Help (nobody else can!) 8 Nov 2002 (Forum)
I've got a Peugeot 205 XLD 1989 and over the past couple of weeks it's been cutting out on me about 10 seconds or so after starting. Starts back up again after 15 seconds, revs like hell on it's own then runs fine until its had an hour and a half/2 hours cooling down, then it'll do it again. Taken it to the garage and bascially they're stumped. They've checked no air's getting into it and changed the fuel filter (which was brand new anyway), but have run out of ideas. -

I have owned a '92 Granada Scorpio 2.9i 24v for about 5 years now. I still love the car, runs well, and plenty of power when I want it. My problem is that to be honest its looking now like an old farmers run about, the back arches are scabby, and the paintwork dull. Only have about £7k to spend, considering the old Scorpio is worth about nothing now. -
aircon and air temperature 14 Jan 2002 (Forum)
Hi all I know that a lot of the contributors to the forum recommend leaving the aircon running all year round so as to keep the system healthy. In my mondeo's manual it says that its only ok to use the system when the outside air temperature is +4 deg C or above. But VW have been marketing the Polo on the radio saying that the cars aircon system can be used to heat the car up-I know you can turn the dial round to hot and have hot air coming out but would it not damage the system running it at say 0 deg C ie against the advice in the manual? -
Peugeot 205GTi heater problem 17 Apr 2001 (Forum)
I have a wierd problem with my 1990 205 GTi heater. The fan doesn't work when you operate the rotary switch. I've checked the fan motor and it runs and the switch circuits appear ok too. The real mystery is that when you unplug the cable connector from the back of the switch, the fan motor starts to run but stops as soon as the connector is plugged back into the switch. -

Bump starts, by pushing or by running downhill, are not recommended for modern cars. Why is this? They used to be my winter standby. -
Hyundai ix20 - Day Running Lights Not Fitted in 2015? 8 Sep 2018 (Forum)
My sister in law has just bought herself a 2015 Hyundai ix20. I noticed there were no running lights on when she was following me home from the dealer she purchased it from. I had a quick look last night and couldn't find a fault or any reference to an ability to turn them off in the manual. -

I'm not convinced at all that it can be an injector, i think it's a DMF as the noise goes away once put in gear. My warranty is running out very soon and i am wondering where i stand with an unresolved claim when out of warranty. As i told them about it last year will they still help me? Appreciate any help with this! Thanks -

Re Cat's pause - 3rd September 2016 I had a similar problem to DH with a 2000 1.4 Fabia a few years ago. A fast motorway run followed by idling at an exit junction brought up a warning light followed by 'lumpy' running when pulling away. Filling up with higher octane petrol definitely cleared the problem. Some time later the car began to run unevenly when started from cold. -

Started car,warning came up again,with engine light illuminated aswell as ! exclamation symbol & was running very roughly. Switched off & restarted,running perfectly. VW Passat TDi PD 2005 100 - Poorer MPG after stuck open thermostat 3 Jan 2015 (Forum)
In my 2005 1.9 TDi PD 100 passat, 95k, the thermostat failed open about 6 months after buying it The car ran cooler than normal (of course), and after between 500 and 1000 mile later, I replaced the thermostat. The car runs well now as it did before with no notable running issues, no smoke, good starting, idle OK and pretty steady So whilst I was initially really impressed with mpg in this car when we bought it, it seems markedly worse now. -
Ford Mondeo - disposing a scruffy, uninsured car that runs 17 Feb 2014 (Forum)
This also means I need to declare SORN on it to avoid trouble - this stuffs up a plan to keep it taxed and buy short-term insurance if anyone is interested. The old S reg Ford Mondeo starts, stops and runs beautifully, but is scruffy on the outside (rust and a dented door from being reversed into), has only 2 weeks MoT, tyres are coming to the end, may need some more welding and has a list of non-essential things that no longer work on it. -

Peugot 306 - Cooling fan / car runs when key removed 26 Feb 2011 (Forum)
I took it for a short spin to get the battery charged but when I returned I got a nasty surprise. The engine stayed running even when I turned off the ignition and removed the key! I had to manually stall it to get it to stop. Unsurprisingly the cooling fan came on again though and I expect when I return to the car the battery may well be completely gone.
