Does living on a hill save fuel? 9 Aug 2007 (Forum)
I live about 3/4 of a mile up a lane with a drop of 35ft approx to the junction where it joins the "main" road. Not much granted, but the engine has an easy time for that 3/4 of a mile and the fuel computer reads in the 40s mpg in summer by the time I reach the junction. The engine's still not hot but it's getting there. On the return journey I'm doing the "climb" with a hot engine. So - am I saving fuel by living on this miniscule bump? -
Peugeot 106 2000.Is it the fuel 11 Mar 2007 (Forum)
hi there, just hoping to confirm something.Since filling at tesco in basingstoke i havehad probs when accelerating. It tends to cut off and then go.But has not stalled. The engine warning light is on.I am aware of the fuel contamination.I phoned peugot. They told me that this model does not have a catalytic convertor,so the best way to get it sorted is to fill it up with high octane fuel at Bp so it dilutes. So my questions are is it true that there is no cat. convertor and would the diluting work -
1995 cavalier 1.7TD fuel problems 26 Jun 2005 (Forum)
I had an earlier post about oil levels and smoke in this car... I have changed the oil and fuel filters and also replaced the oil. Now my car wont start. I think it is an airlock. I have filled the fuel filter with diesel prior to fitting. The engine ran for a short while then started to labour before cutting out and now it wont start. -
VW tdi fuel filter 20 Jul 2004 (Forum)
Evening All, My VW Bora tdi has lost power. It's perfectly driveable but has lost a lot of oomph. I'd like to change the fuel filter just to see what difference this would make. How do I do this? I've located the filter, but I imagine I would have to depressurise the fuel system before tackling the job. This is the bit that I need information for. -

Diesel fuel additives 12 Jul 2003 (Forum)
I have used Millers Diesel Power Plus for many years in my 11 year old Passat. Skoda discourage use of fuel additives on the basis that engines are designed with modern fuels in mind. I would be grateful for your opinions on whether it would be a good thing to continue using this product in the new car, a waste of money or positively a bad move. -

Any - Fuel Prices 24 Jun 2025 (Forum)
Not wishing to instigate a political debate, but are we expecting fuel prices to rise as a result of Saturday night’s US air strikes on Iran? I see now that Iran are threatening to close the Strait of Hormuz, through which 20% of the world’s oil passes. -
All - E10 fuel 9 Aug 2021 (Forum)
With the E10 fuel now being foisted onto us. Its a given that mpg is worse even the RAC and Which acknowledge that. So has anyone found any "snake oil" additive to reclaim the lost ponies? And is it turbo and Cat safe? -

fuel figures 3 May 2012 (Forum)
The EU fuel figures are ridiculous. However the U.S. government publishes figures which are much more realistic, and compare well with the honestjohn realmpg website. Look on www.fueleconomy.gov . -

Vw golf mk5 1.9 tdi - Fuel pump problems and some 16 Mar 2019 (Forum)
Also today the car kind of struggled to start and shook a bit but started nevertheless...is this a problem to do with the air mass fuel sensor, spark plugs or the fuel pressure regulator? And it's due a service so this weekend I will put fuel injector cleaner in then change fuel, air and oil filters and I think maybe the spark plugs will need to be changed also. -
Mercedes ML250 - Help....Fuel System Needs Replacing? 14 Nov 2014 (Forum)
The car has been in to the main dealer 4 times, they have tried various things but failed to find the problem. They have just rang to say there are iron-filings in the fuel, this is caused by the some part of the fuel system (pump?) breaking up and must have been due to a mis-fuel (i.e. I’ve put petrol in a diesel engine) and a lack of lubrication. They say this is the cause of the stalling and the Mercedes warranty is obviously therefore invalid. -
1997 Peugeot 306 XTDT - Starting issues with hard to crank and big smoke 19 Mar 2010 (Forum)
Apart from number one son driving into a river in Queensland and filling the motor full of water he has had the spare fuel injector pump fitted, bent rims, had serious fuel problems etc and I am about to get the car back. My first concern is to find out why the fuel bowl has to be used to pump the fuel up after standing overnight.
