  hi anyone help i put petrol into citreon c5 diesel. any drained all the full system, added fresh diesel and the car started and drove, but around 35 miles later the car warning lamp came on and the car stopped, garage said i need a new fuel pump why

  hi all,i have the 1.8 petrol engine and i have filled it to the top and reset the mileage.it has done just about 350 miles to a tank full.my engine light is on and i know its the egr valve,but is this a normal amount of mileage to a tank full or is the egr causing high useage of fuel????

  I have just bought a Micra 1.2 07 Reg. 7000 miles, still under warranty. Lovely! but the throttle began to catch, then suddenly kick in, as if fuel wasn't reaching one cylinder, at any revs or in any gear. Then the orange malfunction light came on and stayed on. Any ideas? moved into a standalone post

  Toyota has cleaned the EGV valve but makes no difference, otherwise it runs perfect. Mechanic says its a common problem because of UK fuel. I only use SHell diesel. Anybody got any answers ? SHOUTING silenced.

  I've got a very odd electrical problem on my 306. If I turn the ignition on, all the gauges are normal. When I turn the steering wheel, the fuel, temp, rev and speedo needles all move or jump. It can also cause the engine to misfire and cut out. Has anyone any advice on what could be causing it? Thanks

  Car was running fine I stopped and fueled up ,car restarted and ran for a few seconds ,stopped and will now turnover but will not run.Could it be the in tank pump ?Are there any pressure checks I could make to test the pump,or am I looking in the wrong place.I can hear the pump run on ignition arming.

  Apparently (article in "The Daily Telegraph", drivers are going to have some sort of rudimentary evaluation of the efficiency of their driving, in terms of fuel consumption. According to the paper: "The new test has been introduced by the Driving Standards Agency in order to comply with European Union legislation.". Um. Anyway, candidates are going to get advice on how to improve.

  Is it more than counting the number of injections to the manifold and assuming a volume for each, plus counting roadwheel revolutions and assuming a rolling diameter/circumference? And 'distance remaining': the system clearly doesn't know how much fuel the driver puts in, so the tank sensor is used; but this is notoriously vague.

  Due to fuel prices going up and my wages going down, i need to change my car soon. I am after a small petrol or diesel that qualifies for £35 tax and has a low or lowish insurance group, it must also have a timing chain.

  Hi all, Does anyone know if this model/engine will be ok to run biodiesel? Other than replacing the fuel filters more regularly and after the first 100 miles or so, are there any other parts that will need replacing routinely? What ratio is recommended? Any help is appreciated, Cheers

  Hi, This weekend we're picking up a used car and trading in our Ford Ka. We've agreed a total price for the deal but that doesn't include any RFL or fuel, the guy even told me 'we're not a petrol station' :) On that basis I'm inclined to say that I'm not a post office and that I'll cash in the tax on our car before he gets it.   You try to post advice but its ignored, such is the focus on doing it. why? Do you think there`s just just *no awareness* and the fuel injection system and pumps can only be visualised as a plastic squeeze bottle? Regards

  Hello A friend of my wife has a new pcp contract with ford. She has a ka (Not another one) She is unsatisfied with the fuel economy and wants to change to a Diesel Fiesta. (She drives 300 miles a week) Can the PCP contract that she signed for 3 years be shortened to 2 or even scrapped? All help and tips appreciated. -- (iam not a mechanic) Martin Winters

  Does anybody know what the Inland Revenue approved mileage rate is from somebody claiming fuel while using a company car upto 2000cc on business ? I know using your own car is 40p up to 10,000 miles and 25p thereafter, but I can't find a reference to a rate for using company cars I'd expect it to be around 14/15p.
