London Bikesafe event, date for your diary in June 2 Mar 2009 (Forum)
These presentations, by the London Fire Brigade and London Ambulance Service, use a real car and dummies to demonstrate how the emergency services work together to extract people trapped in the event of a traffic collision. Leading motorcycle manufacturers and dealers, classic bikes, specialist motorcycling merchandise will be represented at stands and refreshments will also be available throughout the day. The National BikeSafe show was first hosted by West Mercia Constabulary in 2002 and has grown steadily ever since. -
Daewoo Nexia Head Gasket 14 Apr 2007 (Forum)
This spindle appears to be retained with a 13mm hex head bolt, this bolthead was visible through a hole in the lower TB cover - which did lead me to think that it might be linked to the method of tensioning the TB (without having to remove the TB cover. But I think now, it has nothing to do with tensioning, and is just a spindle - Am I right about that? -
Six months with a Skoda 16 Jan 2007 (Forum)
On paper the Skoda won due to the better spec, bigger boot, better looking dash and inverted snobbery. The only lead the Focus had over the Skoda was a better crash test result. The car arrived in August last year having been driven up from our lease company?s pound in Oxford and so had 400 odd miles on it to start with and since then I have followed the breaking in advice in the FAQ section. -

Best & Worst drivers by region 1 Aug 2005 (Forum)
I stumbed across the following data from Admiral at http://www.admiral.com/pressOffice/pressReleases/250105.phtml and found it very interesting: The best and worst places for motorists in 2004 revealed Motorists in the Harrow area of London had the worst driving record of anywhere in the country last year, according to research by a leading insurer. Financial intermediary Admiral has looked at the claims frequency of one million motorists across the UK in 2004 and produced a list of the ten best and ten worst places in the country. -
1999 Passat Electrics, niggles 17 Sep 2004 (Forum)
It's not a major worry if this is all that might happen (I rarely use this function), but I'm concerned that a problem with the central locking could lead to someone being trapped in the car, or the car becoming unlockable. Finally, from time to time the one-shot operation for opening or closing the driver's window doesn't always work - the window only continues to open/close if I keep my finger on the button. -
Big Brother Speed Limiters 10 Apr 2003 (Forum)
It is not known, however, if an override would be included if the device was approved for general use. Professor Oliver Carston from Leeds University?s department of transport studies, who is leading the project denied it smacked of Big Brother. ?I don?t think it is Big Brother to enforce the law,? he said. ?This system is cheaper than speed cameras and more effective at changing driver behaviour.? -
Santa's vehicular dilemma 13 Dec 2002 (Forum)
IV. 600,000 tons traveling at 650 miles per second creates enormous air resistance --- this would heat up the reindeer in the same fashion as a spacecraft re-entering the earth's atmosphere. The lead pair of reindeer would absorb 14.3 quintillion joules of energy per second each. In short, they would burst into flames almost instantaneously, exposing the reindeer behind them and creating deafening sonic booms in their wake. -

Mondoe Mk3 - Fender-Bender reimbursment 26 Apr 2019 (Forum)
I have managed to obtain the CCTV footage and it shows exactly what happened; ten seconds after I stopped behind him in a hospital ‘Drop Off’ zone, he reversed around 6 feet into me. Attempts to contact him lead to zero response, until I received a letter from my insurance company (who I had already contact but told that I did not yet wish to proceed with a claim) telling me that his legal team had been in written, claiming that I “Failed to take heed of the presence of our clients parked and attended vehicle” and as a result, he has lower back whiplash injury. -

FIAT Grande Punto - Fiat GPunto starting problem, glow plugs 13 May 2014 (Forum)
2. If it's not the glow plugs, what could it be? Electrical? GPCM? The flashing glow plug light leads me to suspect something is still wrong there... What should I get checked next? 3. Could this somehow be a consequence of me starting the car in a wrong way in my first month after bying? What are the possible problems caused by such a start? -

Ford Focus 2.0i ESP 2000 petrol - Car battery capacity 21 Nov 2011 (Forum)
It was fitted 1 Dec 2009 with a 5yr warranty I'm wondering what capacity I should expect - ambient temp around 5-12 deg.C - Typical day is a) 5 miles country roads (to gym), 1 set of lights 30-60 mph < 15 mins b) 5 miles country roads (to work), 30-60 mph normally 1 set, recently 3+ due to roadworks (*) ~ 15 mins c) 4 miles (home), o****ry roads ~30mph ~ 10-12 mins On (*) above the roadworks are currently resulting in a slow 4 way controlled junction leading to an up to 4-5 minutes wait. I've probably switched the engine off, probably once, at this junction to save fuel/emissions I don't do many longer journeys - sometimes at weekend, but probably nothing for last few weeks. -
Vauxhall Corsa CDTi 05 plate - V Bad fuel consumption + minor electrical niggles 26 Jan 2011 (Forum)
I have done Liverpool to Aberdeen (some 375 miles once i get through the town) on 3/4 tank from brimmed. I have a lead foot so can do 85mph when average speed cameras allow. Based on this I reckon I get about 125miles to 1/4 tank which tallys with my old commute distances v consumption (again motorways). I don't know how to work out mpg, so sorry. -

Citroen C5 - C5 2.0 HDi failed and found timing incorrect/rocke 26 May 2010 (Forum)
I also noticed the turbo didn't engage, and the cruise control didn't work. I continued my journey, but after 700 miles, the vehicle suffered another problem which lead me to call out the RAC. I had booked the vehicle in back at the servicing garage to be looked at when I returned, but it didn't get that far. It was taken to another Citroen garage who found the timing to be incorrect (about a tooth out; the timing pin wouldn't go in, though which way and on what gearwheel I don't know).
