  • Audi A1 Sportback - Audi 1.4TFSI from 2013 - cambelt or chain? 24 May 2018 (Forum)
Or is it only distinguishable by checking the VIN? If it's a cambelt, the car will be 5 years old this year so it will probably need doing if it hasn't been done ... and I guess if it's a camchain engine then he needs to check the service record to ensure it's had annual services, not 'long life' servicing.

  • Reliable used big hatch back / small estate 31 May 2017 (Forum)
Hi all Any advice very much appreciated! It's time to get rid of my old Jeep, I no longer have the need for an off roader and it's too big and too costly in repairs! I am really struggling to come up with a car that fits my requirements ... I have two children so need a family car, that can also fit a German Shepherd in the boot (on occasion, not daily or long distances).
  • Audi TT MK1 - My Parked Audi TT hit by third party 25 Jan 2017 (Forum)
My car was hit by a third party whilst parked on my road, I was not around at the time however one of my neighbours witnessed it and passed the information of the vehicle in question on to me. My car is damaged (creased and dented) on the offside wing, I got a rough estimate for repair from a private garage of around £500.
  • Citroen C4 - Auction question 31 May 2016 (Forum)
Hi, I bought a Fiat Bravo at an auction 4 years ago, car has treated me really well and it worked out as a great but doing 25k a year is making me look again. I've been able to find some low mileage 4-5 year old C4's and after reading into it I'm given the impression of a reasonably reliable car with high depreciation which suits me.
  • Renault Clio - Electrical problem- 18 May 2016 (Forum)
My son lives in Sheffield, I live in Kent. He knows nothing about cars. He bought a 2002 Clio 1.4 petrol saloon. He had some trouble starting it but now the battery is flat. Not a glimmer from it. The car has stood immobile now for 3 months. I am coming to visit and he wants me to bring some tools and a new battery..
  • Hyundai i40 - Hankook Tyres 24 Dec 2015 (Forum)
My present vehicle was supplied from new with Hankook tyres fitted . It is a company lease and will be two years old next March. I have just had the original two front tyres replaced at 54,000 miles, which seems really good. The car is front wheel drive the same as my past few cars, also leased . However these all needed new tyres at around 30,000 miles.
  • Ford Focus 1.8 petrol (2004) - Lack of power and temperture rise 5 Jun 2015 (Forum)
I've had the car from new for 14 years and really has had very little problems, still has original exhaust,  battery, clutch etc. Good car but now getting dangerous when overtaking uphill. Any one had similar problems and how did it get fixed?

  • BCA Sure Sell - no more? Best alternative? 15 Mar 2015 (Forum)
Hi all, It looks like BCA Sure Sell may be no more. If I follow the old link for it, I get to the main BCA page, and all information about selling a single car as a private seller has gone. I'm guessing this could be because BCA own one of the big car buying companies (is it webuyanycar they own?)
  • Citroen DS5 - Ds5 2.0 HDI 6sp manual reliability ??? 26 Feb 2015 (Forum)
Due to its quirky looks and personally I liked the way it drove. I'm probably looking about 18 months old from a dealer. My question is how reliable is the car likely to be over say 3 years and 100k? I know PSA have made strides in this area in recent years, but does anyone know much about the DS5?
  • Skoda Fabia - Skoda Fabia? 14 Feb 2015 (Forum)
Though I am poor, I don't need a nippy city car, more a dog/camping car for a nice quiet ride on a long schlep. Don't mind if it is slow as long as it is safe and quiet. Maybe a Fabia Estate? Are the 01-07 ones OK? Does the 1.2, 3 cylinder Fabia have the same issues with cylinder wear etc as the 2002 Polo?
  • Vauxhall Agila - Vauxhall Lifetime Warranty Issue 12 Oct 2014 (Forum)
Both the dealer, Evans Halshaw, and Vauxhall Customer Care have advised this is not covered under the lifetime warranty.  They claim this problem is down to how the car has been driven, perhaps over too many bumpy roads.  The four year old vehicle is my wife's shopping car and has only done 6,000 miles locally.  I am not sure I would treat this lifetime warranty as a reason to buy Vauxhall again, if they try to wriggle out of it for a mere £70 repair what will they be like on major components!
  • Vauxhall astra 2002 year - stuck recirculation flap? 9 Feb 2013 (Forum)
Hi, My car steams up inside really badly.  I thought it would be a leak somewhere but I recently found it to be an air recirculation problem. I was following an old tractor emitting loads of smoke so I used the recirculation button.

  • FIAT 500 - Water pump and cam replacement after just 19k? 23 Sep 2012 (Forum)
My garage who are currently servicing my Fiat 500 have told me that the water pump Fiat 500 needs replacing.  The car is only 4 years old, 19k on clock and for the first year only did 20 miles (it was pre-registered and owned by Fiat).  The quote for replacing the water pump and cam is an eye watering 385 quid (on top of the 250 for the service).
  • Chrysler voyager 2003 - Problems with key fob/battery and lights 18 Jun 2012 (Forum)
Hope someone can help. I have been having problems with my battery which is about eight months old. Car constantly has trouble starting although I have had battery and alternator checked and all seem ok. I have been told that I do not use car enough and due to size the battery does not have time to recharge.

  • Servicing dilemma 15 Jul 2011 (Forum)
However, the dealer wants £346 for a full service, whilst Fiat UK (via a phone call) say the dealer should offer a 'cost effective service' for cars that have done a low mileage. The dealer says they can't offer this for my car and will only do a full service. Does anyone have any words of wisdom or advice about where to go for a service or what I should do?
