  • Citroen Berlingo diesel van - citroen berlingo diesel won't start HELP PLEASE 7 Nov 2011 (Forum)
hi guys I'm a newbie on here and getting desperate, bought a non turbo berlingo van in bridlington and drove it back to leeds about 60 miles, next day went 3 miles and sods law timing belt went, got another engine and box from a running van that had been hit up the rear, van master tech guys from a ford main dealer fitted new timing belt and the engine and for three weeks have been trying to get it going with no luck, they have had diagnostic machine on and shows no faults, they seem to have tied it down to no fuel, the fuel gets to the pump but is not coming through, there is a minor fault showing a problem with intermittent earth I think from ecu ( but don't quote me i am speaking from memory ) but they have by passed that and still same fault, we have the old fuel pump from othe engine but apparently to swap it you have to remove the engine again, so was trying to determine if there was anything else it could be, any help would be very much appreciated
  • Peugeot 106 1.5 Diesel - Any ideas why this struggles to start? (video) 16 Sep 2011 (Forum)
v=O2CVF6lvfSQ It was doing this before, tha car has never run right ...I'm guessing it's the fuel injectors, or the fuel pump.. Is it easy enough to diagnose the problem? At the moment the fuel has been in for 8 months, & I have added 5 liters of fresh diesel. First thing in the morning, it just turns over and over without any cylinders firing for 100 turns...
  • Hyundai Tucson - Tucson diesel fuel consumption 18 Mar 2011 (Forum)
Because of my  location, coastal/rural with appalling roads, it ticks all the boxes for my present needs and is clearly a straight vehicle in every respect as, at present, it belongs to the wife of one of the directors, so no worries on that score. I am a little concerned, however, about fuel consumption of this model which seems to have been a bone of contention between owners and Hyundai. The official combined mpg is quoted as 39.2 but I have read reports of owners achieving only 22/23mpg even taking into account the fact that the trip computer works in US gallons.

  • Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 01 1.8 Please help... my car won't start 21 Nov 2009 (Forum)
I had used it about an hour previously and all was fine. The starter motor is turning over and she is trying to start, but no fuel is getting through. I've checked some things and have managed to rule out the fuel cut-off switch, the relay, a particular fuse that seems to be a problem with Focuses, and have changed the coil pack.
  • Honda Accord USA Coupe (1998 - 2002) - 01 2.0 Starting Problems 31 Jul 2009 (Forum)
It started first time as soon as the weather cooled when it rained (approx 5 pm). A friend has suggested that it is probably the fuel pump relay . Can anyboby help with the position of this on a v6 engineand what it looks like .How easy to change and any web link where I could buy a replacement . I would also welcome any suggestions of the fault ,if you think it's not the fuel pump relay.
  • Renault Espace (1985 - 1997) - 93 2.1TD stalls on return journey 7 Mar 2009 (Forum)
It looks as is there is a problem when the engine cools down, but does not get fully cold. The car has new fuel and air filters, most fuel lines are new and a recently replaced injection pump. Fuel comes from a variety of filling stations. When the car runs, it is a fantastic vehicle to drive, it is becoming too stressful to use on regular journeys with a short turn-around time.
  • Vauxhall Astra G Petrol (1998 - 2004) - 03 1.6 LPG for dummies? 29 Apr 2008 (Forum)
Or is there any kind soul who could explain how it all works! I know how to fill 'em up OK, but the finer points of the Vauxhall Dual Fuel is the gap in the knowledge. There is a switch to swap between petrol & LPG - does the LPG kick in straight away, or is it after a delay? Also how does the fuel gauge work? Allegedly it reads both petrol & gas on the same dial but I cannot fathom how.
  • Vauxhall Vectra C (2002 - 2008) - Diesel Fuel Quality 30 Oct 2007 (Forum)
If my tank of ordinary Shell diesel contained water or particles then surely diluting it with 30 litres of fresh diesel wouldnt make the slightest difference. Ive generally used Shell fuels believing them to be one of the better brands but is this a quality problem or something else?
  • Renault Scenic (1999 - 2003) - Idle Erratic 1.9 Dci intermitent fault 22 Oct 2007 (Forum)
Cause: Dirt in fuel pressure regulator on rear of H.P fuel Pump. Repair: Remove main engine cover Plastic. On rear of pump you will see a round unit with a multiplug on it with a terminal plug. Remove the 2 torque Bolts, and slowly pull out the regulator (reg) check "O"rings are not split, if there are you can get these from Local Lucas Deisel Centre's and no need to replace the complete unit.
  • Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 2000 (W) 2.0 HDi Economy - locked thread. 9 Oct 2007 (Forum)
Can a damaged cat converter decrease fuel economy? i recently purchased a 2000/w 306 2.0hdi and found its givng me the same mpg as my previous 306 2.0xsi petrol, which was around 150 miles from 20 litres of fuel (100miles motorway and 50 urban), i am doing the same journey and getting the same fuel economy.

I've replaced the plugs, rotor arm and distributor cap, and checked every plug is sparking ok, which they are. Fuel supply is ok, and i keep taking the plugs out after a good bout of churning it over, and they are wet with fuel. So, i have a spark and i have fuel, but they don't seem to want to get together and fire!!!!
  • Renault Kangoo - Double pre-heat 1 Jul 2004 (Forum)
So far the responses from Renault have been "can't find anything wrong with it", "We have tightened the fuel pump and checked for leaks", and, once again, "we can't find anything wrong with it". On this occasion, they have found an entry in the error log relating to the problem (which was missing on all previous visits), and the diagnosis is a faulty fuel pump.
  • Fuel injector cleaner 25 Nov 2001 (Forum)
Whilst purchasing various items to service the Cavalier with (I used semi-synth oil this time, you're right David W, I do feel better about everything now!) I spotted a bottle of fuel injector cleaner. Now, being reasonably flush at the moment I thought I'd treat the car to a bottle which cost just under a fiver as what harm could it do? Several were available, all from quite "major" companies all claiming to do much the same thing.
