• VW Transporter - Advice: Buying van with wrong colour on the V5c 26 Feb 2016 (Forum)
  I am going to see a VW Transporter which was a white van according to the HPI checks but is now sprayed orange.  The seller has claimed he forgot to change the V5C which still claims its a white van.  Am I able to buy the van and then change the colour with the DVLA?  Cheers

  Hi all, At the weekend I bought a used car from a dealer, it is an ex-Motability car so the taxation class on the V5C is still 'Disabled'. The dealer has the V5C and will be sending that off to DVLA, and I will then receive the new V5C with my details on it.

  Hi A friend has just bought a car privately from someone who works in the motor trade who was running the car himself and he in turn appears to have bought the car from a friend who is another dealer as a trade car and has been running it as such (i.e. he never bothered to get the V5C). So the problem is there is no  V5C with the car and obviously my friend is obviously trying to get the thing registered in his name. The last V5C was issued in 2011. It was suggested that he fill in a V62 application for registration certificate which he did but when he took this to the local post office the DVLA system declined/rejected it.

  Checking the Govt MOT history site today I see you now need the V5C number to access the certificate. Previous years' history is still there but presumably that will disappear on a rolling basis in future years. Unless I've missed something this change hasn't been mentioned in this forum so this must have changed very recently.

  I do not think i will receive a reminder from the DVLA, to take with me to tax the car. How do i tax the car if i only have the V5C/2 (the little green slip) and the docs mentioned above without the reminder from the DVLA.

  So a family member bought car. The seller provided a fake v5c logbook, only the person realised afterwards as they tried to come and tax the vehicle. The reference from the v5c isn’t working. At this point we didn’t think it was stolen. I checked HPI clear no stolen We applied for v62 , after month delay send the letter to provid the pictures of the car with vIN number of back and forth with all the pictures everything provided, they finally I got the v5C , then after I sold the car for need the money , after few days I got the letter from DVLA said the inspection team we’ll contact you for the car but I already sold the and transferred to the person who bought it , so today the person send the message said the police is coming don’t worry , I sold the car legally with v5C on my name , any advice what should I do please ?

  Got an NIP for speeding, but sent to my parent's address, since I hadn't updated it on the V5C yet. My address is updated on the license and insurance, but I clean forgot about the V5C - which is obviously the address that was given when they ran the plate. The question is this: which box do I tick for the question 'Are your above details correct?'

  A man offered to buy my car while I was sprucing it up at the garage to take for an MOT.   After a lot of faffing around I agreed to sell it to him.  I signed the V5C/3 and he said he would fill out his address.  Didn't have my glasses and when I got home I realised he hadn't filled out his street address - just an odd name and a postcode. Have I been stupid and am I in trouble?

  When I bought the car, we were doing the logbook change online. He was having trouble with the 'document number' from the V5C. Eventually, his colleague said put a "1" on front of it and it seemed to work.  I have phone DVLA and they have no record on a change. So I have to fill in some paperwork.  Anyone know why this has happened?

  I've asked to rename the owner on registration document, otherwise I won't buy the car and he's done it online and will wait for new logbook with his name. that said, the logbook he showed me didn't have the V5C/3 part. Can anybody tell what that would mean? When I asked him, he of course said it wasn't relevant. it seems that paet is filled in case of sale of the car dealer, putting it to the insurance company or to fight.

  Apparently when you renew the VED, or declare SORN, from June 2004 on, then shortly after you will be reissued with a new V5C for your vehicle, this will continue until June 2005 after which time every vehicle should have a new V5C. The new V5C's will be a common format across the EU and will enable re-registration of the vehicle in any EU country.

  Inevitably the care home cost look as though his house will need to be sold, and we do not have room to store the car, so we decided to get the car MOT done which cost us £300 and are now thinking of selling it. So the question is!!! We have sent for a new V5C online in my wife's name but we are worried that if we are legally challenged should we have put the original date or the current date on the V5C as proof ? Thank you

  Now I know another owner have same car the same model, the same colour, the same number plate, the same number of logbook. It is possible dvla send 2 the same logbooks V5C to two diffrence people? Probably 1 car is clone (I think) but why dvla send 2 the same logbooks to 2 diffrence people and 2 diffrence address? Also each car have separate car insurance, separate road tax and separate valid MOT test/ What I can do now?
