How did Renault design the seats and suspension? The back seats must have been designed for dwarves and the suspension for JCB drivers who are on holiday. Anybody lured to one of these vehicles by their excellent space packaging needs to sit and ride in the back before parting with their money.

  • Renault Scenic (2003 - 2009) - Grand Scenic - 1 yr / 16,000 mile report. 21 Mar 2008 (Forum)
Costs so far - a glow plug at £8 (and 20 mins with some test cables and a pair of water pump pliers) to identify the failed plug and swap it), and the 36k "major" service which set us back £260 at the local Renault dealer. Being deeply sceptical of Renault's 18k service intervals, I also dropped the oil and replaced the filter 10,000 miles later, using a service kit from Opie Oils consisting of 6 litres of Motul X-Cess synthetic oil, and a Purolator filter, costing a total of £46.

Cant believe the Smart ForFour was suggested ahead of the Renault Twingo. The Twingo is a very good car with excellent dealer support when needed. Oh, and it's far better looking than the 'Smart' version.
  • Grand Vitara - Suzuki 9 Sep 2014 (Forum)
Hi, I've been eyeing the possibility to get a decent MPV/4x4, and the Suzuki Grand Vitara seems to tick the right boxes. Been reading about the diesel engine - is it a Renault?  Does it share other parts with other cars?  (Who doesn't these days, it seems!) Thanks.
  • shock result for 2008 Megane 1 Aug 2014 (Forum)
According to the latest "Which?" car reliability survey, the 2008-on Renault Megane is near the top of the list for cars up to 3 years old, and still holds up well when over 3 years old.   Rather an about-face from the preceding model.
  • 'New' Laguna 7 Jun 2007 (Forum)
Is it just me, or does it look like the current model with a particularly bland and ill-fitting front lifted from a Hyundai Sonata (or worse)? So much for Renaults style-lead design philosophy! Bring back the Avantime!
  • 2004 Carisma 1.9 DID Timing Belt Change 31 Dec 2006 (Forum)
Due at 54k This engine is a Renault lump (F9Q1) Should i get the water pump and tensioner/idler pulleys done at the same time? How much will this little lot cost at an independant? Many thanks in anticipation.
  • Laguna 2007 15 Dec 2006 (Forum)
If it's well built and can build on the improved reliability of later MK2's, then hard to see where they can go wrong... http://www.motorpasion.com/2006/08/10-renault-laguna-2007 I suspect those wheels might make the ride a bit choppy though.
  • Vivaro van facelift ? 3 Jan 2006 (Forum)

Would the more expensive Hindsight product be any better? The alternative is a new panel £405 fitted by Renault!
  • Best seats?? 25 Oct 2005 (Forum)
What in anyones opinion are the best seats ever put into a mass produced car?? (That can still be purchased and used day to day today e.g no 30 year old renaults) The swedish and french cars all seem to get good reviews. Is it wise to steer clear of german seats?
