  • BMW 3 Series Touring E91 - Intermittent Long Crank 30 Oct 2013 (Forum)
Car is aprox'10 months old, normally starts up from cold perfectly but every 4-5 weeks it has a habit of struggeling to start.Instead of firing up straight away the engine cranks over for about 4 seconds or so then fires up.The problems goes away but then returns like I said after 4-5 weeks.I get this problem in the middle of winter or the middle of summer so its not weather related.Have had the car in the garage once no fault found,no fault codes stored in the memory.A friend has suggested it sounds like a fuel pump problem?.
  • VW Mk 7 Golf TDI 2.0 SE dsg. - Very Disappointed 1 Aug 2013 (Forum)
Am I the only person disappointed with their new Golfs economy and performance? I only seem to get 350/400 miles per full tank but my old Mk5 GTD dsg did 600/650 per tank. It also seems to labour in high gears when it should automatically change down. Have spoken to them at VW UK and was told they are all like this, is that correct or will they eventually recall cars for a replacement ECU or a remap.

  • peugeot 306 - Peugeot 306 ignition lock change 6 Dec 2012 (Forum)
Hi guys, Have a pug 306 hdi and a couple of days ago the spring return in the ignition barrel went sloppy and won't return to it's correct position automatically so went to a scrappy today and got another barrel together with it's key. Trouble is after we fitted it the car will turn over properly but won't start. I presume this is something to do with the immobilizer transponder so put the old lock and key back in and sure enough the car started first time. Does anyone know if there is a way round this problem or if not is there a way to repair the original barrel so that the spring return works again.

  • Bessacar - motorhome problems 8 May 2012 (Forum)
We purchased a second hand motorhome at considerable cost over 2 years ago.The vehicle is only 4 years old. Dealer who sold us the car refuses to take the car back for resale as the floor has rotted from underneath. He told us that this was a known manufacturing defect, but claimed that the floor did not have a problem when they sold it to us, so it is not his problem.
  • Mondeo Mk3 V6 - Battery charging problem - alternator fault? 26 Mar 2012 (Forum)
Hi, my mondeo is just over 6 years old so when the AA man pronounced the battery dead after a call out for a non start I was not surprised. However, about a month later the new battery is flat and the car won't start. If I charge the battery up it seems ok, but does not really seem to charge properly from the engine.
  • Mazda 6 - Sluggish performance 24 Dec 2011 (Forum)
I have used 'redex fuel injector' in my last 4 tankfuls - hasnt made a single difference I give my car an 'italian tuneup' once a fortnight or so involving 5-10 minutes of around 4k rpm on the motorway Could it just be that the engine it getting old now?  It's on 98k.  It's an auto if that makes a difference.
  • Volvo V70 - Dual Mass flywheel 28 Nov 2011 (Forum)
I have read a lot recently about dual mass flywheels failing and wondered if I should get it replaced at the same time as the car has done 102k miles. Suggestions would be welcome. I do intend to keep the car for a good few years yet. It is an 07 model 2.4 the last of the old shape.                                    Thanks
  • Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec Petrol Manua - Sep 2010 Model - Ford Focus Starting Engine Not Starting 20 Sep 2011 (Forum)
When I try to restart my car after a short journey and stop (after visiting shops, say), the ignition lights come on, low noise, no engine sound, and no power. I have to then press the accelerator hard and the engine bursts into life Car is one year old, bought from new and recently serviced by a Ford dealer.
  • CRV 2007 - Battery, it would seem! 26 Aug 2011 (Forum)
I measured the charging voltage at just over 14volts, so I think that should be OK. The car was serviced by Honda 4 months ago and the battery was checked. The car has only done 30,000 miles ..... Is it me or do I need a new battery? Thank you all for looking.

  • Mercedes-Benz ML-Class - Headlight misting 14 Dec 2010 (Forum)
I removed the units sealed the edges with silicone sealant dried them out again and it returned once more. My local garage said run the car with main beams on for 1/2 an hour but that did not remove all of the moisture, only in the area of the main beam bulb. have you any suggestions I do not want to pay £400 for new units there must be an easier way the car is 6 years old and apart from this problem the lights are pristine.

  • 2000 Volkswagen Passat 1.9 TDI - Replacement Aerial 4 May 2010 (Forum)
Hi, my radio reception has been dodgy at best for quite a while and the other day I went through one of those automated car washes (silly I know as they are c***). Anyway, it broke my aerial and need a replacement. The bottom part of the old one is still intact and unscrews easily so was wondering if any of you can tell me is either of these a suitable replacement: http://www.carstereos4u.co.uk/volkswagen-aerial-antennas-and-mast/vw-volkswagen-oe-original-car-aerial-replacement-mast-2096318-394207-.php http://www.meanmachines.biz/store/vw-volkswagen-passat-phaeton-polo-aerial-antenna-mast.html?
  • Very high profile tyres 30 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Brand new Corsa today, looked different, slightly better IMO, and i realised what the difference was, it was on proper old fashioned high profile tyres with steel wheels...haven't seen 70 aspect tyres on a new car for ages. These were 185/70 x 14 Continentals, really high sidewalls that must have plenty of give for coping the third world bodged up roads increasingly common here, certainly rode up the decks smoothly where some cars will shake your fillings out.
  • Pressure washers 16 Jan 2010 (Forum)
I've had my first brand new car for 2 weeks now and as the weather has improved it's time to wash it. And boy am I anxious as I don't want to scratch the paintwork. Does everybody go through this with their first new car?! I think it's now time to ditch the old bucket and sponge and get a pressure washer instead.
