Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 99 2.0 HDI engine warning light ,not revving 18 Jul 2010 (Forum)
Hi looking for some advice on my Hdi The car ran fine to the supermarket-we stopped, shopped and went back to the car and it wouldnt start at all ,called the AA man out who plugged in his scanner and it came up with 5 fault codes P3040 P112 P0380 P1404 P0230 He tried the usual hitting the tank with a hammer but that didnt work and he ended up towing it to a local peugeot specialist who looked and said it was just the connections to the camshaft sensor that he cleaned up and also the No1 injector wire aswell and charged me lots of money for doing so. the day after the battery completely died so I fitted a new one. The car ran for a week then suddenly the engine warning light came on whilst doing about 50mph and I couldnt rev the engine much above 2k but it kept running and I managed to get the car home. -
Peugeot 206 hatchback (1998 - 2006) - 02 2.0 Anti Pollution Fault 29 Dec 2009 (Forum)
I've had no loss of power and everything seems fine when i drive, NO limp home mode, no loss of power etc. I've tried disconnecting the battery for 20-30mins in a vain hope of clearing the fault but nothing. Took the car to a mates garage and plugged the car in 2 weeks ago Sunday (7th September) and had the codes cleared (came back with faults P0380 & P 0221). -
Suzuki Grand Vitara 1600 (2001 - 2005) - Whats it worth and sell in new year or wait? 23 Dec 2009 (Forum)
She doesnt want to leave the car standing around for another two years - its already sat for 7 months although battery has been kept charged and its been moved about and stored with handbrake off. Firstly, what is it worth? It is a 2001 Y reg 1600 in black, 60k, service history up until she went away but its due a service ( not done as it was gonna sit there unused ), it has no MOT or tax at the moment although its in very good shape mechanically. -
Ford Focus III (2008 - ) - 09 1.6 Keyless Entry I'm At My Wits End!!! 16 Nov 2009 (Forum)
I have tried the reset/program new key mechanisms as described in the user hand book (which is one of the worst written documents I've ever experienced). I can still use the remote function of the key, and its got great range, so I know that the battery in my key is good. Does anybody have any idea how I can get the keyless entry working again? I'm sure it just needs resetting somehow but I've tried everything over the last couple of weeks and I'm at my wits end :-( Thanks in advance -
Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - Replacement car - suggestions? 23 Mar 2009 (Forum)
Since I've had it I've had problems with ecu/fuel injection (£1,100 quoted to fix), blocked injectors (£250 to fix), battery problems (£150) and now I've been told that it needs a new flywheel system and possibly a clutch (at least £700). So it's going! And I'm not sure I want another Ford either! Can anyone suggest a suitable replacement? -
Ford Mondeo II (1996 - 2000) - 99 2.5 misfire problems 21 Jan 2009 (Forum)
I fired the car up and all was good, no misfire and it ran nice and smooth. I left the car idling for about 45 mins to charge the battery, in that time the fans came on 4 times. On the 4th time the car started to misfire again. I ran the Scanguage again and it brought up the P0353 code again. What can cause the P0353 error to occur ? -
Renault Megane (1996 - 1998) - 1996 2.0 blower motor intermittent 4 Jan 2009 (Forum)
now the heater motor is playing up again, after some more investigating i've found that the problem appears to lie in a relay board under the wiper motor next to the battery, i conclude this as if you turn the fan on then wiggle the connectors on this board then the blower jumps into life so im presuming a loose connection somewhere, ive had the connectors apart and sprayed them with contact cleaner this helped for awhile but i decided the board couldn't be removed without removing the wiper motor which i haven't had time to do. -
Renault Espace (1997 - 2002) - 00 - electronic dash issues 19 Oct 2008 (Forum)
But I don't particularly want to go to a Renault dealer and be told I need to shell out a four-figure sum on a new dash and radio. Any ideas what's up / where to start? Needless to say I've tried disconnecting the battery for a few hours, to no avail. TIA James -
Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 1998 1.4 Speedometer and rev counter at maximum 19 Jun 2008 (Forum)
Hi I've just had my battery disconnected for 30 mins whilst I cleaned some contacts under the seat for the air-bag system but when I re-connected it I now have a very strange fault (air bag light fault cured). When I turn the key on, the speedometer and rev counter dials rortate clockwise to maximum (with the engine off) I just tried driving the car to see if that would reset things but noticed that the trip meter was advancing at a very high rate and, after about 2 miles noticed that about 25000 miles has been added to my odometer reading. -
Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 2000 1.8 TDDI Fuel Pump Problem 19 Apr 2008 (Forum)
Now 6 weeks later the engine has been rebuilt but I am now being told the engine will not start and the mechanic thinks it is because the battery has been off for so long the ecu has lost its settings. He towed it to the local ford dealer who put it on the computer but they have diagnosed internal fuel pump error. I fail to see why the fuel pump will now be faulty since the rebuild as it had nothing to do with the rebuild and the car ran ok apart from the crankshaft fault. -
Renault Scenic (2003 - 2009) - 2004 1.9 dCi poor fuel consumption 7 Apr 2008 (Forum)
Can anyone tell me how to get at it? I can see the pipe behind the radiator but it disappears behind the battery. I read a similar email a few weeks ago and someone wittily replied "if you can't find the filter maybe you shouldn't be looking in the bonnet!" But the Scenic engine access is very very cramped with its short bonnet. -
Citroen Berlingo Multispace (1998 - 2010) - 1998 1.8i - Engine cutting out under braking 26 Feb 2008 (Forum)
However some journeys the car will start first time, run fine and not cut out at all. Changing the battery, cleaning the stepper motor and cleaning fuse contacts on the brake/reserve lights circuit has made no difference so far. Any help much appreciated. -
Volkswagen Passat (1988 - 1997) - 95 1.9 TD Glow Plug failure ? 13 Jan 2008 (Forum)
Presumably there should be continuity between the centre terminal and the threaded body ? If I connect one up to a spare battery (briefly!) presumably it should warm up if sound ? Any advice or alternative suggestions appreciated. -
Ford Fiesta (1989 - 1995) - 93 1.1 petrol. coolant sensor location 30 Dec 2007 (Forum)
I am wondering on this car if this there instead of the coolant temperture sensor. Who knows. Also still baffled why the car refuses to start on a new well charged battery yet will fire up tick over and run perfectly every time on a bump start 20 yard tow. Any help welcome. Many thanks -
Ford Escort (1993 - 2000) - 93 diesel starting problems. 4 Dec 2007 (Forum)
It had been stood for over a year when i bought it but still fired up with a jump and ran great and started great when i put a bigger and new battery on it. However this morning it started fine so i set off down my road then had to stop as some silly old man pulled out on me then the van stalled. It would not restart so i tryed to bump it it started but immediately died and still wont restart. -

1998 Honda Civic imobiliser issue 7 May 2007 (Forum)
I've done a few short journies today and it has been fine, it even started like you would expect, ie as soon as you turn the key. It has the original battery that it left the factory with also. Is this something that will either go or not or can I have it repaired successfully before it lets me down. Any ideas of cost? Cheers people. -
Renault Megane Various Issues 28 Jan 2007 (Forum)
Is it a simple reprogramming or would I need a new unit, how much would it cost? On a side issue the car hasn?t been starting very well, so on Wednesday I removed the battery to charge it in case it was that (which didn?t really solve the problem just reduce it). Went to drive to work Thursday morning and the clutch was slipping (high revs every so often, no acceleration) do clutches go this fast? -
Strange electrical problem - Ford Escort 30 Nov 2006 (Forum)
Went down to see someone off and noticed that front sidelights or dipped main beam had come on by themselves (no rear lights). Got in the car and tried to turn them off, but they wouldn't go off. There was still enough battery to start the thing so I started it and ran it for a while to recharge while pulling fuses one by one until the lights went off. Two fuses, one 10amp and one 15. Now any attempt to turn the lights on elicits the warning squeal the car gives when you try to get out with the lights on, even with all the doors closed and engine running. -
Honda Civic - 100,000 miles 29 Oct 2006 (Forum)
During this time I have looked after it with oil changes at least every 6k, usually 5k. Cambelt at 75k, recent exhaust and battery. The only faults/niggles I am aware of are: - pads/disks on the way out - rear trailing arm bushes perishing - new rad probably needed soon - drivers electric window gets stuck half way down - couple of minor rust patches I have no reason to change the car - I like the way it performs, averages 42mpg, uses no oil, auto box shifts smoothly.
