The only thing missing is steering wheel controls, but I figure no-one has got that right yet (apart from Renault who's implementation of remote stereo controls is superb) Sitting in the car listening to the long version of "money for nothing" I pondered on how far we had come in all things digital music and in car ICE since 1973.
  • Problem getting a resonable price newish van MPV 6 Jan 2010 (Forum)
We are in need of a second car and I dont want to have to take out a short term rental. I did try a renault dealership regarding the new kangoo and they offered £250 of list price, also im not convinced about the durability of the kangoo van. I know its a new chassis but the old kangoo van was a dog.
  • My dad is back to buying a car, so... 6 Aug 2009 (Forum)
So far the cars that spring to mind are : Skoda Fabia 1.6 estate, Chevy Lacetti( its so cheap ), Nissan Note, Renault Clio Tourer, Seat Ibiza, Hyundai Matrix, Kia Ceed, VW Polo. Some are just big superminis but they come so big these days they might do the job. He stated he isnt interested in performance, handling or badge, just a pleasent ownership experience and a car that will last him ten years or so ( he reckons thats what he has left!

I wasn't driving, and it seemed to take an age to get a signal. This isn't the first time in this car. I thought perhaps that the Renault I was in had one of them new style photo-chromatic something or other windscreens as it only picked up 4 satellites. The most it ever had was 9 but more commonly 6-7. It got us there certainly.

My preferred choices would still be the Merc engines.
  • New motor advice 16 Nov 2004 (Forum)
[Sorry this has gotten a bit lengthy, i'm a very wordy chap!] Hi Folks, OK, I'm replacing my aging (N Reg) Renault Clio 1.9D, for a number of reasons. 1. It's looking a bit tatty, and i'm having to go visit clients for my firm a lot more recently, and it doesn't look good. 2. It's a bit small. Since buying the car i've taken up Scuba diving, and the clio isn't really big enough to lug two peoples kit around in comfortably (saying nothing of the weight of said kit). 3.
  • JD Power Survey overrated? 6 May 2004 (Forum)
If we apply that grading here, even the worst result only narrowly misses the top grade. Second-last place goes to the Renault Espace on 72.8%, which is a clear first-class ranking. The best cars get very similar results The top ten cars have ratings so close that they are probably within the margin of error.
  • What to buy????????? 3 Jan 2003 (Forum)
Good refinement not as good a steer as Mondeo, but, comes with climate, cruise and CD player as standard! Cheap to buy and insurer.Quality and reliability an issue. Renault Laguna Sport Tourer 1.9 DCi. Can't stretch to the 2.2DCi, but what a good looking car, Dynamique trim. CD player, climate, but alas no cruise. VW Passat estate 1.9 TDi SE (130). Bit dear, and have you read any of the owners views on 4car web site.
  • Landrovers. Good or bad? A farmer's view 14 Jan 2002 (Forum)
But must say that those bl--dy Froggies turn out some good vehicles. Barry, you may of seen him on the road, always prefers damn Renault tractors. It's such a crime that the U.K lost deservedly, a lot of trade, From the days in 1950 when we supplied 90% of the world's motorbikes. 30 different makes, to the rubbish cars they were making, until the Japanese made 'em buck their ideas up.
  • Review of 3 Scenics 8 Sep 2004 (Forum)
Previous Scenics had storage space under the rear seats, which was only accessible by folding the seats out the way. Renault have improved on this by having a pull out drawer under the seats instead, similar to the ones in the front seats which makes these much more accessible and useful for the passengers. If you have kids, a couple of nice touches.
  • Any From The Guardian - Electric car short term lease 16 Mar 2021 (Forum)
For £389 a month – with no up front deposit – Onto will provide a Renault Zoe 135 capable of about 190 miles on a full charge. As with Netflix, the contract automatically renews each month unless you cancel, meaning that as long as you keep paying, the car stays outside your house.
  • FAO Honest John, the Indian Dacia Duster Problems 5 Feb 2014 (Forum)
--[endif]--> Dusters displaying warning lights and going into limp home mode. Dealers get a number of error codes which Dacia/Renault technical support so far has not responded. Example on Dacia owners forum of Duster been with dealers for 2 months and still they cant work out what’s wrong with it.
  • Advice on MPV / 3 child seat friendly car 17 Mar 2025 (Forum)
Toyota Verso seems reliable but we saw one today and it feels a bit small and really unappealing. I've heard mixed things about the reliability of the Renault Scenic and the Citroen C4 Picasso and so I don't want that headache. I was previously looking at auto cars because my wife hasn't yet passed her test and has found learning VERY slow and difficult.
  • Small/mid auto SUV - any recs? 10 Aug 2021 (Forum)
And what do you think about the ones we've considered so far: Mini Countryman (my wife's preference!); Mazda CX3; Renault Captur; Honda H-RV (but only the petrol comes with an auto, and the reviews of the petrol engine performance aren't great); Suzuki Vitara (which rarely if ever have heated seats...). Final off the wall consideration - though it is more expensive, I've also seen online a 2 year old Hyundai Kona EV.

  • Citroen C4 Grand Picasso - Faults on recently purchased used car 13 Feb 2019 (Forum)
Do I let them have a chance at fixing it or give it back an ask for a refund? I've been stung by a French car before (b***** Renault) and I really don't want to go through the aggro again to be honest. The trader also owns a garage and mot'd the car the day before I bought it with no advisories or anything. Any ideas?
  • What I eventually bought 3 Aug 2015 (Forum)
Last week I bought a 3 year old Nissan Qashqai+2 1.6 Acenta. I drove a Peugeot 5008 which I hated, and then a Renault Grand Scenic which was better but still felt too much like piloting a barge. The Qashqai+2 was very familiar as I had a 5 seater Qashqai for 3 years before buying my automatic Skoda when a shoulder injury stopped me changing gear.

  • An open letter to Nissan 29 May 2007 (Forum)
I do not have enough paper to recount the various tales of woe I have to tell, so if details are required I will gladly oblige ? dating back many years. I cannot help but think that since the tie up with Renault component quality has gone down, as has quality control. The drive to reduce costs has impacted terribly on your product ? a short term view in my opinion as happy customers are likely to return and keep returning.
  • Please advise - New car up2 17k 27 Apr 2007 (Forum)
Cars i sort of discounted based on manufacturers i'm not keen on - Ford / Citroen / vauxhall / VW / renault - Honda (New) Civic : Guy opposite has one, design when new was wow thats pretty nice but now its just the same old new honda civic, very odd and spacey. So i'm left thinking, do i go for diesel, shall i buy new (depreciation i hate that word) or just forget and enjoy, shall i consider another car or shall i just stick with my trusty run of the mill car that has never let me down and is stupidly cheap to run.
