  • 5th gear prob on Laguna 5 Jul 2006 (Forum)
Hi. I have a 1998 Renault Laguna 1.8 RT Sport. Driving on the M25 today it kept slipping out of 5th gear. There has been excessive movement in the gear stick but I thought the problem was fix when a new rear mount was fitted. What happens is when you are driving and you put your foot down the gear stick moves towards neutral (This happens on 1st, 3rd, and 5th.
  • MkV Golf GT TDI Opinions 14 Jun 2006 (Forum)
I currently have a Ford Focus Mk1, which I have owned for the last 5 years. It has been a great car, giving me no real problems, and providing a great drive with lots of room and practicality. I am thinking of "passing down" the Focus to a family member who will be soon starting driving lessons, and so am looking for a replacement. I have been looking at the Mk V Golf GT TDi, and just wanted the opinions of people on here who have driven one/owned one.
  • Renault Scenic Feedback 23 May 2006 (Forum)
Gear change clunky. Rear Bumper easily scratched loading & unloading boot. Overall, I like the car and it drives very well, but the build quality and some of the materials are a little inferior. Any comments from fellow Scenic owners?

  • Disclosure to Insurance Company 11 Apr 2006 (Forum)
I am a 38 yr old man and had a number of faints last summer and was told that I had a condition called neuro cardiogenic syncope - this is basically one step up from a common faint. I was told not to drive for six weeks (which I adhered to) and have since been given the ok to drive again. I am taking medicine and have had no reoccurance. Am I under an obligation to disclose this to my Insurance company?
  • Reliability: Citreon C2 1.4 HDi 9 Apr 2006 (Forum)
Anyone drives a Citreon C2 1.4 HDi 2003 onwards? What are the MPG like on the motorway (70 - 80 mph). Is it noisey at the speeds? If I do buy this car, I'm anticipated to drive at least 15K miles a year 95% on motorway.
  • Private buyer at auction 23 Mar 2006 (Forum)
Am I OK to phone my insurance company and insure the car before I leave the auction and book an MOT with an MOT centre before I leave the auction and drive the car directly there. I have read that a lot of the cars don't come with a V5. So how do I stand with driving the car on the road when I leave the auction, as I won't be able to tax it without the V5 will I?
  • Any auto trans bods in the house? 22 Mar 2006 (Forum)
Hi all, I'm planning a bit of an odd ball project and need your thoughts on a potential transmission problem. To outline the project, I have a 2.2 litre front wheel drive Renault Espace automatic, to which I am planning to mid mount a 4 litre Jag engine and auto box, driving a rear axle. (That's as well as the front engine, not instead of!) I can sort most of the problems with running both ends together, but where I'm going to come unstuck is when in economy mode and just running on the front engine, the rear trans is going to cook its clutches.
  • BMW 318 ci - Why no power? 3 Mar 2006 (Forum)
But one day this week whilst driving the battery light came on and the car had no power for a few seconds then it started again. She booked car into dealer again. Does car need new battery? BMW dealer said alternator ok, so why no power?

  • Transfer of ownership 10 Nov 2005 (Forum)
I wanted to wait until I sold my current car before transferring the insurance as I want the cover on the car I am selling for test drives etc. Not driving the new car would also be incentive to get rid of the old one quickly, rather than hanging on for weeks and weeks hoping for that little bit extra. Is there anything illegal about what I am proposing?.

  • 30k + miles per yr recommendations. 406? 7 Sep 2005 (Forum)
The run to work means I will be doing probably just over 30,000 miles per annum, so straight off I'm thinking diesel would make sense. I'm also leaning towards an auto - usually drive manual but for this high mileage change in my driving I'm thinking of minimising the hassle factor a bit. I don't have a lot of cash to spend (maybe £4k) and I really don't want anything flash - this is purely a workhorse I'm looking for, something to stick the miles on and not worry about.
  • What to do? 19 Aug 2005 (Forum)
No date is given on the slip, and as on the last trip into Plymouth (we go there less than once a month) we were both driving, we have no idea who was snapped. Is this a justifiable excuse?

  • New 3 Series - where's the beef? 8 Apr 2005 (Forum)
I've seen a couple of these around now. I'm sure they are well built, drive beautifully and are the best small executive saloon currently available, but..... Where's the good design. Its boring to look at. Starting with the 1602 and through three or four subsequent 3-series models, each one has looked stunning when they first came out and barely aged.
  • Is there a comfortable adult 5-seater? 1 Apr 2005 (Forum)
Added to all that, my wife does not want to drive anything as long as a Grand Voyager and, besides, we don't need 7 seats - only 5! So, have any of you knowledgeable experts out there got any ideas? I have looked at large saloons, but they never have three real seats in the back.
  • Severe Rocker Failure Ford Fiesta 30 Mar 2005 (Forum)
Hi all, When I pulled off the M-way after a 2 hr drive on Monday I noticed the car, Ford Fiesta XR2i 1.6 H Reg, had lost a lot of power and was reluctent to drive. I got it home safely, back to London, but when I took the rocker cover off today I found the rocker arm, on the top left nearest the cam belt, No1 I think, had completely sheared off and cracked away from around the mounting and nut and was just lying sideways in the top of the head.
