How do travellers register their vehicles with the DVLA? To get a V5, or even a driving licence, you need a permanent address. And what about insurance? -

The joys of buying a new car 17 Nov 2007 (Forum)
He'd asked us about mileage and we said we only do 10k/year so whether it does 25mpg or 55mpg is pretty irrelevant really, why would we want a diesel ? short test drive, both did drive it, salesman did a poor impersonation of a german speaking English during the test drive (this was meant to be 'head office') but by this point our mind was made up. took car back, guy left us alone for a while, then came back and said "So, is this the car for you ?" -
Ford Focus flight 2004 - Stalling and knocking, help appreciated!! 9 Jun 2019 (Forum)
Usually happens when driving for 5mins or more. Stops when I break but then starts when I release the break. Now I’ll be honest we have had a look and don’t see any obvious sign saying I’m the problem, passenger outside cv joint and wheel bearing changed, test drive still knocking! -
The "Spatial Awareness" gene 19 Oct 2018 (Forum)
Reverse off their driveway without looking to see if someone happens to be walking past. They are not being rude...just totally unaware! To be honest, they might just as well be driving with blacked out windows on the inside. They are mostly those who drive with their chest 2 inches from the steering wheel, drive with a fixed expression on their face, looking neither left nor right, and do about 35 push pull hand feeds of the steering wheel to do a 45 degree turn. -
how to tell if i've done any damage to engine 12 Sep 2018 (Forum)
Last night while driving my low oil level light came on, i parked up and sat for 10 minutes to try and allow the engine to cool a bit before checking the levels. I tried checking but was getting uncertain readings... dark/rain lashing down and engine most likely still too hot as i had been driving a few hours. -
Pushbike Incident 18 Dec 2015 (Forum)
My teenage son has a paper round which he generally does on his trek mountain bike, he delivers down a street where people do have drives but also park on the pavement. Whilst delivering to adjoining properties he left his bike on the pavement outside one of them, a neighbour the other side reversed her car back past her drive and theirs (they arn't huge drives) and caused a fair bit of damage to my son's drive - she told him to let her know how much it cost. -
Porsche Boxster 986 + Boxster S (1996 - 2004) - Which boxster to buy??? 30 Nov 2014 (Forum)
I don't drive everyday, so when I do it is enjoyable. I like to drive the car as opposed to being driven therefore I feel the manual would be better for me. However, I have been told that the tiptronic gearbox is excellent and to stay away from the sticky clutch of the manual. -
Renault scenic rx4 - Faulty car- want to return it 4 Aug 2014 (Forum)
When I got home I was looking over the car the next morning and had a good look underneath the car which we could not do in the garage, only to discover that the propshaft to the rear wheels was missing. Not too happy as I bought the car for the 4 wheel drive, which I mentioned to the owner several times when I was there. I called him up and told him the propshaft was missing so therefore it was not a 4 wheel drive car , he claimed not to know it was a 4 wheel drive , he replied that he never said it was in his ad , he also mentioned while we were there that he had sold several of them. -

Small claims - what do you think my chances are? 24 Mar 2014 (Forum)
Put it in for an MOT and the garage found it dangerous to drive due to the tyre and track rod end. The other stuff was ignored because it wasn't relevant to an MOT. Weeks of negotiation I issued a pre-court claim, he ignored it so I rang him. He offered me £4700 to buy the car back. -
Renault Megane,Toyota Avensis,Mazda 3- all saloons - Which 08 saloon? 6 Jan 2013 (Forum)
Engineer Andy has given me a lot of help with the Mazda 3 saloon and I would value any further feedback comparing the Renault Megane 1.6, Toyota Avensis 1.8 and Mazda 3 1.6 saloons, all 08 moidels, to guide me to which would be the one to go for. Comfort and quiet driving are important as is a good radio/cd speaker combination and ease of getting into and out of the car - my Megane seats are very low - probably due to age. I do not drive a lot but I do enjoy driving and being in the car - and so a relaxing driving experience is important to me.
