Volkswagen Golf III (1992 - 1997) - 1997 2.8 Heavy steering after PAS pipe change 16 Jan 2009 (Forum)
(I assume the pipes were correct as breakers said they were, and garage who fitted them didn't mention anything) The garage said the s/hand pipes were in good condition (which they were), and replaced the P/S fluid with mineral PS fluid which they said was required by VW's. Since then the steering is heavier than it was before (but still power assisted). -
Volkswagen Golf VI (2009 - ) - An expensive successor..... 24 Oct 2008 (Forum)
I have been pricing up a new 1.4TSI 5dr hatchback to replace my nearly 4 year's old MKV 1.6FSI 'SE'. There are only 3 models on offer i.e. 'S' 'SE' and 'GT'. My biggest gripe so far is that a sunroof in no longer an optional extra on the 'S' or 'SE' only on the tarty, sporty 'GT' However about £17.5k seems to be what I'll need to pay, which includes metallic paint, parking sensors and a steering wheel that will enable me to control my radio!! -
Fog Lights Are For Fog!! 12 Jul 2008 (Forum)
i.e a two second gap, i personally like to see plenty of tarmac between me and the vehicle in front but there`s always someone eager to fill the gap oblivious to the fact that my truck takes longer to stop the `his` car! -
Motoring getting cheaper? 10 Jun 2008 (Forum)
If the equivalent vehicle was available today I reckon it would sell for around £12000, which is quite low inflation over a quarter of a century. I remember my parents house being worth around £25000 in the mid 80's , it's now worth 10 times that, so if cars had gone the way of houses your Metro would be costing £65000 these days. Blimey! I also remember the Astra GTE costing around £17000 in the early 90's, the modern day VXR costs around the same today. -

Private plate transferring 17 Jan 2008 (Forum)
After the fiasco with the last S Type purchase, I have finally found the S type at the right price. Only issue is that the car has a private plate on it which is coming off and the car is going back onto its original plate. I am collecting the car this Saturday, but I am unsure of how the transfer of plate occurs. -
Rover 25 (1999 - 2005) - 2005 - Electrical fault 16 Jan 2008 (Forum)
Today, the N/S sidelights are not working, nor the alarm (light at any rate), nor are the dashboard dial lights. The warning lights are OK, ditto the clock, radio and everything else. Before I book it into a garage, does anyone have any ideas? -

Quick tyre question 10 Oct 2007 (Forum)
Wife's car goes in for MOT tomorrow and I know it needs two front tyres - tracking was out and outer edge is worn so was going to get two more Toyo Proxies Tr1's (195/50/15)- only problem is I don't trust garage to track it if it needs it again with new tyres and garage I trust is a good run so I rang garage that tracks and they can offer two Avon ZV3's at £45 each (Toyo £47) Has anyone got ZV3 on their car -if so what do you think of them - Toyo's have good wet grip and wear quite well (if tracked properly) - If I go for Toyo will get them to check track but not adjust it. -

Ford radio help 14 Mar 2007 (Forum)
m looking for some information on Ford Radios, namely the latest Ford 6000CD fitted to the latest Fiesta/Focus/S-Max/Galaxy/Mondeo/Transit?. It is not the Sony unit, rather the Ford unit but it is the one with the large CENTRAL rotary volume control. It isn?t the older 6000 units where the volume is at the side. -
Mondeo Steering Concern 28 Nov 2006 (Forum)
My 52 Ghia X Estate 2.0 TDCi has developed a rumble noise and a roughish feel when I turn the steering wheel in either direction when the car is moving. The steering itself, however, is positive, and on the face of it there is not a problem. New Michelin Pilot Primacy tyres were fitted on the rear wheels, and the original Pirelli P6000`s were changed back to front 2000m ago. At the same time the steering geometry was checked and adjusted. It has just passed it`s M.O.T Could the different tyre treads, or the fact that they are low profile tyres or the different degrees of wear front to back account for the problem or could it be something more serious, or am I just being unnecessary sensitive? -
Product placement in films 24 Jan 2006 (Forum)
IIRC Ford also supplied 4x4's for Jurassic Park. Then of course there are the 'concepts' produced by Audi for I,Robot; and Lexus in Minority Report. Is this outlay by the manufacturers really worth it? It must cost mllions, but how do they quantify a return on their investment? -

Hi everyone, I have a question from a work colleague who?s not on the ?net. His Peugeot 306 wipers do not ?park? when switched off (they just stop where they are at the time) He was advised to try another wiper motor, and has tried three separate motors off the shelf from a local breakers yard ? -

GPS Antenna location - BMW 18 Nov 2005 (Forum)
I am currently experiencing problems with a new speed camera detector (Micro Road Pilot) unit and would welcome any advice on the best GPS antenna location on a 2002 E46 320d SE, and would also appreciate any info regarding whether this model is fittied with a UV windscreen that could seriously impede the signal to the antenna. I have been in touch with the manufacturer`s technical team today and they are trying to blame the problem on the windscreen fitted to my car and refuse to accept any responsibility for the mal functioning of their unit, which I actually paid almost £100 to be hard wired by their distributor`s agent. -

Mis-matched xenon headlamps - Citroen C5 10 May 2005 (Forum)
Additionally the new unit doesn't appear, at a glance, to be quite as bright as the original o/s lamp. Having had a look at the labelling on the two units, they do seem to more or less match, so not sure what to do about this...is it legal to have different coloured headlamps?!? Cheers ---- PhiL
