  • Fiat Doblo - Really Awkward Drive (between buildings) 7 Oct 2020 (Forum)
Got a really narrow drive (between buildings) and constrains us to a vehicle that gives us the need for rear walk in access (the space useful as well). Does that constrain us to the Fiat Doblo only?. Maybe other makes?.
  • 6 Jan 2020 (Forum)
agree with HJ on many things BUT left foot braking? Never Might be OK if you're learning to drive and will only ever drive an auto but those of us brought up with right fot braking and those who drive autos and manulas NO Be honest - an emergency needing hard/emergency braking and your foots on the brake without you even thining about it

  • aggressive driving 16 Dec 2012 (Forum)
I sense many drivers have a  lower tolerance of other road users than a few years ago. Driving through Southampton last night was quite difficult as  all the junctions are unknown and getting the right lane first time is quite a feat. Any small mistake is greeted with hoots and  abuse.

  • Driving into central London on a Sunday 7 Oct 2010 (Forum)
How easy is it to drive into London on a Sunday and is it possible to park all day (relatively) cheaply and securely?  Coming from Southampton, btw and would be making an early start to arrive 9-ish.  It's over £90 for a family of four on the train, £80 if I buy a railcard.
  • Illiteracy and the driving test 7 Apr 2010 (Forum)
I just wondered if illiterate people are allowed to drive. A neighbour of mine is semi illterate and has just passed his theory although I'm not sure how as he can hardly read. Is he given a verbal test? Then there is the question of reading road signs and hazards signs what happens there?
  • Automatics-Drive or Neutral? 14 Jan 2010 (Forum)
Just been wondering, in the interests of transmission longevity, what's the best method when stopped at a red light or in queueing traffic with an auto? Slip it into neutral or leave it in drive with the parking brake on? (unless the guy behind has his front foggies on-then give 'em a tan I say!) ;-)

  • Graded driving licence 20 Jan 2009 (Forum)
Should we have graded car driving licences in the UK? First 2 years after test, less than 70 BHP normally aspirated. 2 to 5 years after test up to 120 BHP. Over 5 years unlimited. Or would this upset the "celebs".
  • Do cars learn from your driving habits? 1 Aug 2008 (Forum)
I was reading something the other day about a car with an adaptive automatic transmission and I now wonder how common are adaptive bits and pieces in the electronics so that the car does learn how you drive. Any thoughts?
