  X18XE-1 VECTRA 1.8SRI T REG 90K Hi to all on Honest John's forum. My car has started to run bad after 7 miles from cold when the engine light comes on, or 3 miles if i stop it for 5 mins then start again then it runs bad again, the pattern is always the same. It sounds like its running on 3 cylinders and its struggles to go up hills.

  Later I went out to take it for a run but it completely refused to start. I check for water and found the Hall effect sensor connector was wet so dried and tried again, no go but a smell of fuel. Flooded I thought. Left it over night and sure enough it started this morning after a bit of hesitation it fired on all 4 and took it a run but it was a bit lumpy and rough.

  - I assume it continues when engine is running but can't hear it above eng noise 2) is it the heater fan or another motor running? 2) is there a true Off position? 3) if not normal, any ideas on problem or cure? The second minor issue is the indicator relay switch clicks of its own accord!

  They have found the Mass Air Flow sensor to be giving a faulty reading. The problem with the car was sometimes when started up it would run under powered for a few miles then cure itself. Sometimes it would run fine from startup, others it would not. It never became underpowered mid journey while the engine was running though it would sometimes if the engine was stopped then started again.

  After spending hours of research i found Watling tyres in tunbridge is able to change my flat run tyres for 50£ for each tyre. I was thinking about to fit general tyres. There few options which I personally consider and looking for expierenced advise. Option 1 Change run flat tyre to normal one.

  hi am looking for a smallish cheap car to run and insure and tax which is reliable. Needs to have room for a pram and maybe up to two dogs. I haven't had  a car for years so have no idea. Budget is around £4,000 I like the Hyundai i20 and the i30 the Toyota Yaris  although these are more than the Hyundai models Kia Ceed  I Will be driving to work and back 20 mins drive away,supermarket trips etc for longer drives we have a bigger car.

  Replaced water pump and timing belt on my daughter's 1.6L ecoboost, 2013 Focus... Timing tools were used, procedures followed. engine starts but only runs on cylinders 3 and 4. P0301 and 0302 and random misfire codes as well as low fuel pressure codes. swapped coils, plugs etc. no change.. new fuel regulator sensor. no change. compression is 150 lbs all cylinders...

   The engine has to be cranked over many times before it starts and in extreamly cold conditions it appears to start and run on three cylinders for 5 to10 seconds before running normally. Apart from the bad starting the car runs fine. I have had the car on a main dealers computor and they found no faults,  but told me it could be a faulty injector.

  Hi there, everythings in order with the fuel lines etc, but surely if there was a problem with fueling and air why would the bike run fine in 1,2,3 gears, thats what I can't get my head around, could the prob be with the spark plugs/coils ??? in 4,5,6 gears the engine would be under more load ???? In 3rd at 14000 rpm I'm doing about 85 mph then changing up to 4th the bike starts being unresponsive and speed wil drop until revs are around 5000 but I can feel the bike wanting to go but just does'nt get there,its weird.

  my sharan diesel is running badly. at low revs its fine but when i ask for full throttle the turbo comes in and out. i found a small hole in the waste gate vacume pipe and have since changed this. the waste gate linkage seems to move ok. its not seized. i have had a new air mass fitted and its been on the vag computer and didnt show any faults. the mechanic said could be the turbo but at the prices they are i need to be sure.

  Hi, as the title suggests I have a MkV Golf 1.4 FSi and the exhaust system warning light is lit (not flashing). I am under the impression that this could mean a lambda probe problem, however the engine is running quite rough at idle. Could anybody shed any light onto what could potentially be wrong? Currently not driving it untill I have the time to take it to mechanics, Thanks

  hi all ,ive a a4 tdi engine code afn ,i replaced the engine due to the turbo running on engine oil , i sourced a engine from a running car 78000 miles, engine starts perfectly ,just no boost , all the sencors are off old engine so work ,when the mecahnic came yesterday ,he said that it could be that the catalyct convertor is blocked .due to the old turbo running on engine oil ,.Is he right in saying that oil could block the cat ?

  hi guys got a 1999 astra mk4 1.6 16v which is running on 3 cylinders, on removal of the spark plug one of them was covered in oil which is obviously causing the problem, as you look under the bonnet its the one farest right, that however is the end on my mechanical knowledge :-( what causes this and more importantly how much should it cost to put right thanks in advance for any help you can give me gaz

  engine runs perfect when in park and can be revved up, but as soon as a load is put on the engine it starts to mess around. travelling along the road it will sometimes run ok but then when acceleration occurs it will missfire until a cruising speed is reached and the throttle is eased off and then it runs ok. it only ever seems to be one cylinder. it's easy to determine this because the one that is misfiring is also the one that has a small leak from exhaust gasket which has been there for almost a year and ran perfect before...........

  It starts fine but one it has warmed up the emmisions and cooling lights come on, the rev counter drops to nothing and loses power. It will still run but there is hardly any power there and other times it will just cut out. It has been checked for faults but it comes up fine. Does any body know what the problem could be?

  Hi, Got a 2 lt TDCi amd have had no problems until last night. I started the car and it made a slight knocking noise and then cut out, it sounded like it was running on one or two cylinders, it turns over but won;t start and the heater glow plug warning light stays on.
