  2000 VW POlo gti 16v air con ,climate . Air blower will only blow hi or low not to a specific temp e.g 20 degrees (hot or cold nothing in between)you can hear heater flap open and close. Any ideas ?worth a visit to vw or independant air con specialist.

    We tried opening the windows a bit which seemed to ease the situation a little.  Having the windows almost fully open with the air con running was about the best we could come with, but seems to make air con almost pointless. Is there any way of reducing the drying effect of the air con or even adding some moisture somehow?

  I have just had my air con re-gassed however the air con is not coming on now at all - the light comes on but pump doesn't kick in. Any ideas? The outside temperature reading has broken and is reading -5 degress. Could this be affecting it?

  2005 Mk1 Fabia Estate. 1.9TDi FSH from new, but no mention anywhere of any work or recharging of the air con. Currently in Spain and whilst the air con does work, I am not convinced that it works as well as it could; that might be due to the heat. My question is, to what temperature should the system cool the air, or by how much from ambient should it drop?

  Just had a letter from my VW dealer suggesting that the air con on my Passat should be serviced every 2 years at a price of £89.95. Is this yet another way for dealers to make money or is there any validity in the idea? My Passat is 4 years old and the air con (climate control) works perfectly.

  I recently found a tiny leak in my reciever drier on my sharan air con. Would this stop the pump on the engine working or is there a differant problem. Is there any way of testing the pump. The fans do kick in when activate air con switch.

  Haven't really bothered with the air-con since I bought the car a couple of months ago, but I've noticed that it's not very cold at all. Compressor is working, because the revs change when the air-con's switched on, and the car won't climb hills with it on!
