    Sadly, he did not realise the traction control needs to be OFF with the orange light permanently showing on the dash if trying to get up a deeply snowed hill.  I wonder how many other youngsters who may never have practised snow-driving realise this?

  There was me, perfectly happy with the venga, but swmbo  decides she wants to drive more and therefore would like an auto box. Keeping away from the boxes of doom in their various guises, the choice seems to be a venga or i20 auto, but the fuel consumption is poor. thinking a size smaller, suzuki celerio???
• Drink / Drive Campaign 8 May 2017 (Forum)
  Every year just before Christmas, the government usually launches, with much publicity, their seasonal anti drink drive advertising campaign. This seemed to pass me by this year. I don't recall the usual fanfare or the adverts in the press or on TV. If there was such a campaign, I missed it, so did anyone else? I heard a report that DD figures were up for Christmas 2009, can anyone back this up.

  I have the xenon lights on my BMW and can't find any info in the book about driving abroad and whether or not you need "deflectors" whcih I know are a pain the rear to fit. My Audi A5 had a setting change on the menus but again can't seem to find this on the BMW? Any advice experience of this?

  My Dad wants to buy a left hand drive car, and export it to Morocco. As all the LHD's in the UK, seem pretty high, we're looking at buying used from Europe. Does anyone know the best way to go about this?? Any tips / advice for good countries to buy used, or likewise places to avoid.

  While stuck in a jam the other day I cast my mind back to my most enjoyable drive ever. It was from london to Blandford in the wee small hours in a 2 litre Vauxhall Victor and the road was clear all the way. A starry night too  I had a completely clear run along the Salisbury-Blandford road too with headlights seemingly shining out forever ahead.

  about Xenon headlights. i am getting conflicting info from main agent with regard to headlight deflectors, for driving abroad. 1.  Foils are not available ?,  2. Are not fitted to xenon lights.  3. They will adjust the lights for abroad for £70 as they are difficult to access?
• Ford focus 1.8 petrol - Petrol consumption 25 Feb 2011 (Forum)
  I have a 1999 ford focus 1.8 petrol I put in aprox 16 litres of petrol and got 80 miles of mainly (90%) driving on motorways at aprox 60 mph seems a bit heavy. Car is well maintained, tyre pressure correct and I drive as light footed as possible and drive in very light traffic. What do you think?

  Hope I'm not being fat-ist. Remember about a year ago when BSM replaced all their driving school Corsas with Fiat 500s.   My brother is considering getting a car after about 8 years. Obviously he has 0 NCD but he drives a van for work. He has tried the comparison websites but they come up with high prices. My only suggestion was that a local insurance broker might be more help, might treat him the same as an ex company car driver?

  hi, i am test driving the new insignia sports tourer 2.0l cdti design tomorrow! long distance, will be doing about 200 mile. what should i look out for? is there anything anyone would like to know? spoke to the rep and he said up to know all design models have come with sat nav built in!

  Hi, As question above. Trying to settle a pub conversation which was that high revs damage engines. would driving at a constant 90-95mph cause any damage to the car/engine, on a mg 2.0 turbo diesel. Car is sitting at around 3800-4000 revs at those speeds. Would engine wear increase due to those speeds and would it affect engine life?

  The interior, to me at least, is a lot more inviting than the Mondeos or a Passats for that matter. As expected it's not as good as the Mondeo to drive but that wont matter 95% of the time anyway...

  Hi all. Driving to work yesterday the spalshboard under the engine near the exhaust came off. It wasn't pretty as i was doing 70 at the time. Anyway I've lost the whole thing. Question is will it be OK to not bother replacing it.

  when reversing car on full lock I get loud knocking noise from left hand wheel area, some times right. It sounds like the drive shaft is binding up, Any one know what's wrong, or how much its going to cost. thanks

  Today's radio news says plans are on way to allow hard shoulder as a driving lane on some of the motorways (eg. M1, M6, M42 etc.). However, many wonder where do you stop then for emergency! By the way, we already use a good part of M1 hard shoulder between J6 & J10. Usually these areas are covered by Free Recovery Service.

  I am currently having problems with my clio, It is a L reg 1.4 auto. While driving the rev counter will suddently jump up to around 60000 rpm, and then settle back to 30rpm. Also when sat at lights it is prone to jumping forward, or feels like it is slipping out of gear. I was wondering is it the Idle control problem or worse still a gearbox fault, or could it be something easl?

  If I buy a car which does not have any tax but has an MOT and I have insured it, whats the legal position on driving the thing home? Obviously in a perfect situation I would tax it straight away, but as you now have to have an MOT and insurance documents with you in order to buy a tax disc, this isn't always possible.
