• Manual electrics 4 Apr 2013 (Forum)
  With my motoring being largely confined to short suburban runs, I feel it's time to join the electric revolution.  However, I've always driven a manual and want to stay with a stick shift. The fuel savings versus automatic are particularly appreciated when I have the horse box in tow.  Something like a G-Wiz or Twizy would be fine, but when are the manufacturers going to get the message that not all of us are fans of two-pedalled motoring?

  my 02 ford fiesta tdci,  keeps cutting out when i slow down to go round a corner. it seems to happen when its cold. ive had the car seviced and diesel filter changed.  anlong with the maf sensor, cam sensor and fuel lines, there are no fault codes showing , its costing me a fortune at the garage .help

  It's fine when accelerating - no lack of power and ticks over very steady too. I've changed the coil packs and leads and plugs, as well as the fuel filter but with no difference. Toyota main dealer couldn't find anything on the diagnostic check - any ideas? Could it be the injectors? It's only done 94k miles. Thanks.

  The loads will be mostly suitcases with one or two small pieces of furniture. Priorities are reliability, low fuel consumption, space in the back (I miss my old Toyota Previa for that) and resale value (probably won't be keeping the car after these trips) My budget is up to £4000 - any tips?
• Peugeot 206 automatic - Car cutting out when driving 6 Jul 2012 (Forum)
  My Peugeot 53 reg, automatic keeps cutting out when driving, then restarting immediately.  Also the airbag warning signals and stays on and the fuel gage signals as empty when it isn't.  What is going on please? she also drives slowly and judders first thing in the morning as if she is going to stop especially up hill.  I have had her regularly serviced.

  I'm looking at 2 of these both automatics and estates ones a 2005 and the other a 2007, whilst not that fuel effecient, they aren't much worse than the Honda Civic and I would get a newer car with less miles for my money? I've heard the 1.6 is a bit underpowered to pull the body size? I'm determined after all the questions on the forum that I'm buying a car for half-term!

  I do up to 200 miles a day and am looking at a used new shape  astra 1.4 petrol turbo. Has anyone got one whats it like on fuel? I can't afford a new shape diesel and have concerns anyway about dpf dmf problems with diesels. Any advice would be appreciated.

  I have a problem where my car dies down after 2000 rpms i have replaced Injectors fuel pump filter and EGR valve now i have an oil leak but cant seemto find it . Have been told this could be my turbo goosed . It smokes (black) pretty bad when yo u rev it up idle and when running. Has anyone any thoughts please.

  After driving about 6 miles the petrol gauge started to drop and the computer millage started to drop like I had an petrol leak. Can any help with the problem as its to much of a coincidence it's a fuel sencor failure? Or is it? Many thanks ASAP if poss please. Ps filled up at morrisons

  my car will start and idle at about 5000 rpm but as soon as i touch the accelerator it will go up to about 10000 rpm then cut out it will do this about 4 times then it will rev reluctantley ,when driving it will seem to shudder no lights on dash and cut out and seem to miss when driving ???? is it fuel starvation or coil maybe ??

  I have a mate selling his avensis - 03/53 plate with104k on the clock and FSH - and he's letting me have it at a knock-down price Although I love my (petrol) mazda 6 - looking at the fuel saving with this avensis is making it tempting for me (I do 22k miles a year)

  maybe some people know this,but one can save around 15% on fuel through adding for petrol .17ml to 1 litre of petrol and diesel.13ml/litre diesel of pure acetone ,it also after a tank or so will produce hardly any emissions,as nearly everything gets properly burnt,it also cleans one's engine up nicely,no coke build up Get a syringe & just squirt it in after filling ones tank up..

  When ign is switched on the fuel gauge reads full.  Speedometer needle also jumps to max reading. tachometer also shows max reading since this problem occured car is very hard to start  At the moment car is in the garage but i think their a bit stumpted on this one anyone come across this problem beforeor know of any vauxhall field remedy for this problem Any feedback greatly accepted Regards Mickeybo

  only info required car still under warranty.  New egr fitted got back from the garage today.  Car wanting to give power but feels fuel starved.  Garage says it will take a little while until the new egr has settled in!!!  Any info greatly received, I am running out of ideas!!!

  mazda 323f 1.6 2003 model. just had full service and driving along then car just died. rac breakdown came out and put on diagnostics and said was crankshaft sensor. replaced that part but car still wont fire and rev gauge doesnt move. checked fuses hoses coils and fuel all fine but there is no spark for some reason. any ideas anyone because has confused me???????

  I know that DPF tends to be very problematic and the repair costs are high. This might not cover the fuel savings made by driving a diesel vehicle. I do not cover that many miles per annum (7k), my driving is mixed (50/50, urban and motorway). Will driving a diesel be ok for me?

  hi can anybody help me i have a 2.0 red top i was driveing away when she just cut out on me and now want start it turns over but want fire there is fuel going through but no spark my hunsh is that its the distributor does any body now how mush thats going two set me back  and if it aint that any ideas thanks

  Mine is strange, some days it idles at 1100rpm, some days 750rpm, some days 800rpm some even at 500rpm. its just i do a lot of motorway miles and the higher it idles the higher the revs at 70mph and the more fuel it uses. i would like it to idle at 500rpm ALL the time as it does 135miles for £10 of diesel :) thanks in advance
