  • 02 plate Ford Focus 1.8TDCI - Ford Focus TDCI Starting problem 14 Jul 2016 (Forum)
Having done some research some people were suggesting it might be the in tank fuel pump. Does the TDCI have an in tank pump? Or isn't that just a fuel gauge unit in there? Any help would me much appreciated the car was a great car with only 80k on the clock would be a shame to break it if it is something simple to fix.
  • Fiesta 1.4 tdci 2007 - code p0191 21 Mar 2016 (Forum)
Hi all, ive just put a new engine in my fiesta 1.4 tdci and things i replaced from my old onto new engine where fuel pressure sensor as other one had broken connector, throttle thing ontop of engine, water pump, everything else came with engine. Once engine was in and i was happy with everything i pumped hand pump to bleed fuel, turned key and it started 1st time, so next day i started it and got orange cog flashing but started 1st time again, the problem is once i start it on the morning it will run as long as i want but once turned off it wont start again until next day?
  • Citroen C Crosser 2.2HDi - Diesel additives? which one and how often 3 May 2015 (Forum)
During that journey, the power seemed to recover but the ECU warning stayed on;  Green Flag checked the codes which seemed to indicate a fuel leak, but then went on to check the car very very thoroughly.  Concluded it was probably a bit of contamination in the fuel or even air.  Since Mrs G had fllled up at tesco earlier that day, it seems plausible.
  • Citroen C6 - Citroen C6 Diesel engine fuel supply 11 Nov 2014 (Forum)
Have a C6 with 78000 miles 2.2 Diesel engine For past year have had intermittant fuel system fault . the car cruising at any speed, any road will suddenly misfire either just once or twice some times more  then may nor recurr for days/weeks. Recently heading for A3 on M25 east   mis fire started just after joining M25 at J13. moved out to middle lane 65 mph  misfire started and repeated and engine stopped as approaching J 12 ,slipped clutch  to get to n/s lane ( no hard shoulder) decided to abort and go home via M3S . released clutch and engine bump started.
  • renault clio 1.5 dci 2007 - fuel system fault 16 Feb 2014 (Forum)
Our clio has been diagnosed with an injector fault.I have been warned that this could indicate the beginnings of total system failure. I have changed the fuel filter and inspected the old one. sure enough, there is a trace of "silver paint" in the bowl of the filter, having split it open. Would this trace amount of metal residue be a sure sign of imminent failure or should I  expect a good many more miles out of the pump before I have to replace it along with all the other ( contaminated) components and have the entire tank and pipework either cleaned or replaced?
  • Vauxhall Movano - Movano cutting out 5 Nov 2013 (Forum)
2005 2.5 vauxhall movano cutting out it seems to be a common problem from what i read on hear ..I got some very useful information off hear so i thought it only fair to do this post.As many others have had my movano keeps cutting out ignition off and on and its ok again maybe for another 100 miles maybe for another 100 yards who knows. It seems alot have gone down the fuel problem route i was quite shore it was electrical I took it to my local auto electrician who said it was related to the fuel pressure sensor but maybe not the sensor its self he advised it might be a wiring loom problem i contacted my local vauxhall dealer (wjkings very helpful) who said there was a known problem with the wiring on the fuel pressure sensor so they do a kit to replace the wiring £80 plus the vat Mine is on order so watch this space if it solves it i will post the part number that is if i can stop jumping up and down with joy for long enough
  • Citroen C5 2001 - Citroen C5 2.2 Hdi fuel consumption 21 Jan 2013 (Forum)
I am looking for a definitive answer for the poor fuel consumption of the 2.2 engine, I know I am not alone with this problem but most references are to the poor consumption rather than a cure for it. I have 2.0. Hdi engines in another C5 and a 406 both of which with my very gentle style of driving will exceed 60 mpg, the best I consumption I have had form the 2.2 was 49 mpg at a steady 60 mph on the motorway but it only averages about 40 mpg or less.
  • 2005 ford fiesta 1.4 - help, most mechanics failed 29 Sep 2012 (Forum)
I tried starting it but I failed, some guy pointed out to me that when I turn the key on the should be fuel going to the objectors which did not happen when I turned my key on. He poured a little bit of fuel on the air intake and started the car and it started, this happened for a while then the car was able to start on its own for a while but now am having the same problem again and I took it in for diagnosis but all the workshops say they can't pick up the problem please help.

  • Peugeot 306 2.0HDi Meridian 2000/W - Engine Management Light 25 Oct 2011 (Forum)
Also, I re-fueled yesterday but had let the fuel level run down really low..... When starting the light briefly goes out then comes back on immediately and stays on. Is it safe to use until I get it sorted.
  • Vauxhall Vectra C - FUEL PUMP ECU 27 Aug 2011 (Forum)
I brought a 2004 Vectra 2.0 dti that was in 'limp mode', being told by the seller it was in need of a new Mass Air Flow Meter (MAF), after purchasing one the car was still in 'limp mode'. My local diagnostic center traced the fault back to the fuel pump ECU, but they cannot be 100% sure, the car has had £940 spent on it in the last 28 days by the previous owner, including a new EGR valve and numerouse diagnostic checks, which was throwing out MAF faults, iv been quoted £1200 for a new ECU fitted which is more than i paid for the car!!
  • Zafira 2.2 direct design auto 55' plate - Loss of power 18 Jan 2011 (Forum)
Apparently the numbers on the PRESSURE REGULATOR are not the ones on file for the regulator that was replaced beforehand. (Apparently the FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR and the RAIL SENSOR are the same part and I've had this peplaced twice in two months.) Technician said it isn't this that is at fault, it must be the FUEL PUMP, and quoted over £500.
  • Mazda 6 - LPG Conversion massive increase in fuel use 12 Jan 2011 (Forum)
There is a considerable over-run when I throttle off. Otherwise the ride is fine. But there's no point converting to half price fuel if you then use it at twice the rate. If anyone has any advice as to what he might have done or where we ought to be looking I'd be grateful. Sounds as if he's cocked up the engine management system, but how?
  • Renault Clio II (2001 - 2007) - 03 1.5 no power on start for 30 secs & fuel econom 8 Feb 2010 (Forum)
A number of sensors have been replaced by the garage so I don't know if that is an issue. Also the fuel economy has gone to pot, it was doing 60 ish to the gallon and now it's only doing 45 ish to the gallon. Any ideas would be great. Don't want to take it to renault as it will no doubt cost a fortune and I've already spent a lot of money on it.
  • Volkswagen Golf III (1992 - 1997) - 95 1.8 - Cuts out. Could it be the fuel relay? 4 Jan 2009 (Forum)
I bought this VW Cabriolet last summer, it hadn't been used for a year or so before I bought it and so on the odd ocassion that it stalled or didn't start or cut out I just put it down to that and maybe the fuel being blocked somewhere. I used engine cleaner every other time I filled up and the period without problems grew longer, so I assumed the problem was in that department. When it stalled or cut out I would give it ten or fifteen minutes and a bit of a pump on the pedal and it would start again.
  • FIAT Grande Punto (2006 - 2009) - 2007 1.9 Poor Fuel Economy After Crash 28 Nov 2008 (Forum)
My car has been repaired, new bumper, wings, bonnet, radiator, washer bottle etc etc. Any how I have now noticed that my average fuel consumption has gone from being about 42mpg down to 35mpg after the crash. The only thing I can think is that when the accident happened all the coolant from the engine leaked out of the pipe that connects to the intercooler.
  • Mazda 626 (1987 - 1991) - Why is my fuel consumption so good? 6 Jun 2008 (Forum)
I do a limited amount of urban driving, and I am sure my reading of the road ahead, with subsequent lack of heavy braking helps, but I still manage to average 37mpg week in, week out, even with climate control permanently switched on and a fully loaded 6 disc CD player playing loudly. Is there anyone else out there whose fuel consumption has exceeded expectations...all I have read about to date are BRs whose consumption has been disappointing. The car runs exclusively on Shell (I dont think this makes a difference, but its cleaning qualities were recommended) and has new Michelin Energy tyres fitted.
  • Mazda Mazda 6 (2002 - 2007) - 02 diesel no power or acceleration 12 Apr 2008 (Forum)
They said it could be dirt in the fuel system and said they cleaned out the tank and fuel system. After that hadn't made any difference they then said it could be the micro filters in the injectors and they would need replaced costing at least £1000 on top of the £700 pounds they charged for the injector pump to be reconditioned.
  • Vauxhall Astra G Petrol (1998 - 2004) - 2003 1.6 dualfuel LPG engine keeps cutting out. 8 Apr 2008 (Forum)
Manufacturer: Vauxhall. Model: Astra. Type: Estate. Fuel: Dual fuel - LPG/Petrol. Trim: Elegance. Engine: 1600cc. Registered: 2003. Mileage: 52k. ***This only happens when running on LPG*** If I am slowing the vehicle down using just the the gears, as in approaching, roundabouts, give ways junctions or similar, when I lift the clutch to change gear (either up or down the box) the revs drop off almost instantly once the engine rpm is around 1.500 rpm (tickover is roughly 900rpm) and the engine simply cuts out.
  • Shell V-Power diesel: how does it sound to you? 3 Oct 2007 (Forum)
of 47.4 mpg, where 42 is more typical. I've still got a couple of long trips to do this week, so I'll use the regular fuel as a control, to see if it's the fuel or the journey. But it's the sound I'm interested in. Anyone else noticed any audible effects of 'premium' fuels?
