Giulietta or Civic?

I need a new car and I like the Honda Civic and Alfa Romeo Giulietta. I will be doing mainly suburban driving, occasional motorway runs and low mileage - probably 6000/9000 miles a year.

Essentials are:- reliability, good to drive, economical to run, comfortable. Which would you recommend?
