Any - Torque converter autos-waiting at junctions etc 25 Aug 2016 (Forum)
When you have to stop for a couple of minutes at a junction, general traffic etc, do you put your car into N or just leave it in D and hold the brake? I had always thought that it did more wear to switch an autobox in and out of D than to simply hold the brake with it in D, seeing as the torque converter can slip almost infinitely without additional wear unlike a normal clutch. -

Shoddy dealing 27 May 2012 (Forum)
He said that they were corroded on and it was obvious that they had not been off for a considerable time. The back wheels have to be removed to look at the state of the brake pads. The pads were used up, and when he tested the brake fluid the reading was in the Danger zone. -
Vauxhall corsa - Faults and where I stand 2 Mar 2012 (Forum)
It was bought in mid November and I was given a MOT certificate detailing work which had been carried out including brake binding. Within a couple of weeks, the brakes were binding and I took it back to the garage who sorted out. Today I was out driving and the power steering intermittently failed, It took me totally by surprise and I almost crashed. -

Renault Kangoo Combi (1999 - 2004) - 98 1.9 Loss of drive to one wheel. 10 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Had a problem with a friends van yesterday. When I came to move the van, it went into gear ok but it felt like the brakes were binding on. Raised the rear of the van and both wheels rotate freely. Raised the front of the van and the near side wheel rotates freely but the off side wheel will hardly turn at all. So removed the brake caliper on the off side, still only a small amount of movement.
