  • Jaguar Mascot - the Leaping Cat 5 Feb 2002 (Forum)
In the USA, Jaguar fit 'leapers' their cars ; current s-Type, XK and XJ ranges. However in the UK I understand that Jaguar have not been allowed to fit leapers' since the days of the MKII and the first S-Type - {which was basically a streached MKII.} I do like the leaper on MKII Jags.

  • Mini Cooper S 2007 - Mini Cooper - Huge Oil Consumption 31 Jan 2017 (Forum)
Approximately 9 months ago the engine of my 2007 Mini Cooper S started making a rattling noise on start up. I took the car to a Mini service garage who informed me that there was no oil in the car, however the oil warning light had not come on. I have regularly checked the oil since then and the car has now used approximately 8 litres of oil, inlcuding an oil change at it's last service with Mini since last summer.
  • Ford Focus 2013 - 17" v 18" alloys. 12 Jul 2015 (Forum)
The rental car had done similar miles, same model year, same engine, basically the same car (Zetec S -v- our titanium) driving on same roads, same driving style. There is one major difference however, my own car has the optional 18" alloys fitted, the Zetec S had 17" std Zetec S wheels. And what a difference 17" rubber makes.
  • Mitsubishi L200 pickups (2000 - 2006) - Type Approval - help needed 21 Feb 2009 (Forum)
I am trying to register an L200 in the UK that was originally registered and used in Southern Ireland. It?s described on the registration certificate as an L200 CREW CAB 4DR. It?s a 2.5 diesel and was first registered in February 2002. The chassis number, I am told, shows that it is not a ?grey import?. DVLA want evidence of ?
  • Citroen AX (1987 -1997) - 1989 1.1 RE, trouble with front brakes 16 Dec 2008 (Forum)
Reliable old AX11 that always starts well and runs well. Has been a cheap car to run and not much has gone wrong. Recently when braking sharply the N/S front wheel seems to lock up but the car does not pull to N/S when applying the brakes. Brakes work OK it is just that they now lock up a wheel when they did not do this before. There is no ABS on this old car.
  • Volkswagen Passat (1988 - 1997) - S reg. 1.8T auto: any use over 100k? Price? 6 Aug 2008 (Forum)
He told me yesterday he had seen a Passat 1.8 auto with 110,000 miles on it for sale outside someone's house. I am not sure what S reg means in terms of age though. If it is pre-1998 the asking price of £2,400 sounds a bit steep to me. My friend says he believes the seller to be an honest private owner and that the car is a 1.8T.
  • Ford Escort (1993 - 2000) - 1997 1.8 Central locking - n/s/r door not working 7 Jul 2008 (Forum)
Hi all, I believe there is no power getting to the n/s/r door central locking motor as it fails to react (either lock, unlock or deadlock) when the other doors are locked or unlocked. I have stripped the panel off the inside of the door and peeled back the foam sheet (this has never been done before so I took care to carefully preserve the mastic sealant as much as possible) but I can't see any obvious fault with the wiring or the locking solenoid.
  • Alfa Romeo 156 Cam Belt Failure 23 Mar 2007 (Forum)
Have noticed quite a few comments on forums concerning the reliability of Alfa Romeo Cam belts (in particular the cam belt tensioners) failing on Alfa 164?s and 156?s, well before their scheduled replacement (72K). I have an Alfa 156 (3 ½ years old) that has covered 63K and bang went the cam belt a couple of weeks ago. Now facing a large bill to rebuild the engine.
  • Astra 1.7 TD estate (98 S) 12 Apr 2005 (Forum)
Hello Folks I am a new user so please be gentle! I have a Astra 1.7 TD estate (98 S) which when driving is pulling to the offside (to the right). I thought it was the tracking and so took it to a garage who tracked it and when I asked them if it was out they said oh yes by miles.
