  • She's leaving home - the insurance dilemma 16 Sep 2008 (Forum)
But her insurers seem unable to oblige in providing cover whilst the car is not being used and only offer a 'suspension' which actually provided no cover at all but preserves the no claims. Another option may be to look at a multi car policy where my wife and I can use any of three vehicles, and my daughter can be added to the policy to use her own car for holiday periods.
  • Driving in Europe 26 Nov 2001 (Forum)
One of the more profitable earners must be the continental car breakdown cover offered by the AA and the like. It's reasonable to charge for the cost of English-speaking telephone support, emergency hotel accommodation and repatriation costs (although this must be a rather unusual event) but a £ 60+ rate quoted for 15 days cover seems to ignore the fact that a member cannot be requiring UK service at the same time.
  • Ford Zetec. 3 door. Petrol 2004 reg. - Annual servicing by Ford 11 Apr 2013 (Forum)
Dear Sir, Each year I have a full service and MOT on the car.  This was done two weeks ago.    During the service routine the engineer gets me to buy a winter seasonal service as well. I point out that if the car is getting a full service then anything done in the seasonal winter service would surely be covered.
  • VW GOLF - Insurance failing to pay....who is at fault? 8 Sep 2014 (Forum)
Hi, new to this forum but urgently need advice, so apologies for length of post.  My 20 year old daughter was involved in car accident 2 weeks ago, and her vw golf was written off. Her cover with Diamond was fully comp, SDP and commuting to and from home and place of business. She works for a solicitors and often in the morning, on her way to work, she picks up post from DX office in town.

Anyone know where I can get a LHD Twingo covered? Car is UK registered but companies keep declining to quote as there is no UK equivalent vehicle.
  • "Driving other cars" extension 25 Nov 2001 (Forum)
s car but ?only if the car is already insured in it?s own right. If it has no insurance then the driving other cars extension does not apply? I wonder why this is as any claim could not be for damage to the 340 but only to cover a third parties loss.
  • Ford Focus II (2004 - 2007) - 05 1.6 - Anyone experienced clutch problems ? 15 Apr 2008 (Forum)
Rarely have I heard of a clutch failing in any car at 43k miles, unless it's constantly been driven erratically. Most cars I have come across have covered well in excess of 100k on the original clutch. My old Peugeot 309 1.9D was still on its original clutch at 150k and my current 306 1.9TD covered 172k on its original clutch.
  • More Flexible Insurance 7 Aug 2005 (Forum)
They claim I should have trade insurance however I have a friend in the trade who has been having problems with his trade cover because he hasnt been turning over enough cars - I understand trade policies expect policy holders to sell a minimum of 25 cars a year. I certainly wont be changing my car more than say 6 times a year but it does seem as though I will be unable to continue with my current insurer.

  • 2nd car diesel v petrol 1 Mar 2004 (Forum)
A forthcoming job change means I need a 2nd car. As I only need the car for work, I?m trying to workout how best to ensure my running cost are covered by my mileage allowance. A small petrol engine car, e.g. Fiesta 1.1, Corsa 1.2, Peugot 1.1, gives lower insurance and tax, but a lower allowance of 37p/mile.

  • Ford Fiesta - Warranty Issue 21 Jan 2014 (Forum)
Why didn't they tell him A) if it was the clutch the warranty they sold him wouldn't cover him and B) why take it apart then hold the car ransom.   I've had a quote from a trusted local independant garage for £370 for the same work - but 'son' took it to the dealer as he knew all work had to be carried out by an authorised dealer otherwiae he would void the warranty.

  • Car insurance sales pitch 10 May 2006 (Forum)
Every single one of the car insurance adverts I've seen lately have promoted their product purely on the basis of how cheap it is. Is this because most people buy the cheapest insurance they can find, regardless of it's features and quality of cover?
