  • Zafira Gsi Turbo 15 Dec 2004 (Forum)
We have found one at a local dealer who wants 22695 for a version with full leather, rear sensors, fr. and rr. s/r, and r/rails .Oh he will knock 400 off for cash .Big deal I thought. On H J's suggestion I've been offered one without the trinkets for 17973 through broker4Cars or 20340 with the goodies. Any thoughts gratefully received.
  • ford escort central locking 14 Nov 2004 (Forum)
Hi, My son's just bought a 1991 escort but it has a central locking problem. He is able to lock the doors from the outside but unable to unlock the car from the driver`s side door. Looking at previous forum Q and A's I gather worn locks or keys are the reason. He only has the one key with the car. Is it feasible to swap the passenger door lock with the driver's door lock, this would at least save him having to run around the car every time he needs to get in?
  • How many coats of gloss protection ? 17 Sep 2004 (Forum)
Would it protect better or last longer?? I quite enjoy doing it. After a day failing to make some teenagers any more bright, it\'s good to succeed with something that looks better afterwards, doesn\'t answer back and doesn\'t resent my efforts!!

Hi All Reading through my MX 5's owners manual tonight it's absolutely FULL of "CAUTION!" and "WARNING!" boxes with classics like; "Do not attempt to install the hardtop with the convertible top also up." "Standing in the vehicle...when it's moving is a dangerous way to ride.
  • mid size car for 3 grand? 9 Aug 2004 (Forum)
Ideally would have aircon, and a big enough boot for a weeks camping equipment. Ideas so far include: Citroen Xsara 1.8 (S plate) Audi A4 (120k plus miles N or P plate) Peugeot 306 Which would people say makes the best buy? Any other ideas? SWMBO is tempted by the audi, but do they make good high mileage buys? Thanks people.........
  • Vectra C SRi - Looking for quieter tyres 9 Jul 2004 (Forum)
The Goodyears seem to be an excellent all round tyre, but they are very noisy on certain surfaces.. Anyone know of a quieter alternative in the 215/50 17 sizes? I did try pirelli p6000's on the omega and they were pretty good, but not necessarily ideal. THanks SImon _____________________________________

  • How best to sell Saab 900 18 Mar 2004 (Forum)
my neighbour is swapping her 1997 Saab 900 SE (I think, rather than just an S) for something a little large to accomodate her kids. This 97P has 49k and is an auto and is in *excellent* condition. She is getting a Renault Scenic and it seems that she has been offered £1500 as PX.

  • Pug 206 headlight problem 21 Jan 2004 (Forum)
    cheers, Craig Clachnacudden {I\'ve changed the subject header of your post to something more appropriate - that being the make of car and the problem. It\'s a bit less vague than the one you chose, and also doesn\'t contain a swearword!! DD}
  • Corolla build quality+gearbox grind 18 Jan 2004 (Forum)
ve just purchased a Corolla, and it is booked in for a replacement bonnet as the existing one is incorrectly shaped at the edge giving an odd panel gap at the driver?s side wing junction. Part of the dash does not fit correctly (relatively minor). Is the build quality going down hill with this model? I also appear to be grinding second gear occasionally, this occurs when changing up to second with the clutch fully down any one any ideas why this is occurring?
  • VW Polo (98/99) Cutting out Problem! 13 Jan 2004 (Forum)
I have a S reg VW Polo (98/99) 1.4 16v which keeps cutting out when slowing down from third gear to second. It usually happens when turning into roads and going round roundabouts and is proving to be quite dangerous.

  • Which engined A4 (choice of 2) 13 Nov 2003 (Forum)
I have now decided to get SWMBO the A4 Avant that she has been eyeing up for some time (chiefly because used V40s and Golf Estates are the sme sort of price) and think that I have narrowed it down to 2: P reg 1.9tdi (110 bhp) 60k miles £7.5k S reg 1.8 SE 47k miles £8.5k The diesel being £1k cheaper might swing it for me but would appreciate any thoughts that the BR might have. Mileage that will be covered will not be huge and I anticipate keeping the car for quite/very long time.
  • New road signs, M6 23 Oct 2003 (Forum)
New road signs seem to have popped up along the M6, at least between Knutsford and Stoke. They have a number on them, somewhere in the 200's range, and the number counts down (or up depending on direction) in 0.5 increments between signs. They are about 18"x12" atop a 3 foot pole, and is standard motorway blue. South bound there is a letter B below the number, north bound it is A.
  • Prop shaft noise? Honda Civic 13 Oct 2003 (Forum)
Of course I wouldn\'t like to hear any noise, but what are the long term problems associated with the prop shaft? I think they\'re about £300 to replace, but dunno if it\'s worth it when a car is losing value all the time. Jason
  • number plates 6 Oct 2003 (Forum)
during a nostalgic moment the other night,my friends and myself were discussing all the old cars we used to own,one chap who has had hundreds can still recall them all by their number plates, which prompted me to recall my fathers old hillman super minx which he had in the late 60's. this old banger ended its life on the council tip, but i was wondering what the reg plate would have been worth today,(in those days plate transfer/selling was virtually unheard of)it was RAF 633,any body care to comment?.
  • driveshaft gaiters (CV boots) 20 Jul 2003 (Forum)
It may sound like a daft question, but is it possible to put a new gaiter on an outboard driveshaft joint WITHOUT dismatling the joint(s)? Current problem on the RHS driveshaft of a PUG205 1.8 diesel (88) but(same as GTI) this has an intermediate bearing between inner & outer joints. The manual shows a tool to expand/slide a boot up, but my feeling is you would not be able to stretch the small (driveshaft) end of the boot over the CV joint.
