True CO2 output 16 Jun 2008 (Forum)
or would a well built quality car beat a cheap one that tended to go out of tune more quickly? etc, etc the figures for my 9 year old auto Jag S Type are as follows: Fast Idle.... CO...............0.003% (limit car is too old to have the CO output on the V5, but a bit of research suggests that this car is shown as being 259 g/km Will I be entitled to look a bit smug... or will I be shot down in flames and have to slink off back to the shadows with my shoulders down. -
Cheap runaround 19 Jun 2006 (Forum)
Depreciation might be more of an issue. 2. Get a 3-year-old-or-so small car. Depreciation less of an issue, but more of a concern that I might get hit with maintenance costs. If I'm as unlucky as I have been with the Rover, the car may be effectively worthless when it gets to 9 years old. 3. -
Catch 22 6 Apr 2005 (Forum)
I suggested short term contract hire that I would pay for but he'd be driving the car. Are there any places that do good 6-12 month deals and let someone else be the main driver? The car can be any age up to 4 or 5 years old (probably want included maintenance on the latter!) Once he has been earning decent money for a bit then buying another car that would cope is less of a problem. -
Estate car recommendations? 3 Mar 2003 (Forum)
We've just bought a house that needs some renovation, and could do with a good, reliable vehicle for carting stuff about. I originally planned to get an old transit, but my car insurance company won't transfer the policy onto a commercial vehicle. I don't want to cancel the policy (and lose about 8 months NCB) so i thought about getting a big estate car instead. -
Used car prices in free fall? And some Masonry! 26 Mar 2002 (Forum)
Data was compiled by industry analysts, yewtree.com Editor of Fleet News said folks could borrow £10K to buy a car, sell it for £3K in three years but still owe £4K. So, brummers are not too good an investment right now. Should be some bargains about but what is my old Volvo worth. Thruppence? I haven't borrowed to change a car in years and hopefully never will. -
Is my car an ex-taxi???? 1 Oct 2019 (Forum)
Bought a 2 year old Mondeo tdci from a garage in April, and from marks that I've discovered on the interior tim and bumper panels I'm strongly suspicious that it may be an ex-taxi (and subsequently a clocked one!). Does anyone know of any vehicle checks (hpi etc) that would confirm if a car has been previously registered as having a private hire license?????? -
Grey haze in car glass 21 Aug 2019 (Forum)
My car is fairly old. I clean the glass in and out. There is always a grey haze, which I can't get rid of. I don't know if other people have the same problem or how they clean their glass. I have tried Windowlene, Mr Muscle, TutleWax glass cleaner (budget shop), Astonish anti-fog glass cleaner (better product).... -
Mercedes-Benz A-Class - Rear brake discs 26 Oct 2010 (Forum)
At 3 years old with 15 thousand miles on the clock I would expect this car to pass the first MOT without major failure. My car failed due to badly corroded rear brake discs. This car had been serviced each year by the supplying dealership and is kept in a heated garage. -

Rental cars in Germany 11 Apr 2003 (Forum)
Which one would you rent with Europcar ( http://www.europcar.de ): Vectra 2.2 auto or Mercedes SL350? I'm not old enough for the SL (you have to be 27) What if I told you the SL was cheaper for a weekend by about £20? (About £220 - one of the cheapest ways known to drive serious performance cars, seriously fast, is to go to Germany and rent them from Sixt or Europcar)
