Insurance 7 May 2004 (Forum)
I thought a few BR's might be interested in this. My lad crashed his car on the 28th April, his fault. Direct Line responded very quickly, car towed away within the hour. Good people on the telephone. Car inspected and condemmed. Cheque for payment of car in today's post. Excellent service. Mind you he'll be paying a premium for a few years but that's life.
  • Diesel chipping - vw passat tdi 6 Sep 2003 (Forum)
Could anybody comment on the results and subsequent reliability of the engine and drive train? This is not for speed but to permit easier towing of a camping trailer in the mountains. Thanks for your help
  • imobiliser + bump starts 19 Mar 2002 (Forum)
I got accosted by a Greek man with a Rover 400 with a flat battery last night. He asked me for Jump leads which I didn't have but I tried giving him a tow. Car turned over OK but wouldn't start. We decided it was the immobilser that was preventing it starting. Is it possible to bump start a car with an immobiliser, if so how?
  • Toyota Auris Touring Sports - Rear mounted cycle carrier 28 Jul 2015 (Forum)
I'd like to fit a rear mounted cycle carrier on my Toyota Auris touring sport hybrid- Toyota quote £840 , £840 for a 2 cycle rear mount. Is there another solution ? I'm assuming that because my car isn't designed to tow, there maybe no towbar bracket etc
  • Two flat tyres due to pothole - what to do? 1 Apr 2014 (Forum)
Edge of carriageway was damaged, and the car suffered two flat tyres (both passenger-side tyres) They are brand new ~£110 tyres (fitted last week). Car was towed home. Not sure if the tyres would be a write-off? How do I tell? Is it worth getting the car checked out for other damage?
  • Motoring under the Tories - will it be better? 14 Oct 2008 (Forum)
Will there be a return to lower fuel taxes, more road building, fairer VED and less gatsos? Or are they just going to tow the 'green' line like all the other misguided, gullible, ignorant, arrogant, narrow minded, short sighted, interfering hippy lunatics?
  • Nissan Tino 2.2 Diesel - Good? 12 Feb 2007 (Forum)
Hello all, I' m considering a Nissan Tino 2.2 diesel as a relaible, no nonsense, no fuss, get in and go, carry the baby gear, carry the mountain bikes, tow the trailer, a2b mobile. Fancied the Toyota Verso, but at pushing 3k more for the same plate I backed off. Any comments on the Tino? Cheers, Madun
