Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 00 2.0 HDi Cold start issues. 4 Dec 2008 (Forum)
It starts fine, but it runs very rough for a couple of seconds before settling on a normal idle. I'm not sure what could causing this, glow plugs, air in fuel system, battery? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks, Craig. -
Engine fouls own nest - `food` goes into wrong end 29 Oct 2008 (Forum)
During re-generation,with particulate filter equipped diesels, do injectors really blast fuel into the cylinders on the exhaust stroke, wetting bores and contaminating oil? Or is there a separate injector just upstream of the DPF? Is there a better engineering solution to cleaning a particulate filter? -
Peugeot 206 hatchback (1998 - 2006) - 00 1.4 Automatic stalls at traffic lights 23 Sep 2008 (Forum)
I drive a 2000 206 GLX Automatic, however it has developed a weird but intermitten problem, when I hit the brakes to slow down and stop at lights of in traffice the car stalls, it appears to be a fuel problem but the garage assure me they have checked and there is not a problem, this issue happens for about an hour and is then fine, I am so confused any ideas?? -
Franchise servicing 18 Sep 2008 (Forum)
It appears they have retracted this decision. Not only will this decision close many independent garages and fuel the dole queue but also mean the sale of sub standard pirate parts. -
Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 98 1.8 air leak from one to two thousand revs 29 Jul 2008 (Forum)
When i put my foot down to rev my focus it seems to struggle as if there is an air leak. I removed the air pips around by the fuel bayonetts but could still not find the problem. Any ideas anyone? Thank you -

SAAB 9-5 (1997 - 2009) - 1999 2.3 Starting Problem 18 Jul 2008 (Forum)
My Saab 2.3 LPT intermittently failed to start. Eventually it failed completely and I had to be rescued by the RAC. My garage checked the fuel pump, starter motor and injector electronics but still it intermittently failed to start. The diagnostic computer failed to detect the problem too. The crank sensor has now been replaced and, so far, the starting has been reliable. -
Vauxhall Corsa C (2000 - 2006) - 2003 1.2 Service Schedule 18 Jul 2008 (Forum)
I am thinking of the mileage interval that Vauxhall recommend for things like spark plugs, air filter, fuel filter etc. The mileage for the oil & oil filter doesn't matter so much as that is a personal choice. -
FIAT Bravo and Brava (1995 - 2002) - 00 1.2 Lack of power 23 Jun 2008 (Forum)
right i'm dealing with this bravo 1.2 16v which when you put your foot down the revs pic up but nothing realy happens, i'm thinking something along the lines of throttle possitioning sensor or a blocked fuel filter, but i can't seem to find it, the engine manegment flashes for a while but eventualy goes, the problm is more likely to happen when running cold. thanx -
4k to spend on weekend/fun car 16 Jun 2008 (Forum)
Reliability is important and i dont want to be speing a fortune on tax (they have enough of my money as it is!) so maybe a pre 03/01 model. Not to bothered about fuel comsumption due to low mileage but around 30 mpg would be good. Any recommendations or cars to avoid would be very welcome. Thanks Dave -
Air con settings ... which is best for CO2 etc. 22 May 2008 (Forum)
Whereas if it is set on 'fresh air' (outside air) you are having to cool the hot (summer) air coming in from outside. Have I got this completely wrong or am I helping the planet (and my fuel bill) having it on set on recirc? -
Volkswagen Passat (1997 - 2000) - 98 1.9 TDI Turbo maintenance 16 May 2008 (Forum)
Just wondering is there any maintenance that needs to be carried out on turbos besides the normal oil, oil filter & fuel & air filter change. My passat has 170,000 miles on the clock and I'd like it to stay climbing gracefully without problems ;-) Thank you, Carlover -

Missing engine 10 May 2008 (Forum)
Not such an anoraky question as it sounds, because the extra 15/20 bhp over the standard 1.6 made a big difference. The Ti-Vct also used less fuel, so it seemed to be a winner all round. For those interested, Ti-Vct stands (stood?) for twin independent variable camshaft timing. -
Vauxhall Omega (1994 - 2003) - '97 2.5 TD Auto - faltering/stalling 10 Apr 2008 (Forum)
Good evening one and all I'm considering bidding on this vehicle but it suffers from, as the seller puts it, faltering and occasional stalling. He has changed the fuel filter but to no avail. Any clues folks? Is it likely to cost me a packet to put right? More details on the car here: http://tinyurl.com/3gos2n Thanking you in anticipation of your assistance! -
Mercedes Benz E-Class W211 (2002 - 2009) - Why Merc E-Class as a taxi 4 Mar 2008 (Forum)
I don't think I've ever seen a BMW 5 series Taxi, but they have more room in the back, similar sized boots and better fuel economy, am I missing something? -
BMW X5 E53 SUV (2000 - 2007) - X5 3.0D + fill of unleaded! Here's your bill sir! 28 Feb 2008 (Forum)
A family member recently filled up their X5 diesel with unleaded and drove it several miles before realising their mistake. The car was towed to the local BMW dealer and the fuel system replaced. Guess how much the final bill was? I was surprised to hear that the insurance company coughed for it as it was considered an acccident - just as well! -
