  • Vacuum Pump Oil Changes 15 May 2005 (Forum)
I notice the question was raised in H.J`s column in this week`s Telegraph about oil changes using a vacuum pump via the dipstick tube, and that H.J. mentioned his dislike of this practice as not all the sludge was being removed from the sump. Unfortunately to maintain/increase profitability

  • Easy Oil Change 2 1 Feb 2002 (Forum)
removing the underbody plastic aerodynamic shroud fitted on my MB. Six bolts locate it in place, and it looks a little unweildy. Interestingly, in casual conversation with the manager of the workshop of the local MB agency, it emerged that the procedure they use to change the oil also involves suction
  • Oil General motors EU spec oil 26 Feb 2011 (Forum)
I notice that some vauxhall/chevrolet/Saab dealers are only using the GM spec dexos 1 and2  fully synthetic for their 2011-  engines, this will have a major impact on oil service prices. this is apparently factory fill, so beware of aftermarket oil changes outside of official
  • BP Visco 7000 oil 26 Jun 2005 (Forum)
Recently had the oil and filter changed on my car at National, where the used the above oil. It was only £20, plus I had them fill a litre container with some top up oil! Noticed that this oil is 0w40 grade, so £20 is very good value. They also do a 0w30 grade for zetec etc engines.

  • Merc C270 CDI 11 May 2005 (Forum)
, it was last served at 12000 miles and is saying it doesn't need another oil change until 30000 - which I think is a little long. Is it possible to do an oil change on these yourself? I can't even find the oil filter - is it hidden somewhere under that huge bit of plastic covering the top of the engine
  • Sludge under oil cap 22 Nov 2001 (Forum)
when I changed it, there are no leaks around the engine block. Where could the moisture be getting into the oil. I do a daily 70 mile return run - motorway driving so it should be hot enough to get rid of condensation. Should I forget about it or should Ihave the head gasket changed? Thanks Peter

My Sunny1.4(1989) currently enjoys a Castrol fully synthetic oil surging thro' it's veins ,which was used at oil change(for the first time,) solely because I had a spare can designated for a recently departed Toyota. What sort of mileage interval should I work to, to the next change

  • SAAB 9-5 Gearbox oil change 10 Nov 2006 (Forum)
My 122,000 mile 9-5 is still running as well as ever, and I try to ensure this is so by regular servicing and care. My dealer is very reluctant to change the gearbox oil though. I thought it was a good idea, as the gear changing is a bit stiffer than my Volvo s80, and I imagined it would prolong
