My Avensis will stall on idle frequently through the day, but once I start driving this seems to stop.
Toyota has cleaned the EGV valve but makes no difference, otherwise it runs perfect. Mechanic says its a common problem because of UK fuel. I only use SHell diesel. Anybody got any answers ?
SHOUTING silenced.

I do not think its a common problem as i drive the same model but a 2litre one. My drives superb and it does not stall at all. I but diesel from any filling station i.e Tesco, sainsbury, shell you name it and i have not had any problems with it. Yes bad fuel can cause problems, but i have always used diesel from any station and atimes i leave it until the lights for fueling comes up before i refuel and infact on an occassion i had just 7miles to get to empty tank before i re-filled and there was no problem.
Since your car is an 06 place, it should still be under Toyota warantee as the problem means the car is not fully fit for purpose. As Toyota is the manufacturer, they should be able to diagnose the real problem better than the trial and error mechanics in town. You really need to take it up with Toyota, also ask questions from Trading standards!!
