  Looking for some info vectra cut out after juddering and would not start again put into garage that was thought fuel pump so stripped out and checked out by diesel engineer everything ok. Now were stumped can any 1 help thanks.

  Have been considering a Duster for the OH but have seen reports of rust, water ingress and fuel gauge problems on early UK Dusters, has anyone had any experiance in owning a Duster abroad, does this just apply to UK models? Maybe at the price it could be considered white goods, but even at £9k one would expect it to last a while.

  Hi I'm new here do forgive me if I do this wrong. Car lacking power, black smoke and excessive oil usage. Removed the fuel filter yesterday to find the diesel black so now I know where the oil is going but where to start to find the problem? High pressure pump?

  Surely when your foot is off the throttle and you are coasting, no modern car is injecting fuel on the over-run?

  my car runs great when cool or i have less than half a tank of fuel but when it's full and reaches normal temp it starts choking, kangarooing and eventual stalls, while this is happening whit smoke come from the exhaust.  What could be the cause of this and could it be something as simple as no ventilation in the tank?

  It's mostly fine other than this, perhaps a little underpowered and the engine sounds like it's working a little harder than it ought to. Could this be a problem with the fuel filter, the injection system or something else entirely?   thanks for any advice in advance,   Tom

  Hi can any1 help. i bought a peugeot 306 private then 4days later it broke down it starts up then cuts out. i called RAC out they said could be my fuel pump does any1 no how much will cost? or it there anyway of fixing this myself? i cant get it to a garage so considering selling it can any1 help!! thanks

  Hi, My wife's Lupo has EML ON. The fault code is logged as P0171 "Lean Burn" Bank 1. The car runs as well as ever with good fuel economy and passed it's last MOT without any emission issues. Can anyone suggest where I should start to find and resolve the problem ? Thanks.for any help.

  I have a 98 fiat scudo,when I try to start it it just turns over and over,I then towed it to bump start it,it started for a couple of seconds but would not rev up,I've changed the fuel filter but still won't start,any suggestions?

  Hi all,,I am going to change the oil and ffilters on my Patrol,,it has 84000 miles on it and as sweet as a nut,, I have heard that using fully synthetic 0w30 is the best,,and helps fuel economy. any thoughts on this one folks,,,or should i stick with the semi diesel engine oil??  thants,,James.

    my dads 2003 mazda 6 was cutting out at idle for a few months then 1 day it wouldnt start. after some research and recommendations i replaced the scv unit on the fuel pump this has not solved the problem car still wont start has anyone else came across this   thanks for looking
• Incorrect refuelling 14 Jan 2011 (Forum)
  Incorrect fuelling could be eliminated by changing the cross section design of the pump nozzle and fuel tank filler pipe. For petrol the nozzle and filler pipe could continue to be round, for diesel the filler pump nozzle and filler pipe should be square section. With the correct dimensions it's possible to ensure that only the petrol pump nozzle would fit the petrol filler and only the diesel nozzle would fit the diesel filler.

  Car stalls while driving, Has had new Fuel Filter & oil filters, one day its ok next day will stop, Any one out there had that problem,Ford Garage did Diognostic check and said they could try something which would cost £130 but wouldn't guarentee would solve the problem

  There is a news item on the right, "ASA rules in favour of Smart car". It revolves around whether a Smart car could drive from London to Edingurgh on a single tank of fuel. The ASA has now allowed the claim by Mercedes-Benz to stand. Isn't ther a very simple way of proving - or otherwise - the validity of this claim? I would be prepared to do the run for them, all expenses paid , of course.

  I was at a SEAT dealer the other day and there was a new notice saying if you use the newest type of Morrisons bio-diesel you will invalidate the warranty on your fuel system, including various bits of the engine. The notice said this new diesel contains 30% (I think that was the proportion) of bio diesel (mixed in with the regular stuff) which was not compatable with the engine.

  As far as I'm concerned the whole idea of owning a diesel is for economy bearing in mind that diesel fuel is about ten pence more per litre, a turbo might not be any cheaper to run than a petrol vehicle.
