Has the law made my cupholders redundant? 6 Jun 2008 (Forum)
Avoid distractions when driving or riding such as loud music (this may mask other sounds) trying to read maps inserting a cassette or CD or tuning a radio arguing with your passengers or other road users eating and drinking smoking I read this list as advisory rather than mandatory, as something which I should take care of because it might be dangerous, rather than something which is banned in any circumstances. -
Volvo S60 (2000 - 2009) - 2.0T S - 124k FVSH - good buy? 13 Mar 2008 (Forum)
A couple of minor trim creaks only. Otherwise quiet and refined. Good spec - all electrics, part leather, radio/CD, cruise, air-con (all working) Things wrong with it: It's falsely reporting a blown sidelight bulb One of the boot lid struts is broken Minor scuffing on bumper corners. Shortly in need of two front tyres. -
Peugeot 406 Coupe - Fault Code help! 18 Apr 2007 (Forum)
It has recently been to Peugeot after repeatedly coming up with "anti-pollution system defective" on the car's radio/information screen, along with Engine management light on the dashboard being lit. I have my own code reader and the code causing this was "P0430 Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 2)". -
Auctions..buyer beware 27 May 2004 (Forum)
Along came the car, no smoke or nasty noises although I had failed to check under the bonnet. Bidding stopped at £2100. I was the new owner. Got the car home, all seemed well. Radio was in 'safe' mode, typical. Thought I better give the car a thourough once over. Pulled the bonnet and straight away spotted the gunge on the inside of the expansion tank. Upon inspection the water was more oil than water. -
5 weeks with a Benz A180 elegance 30 Oct 2001 (Forum)
on the down side were the nasty orange door decals advertising the firm... the single lighter socket got a bit cramped with 3 things plugged into it and while shifting my hand would sometimes push the assembled plugs into the radio controles... the 3 headrests on the rear seat blocked most of the view of the inside mirror till I removed them after the first 10 miles. If M-Benz sold the A class in north amercia I would buy one... -

I'm taking my car off road for 6 months. Do you have any storage/maintenance tips? 4 May 2021 (Ask HJ)

Toyota Prius plug in 2017 - Very quick review 7 Feb 2018 (Forum)
In addition large satnav screen which also doubles as reversing camera screen, audio info, vehicle power source graphic and a host of other stuff I didn’t have time to play with! DAB radio as standard - |I managed to navigate the radio quite quickly. Also has heads up display – not sure if it adds to the car. The clock was wrong, no idea how to change it. Surprised it didn’t just sync with the satnav – even our forfour does that. -

I bumped another car but am being asked to fix damage I didn't cause - am I liable? 5 Aug 2010 (Ask HJ)

Citroen C4 Picasso 5-st (2007 - ) - Quick review (well, rant) 28 Mar 2009 (Forum)
Good technology supports you and you don't realise it's happening. Bad interfaces and implementation ruin good ideas. Oh, and the radio is rubbish for a car that should cost nearly £24k new. -
Nissan Micra - 14 day French road test 27 Oct 2005 (Forum)
There were lots of little cubbies to put things in - though most of them were indeed little. The car was well equipped. There was a CD/radio - not that I tried either - having no interest in French radio, and not carrying CDs with me when I go on holiday (does anyone?). There was air-conditioning, which we ran for a total of about 20 minutes in two weeks, much preferring to open the windows (electrically, of course). -

Vauxhall Astra 2006 1.8 - Car will not start! argh! 22 Apr 2016 (Forum)
This has now changed, 4 days ago the alarm changed from it speedy noise to a slower paces hiiiiiiigh-loooooooow etc which goes for approx 10 seconds. The car now refuses to start, I can use the Radio/lights/wipers everything, it all feels like it is working fine, but it will not start, I am wondering if the power sounder battery being low would cease the car from starting? when I turn the ignition, I can hear a faint click but nothing after it, which leads me on to either; The battery not having enough power to kick it. -
Citroen C5 II (2008 - ) - New Citroen C5 Early report 16 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Those on the steering wheel [centre module stays in a fixed position] are easy enough, controlling volume, cruise control/limiter, radio station etc. I like the reverse gear parking aid in such a large car too. It's not that easy to gauge width when turning left tightly but I'll adapt I hope. 1st 200 miles at 45 mpg in mixed driving which I hope will improve further. -

Motorway congestion - A Typical Week? 15 Oct 2007 (Forum)
Coup de Grace was Dartford - , I got over the bridge without problem but then spent the best part of an hour stuck in the mess of roadworks at the M25 / A2 Junction 2. I had plenty of time to listen to the radio traffic reports and luckily picked up on yet another accident on the M23 southbound that blocked two lanes. After getting through the A2 junction I noticed that the northbound queue solid on the opposite carriageway back to Junction 4 , must have been five miles or so solid. -
Corsa to sell - effort to put in 27 Apr 2007 (Forum)
I had originally thought nothing expecting it to be 1-1.5k but at the prices that are being asked would it be worth: 1. getting ding fixed 2. getting bonnet damage sorted. 3. change radio back to standard and sell CD unit on E-bay 4. Re-paint the wheel trims (or replace if this does not work) 5. Establishing exactly what model it is - I think it is a Club (remote central locking, steel wheels, elec f windows, CD player, RWW, not much else). -
Worn brakes on car just bought 22 Apr 2007 (Forum)
The firm are not easy to deal with, and I suggested if they get nowhere by being polite and asking for some contribution towards the new disks and pads, they might try the very helpful consumer programme on Radio Northampton. I would be glad of any thought BRers might offer. -
Posting of Video Clips - clarification 31 Oct 2006 (Forum)
Please be also aware that I understand that many employers are now implementing systems that restrict the viewing of videos, online radio listening, and the like. So bear the following in mind when posting a clickable video clip. If someone who browses the BackRoom at work were to unintentionally click on that link, a report could get logged to their IT department.
