  • n/a - Motability pros/cons & vehicle choice 9 Jan 2017 (Forum)
:) Having had a brief look at what cars are available with only a small initial one off payment, so far we feel we'd be looking at a Citroen C4 Grand Picasso diesel but whether it'd be something we'd want to keep after the 3 years are up I couldn't say. It looks a very nice car but there's always the reliability question.  Also, although I like driving mine, life's getting increasingly tough for diesels and who knows what the rules will be like in 2020.
  • Any - Cheap way improve fuel economy by 10% ? 24 Sep 2014 (Forum)
When I consider that several manufacturers (e.g. Toyota, Honda, Citroen etc) charge upwards of an additional 3 to 5 thousand pounds for a petrol or diesel electric 'hybrid' version of several of their standard models - only to achieve little better than a 5 mpg real world improvement - then my invention, which could be applied to any modern petrol or diesel car for probably much less than £500 on the RRP - should be far more attractive.
  • No satnav, forgot map? Ring Dad! 27 Aug 2007 (Forum)
He is philosophical about being bullied on the A1 by some truck drivers and some BMW drivers who are too important to obey the 40mph limit under the Scotch Corner flyover; he deploys the Citroen AX's perky 50 bhp to keep up with the traffic yet he is not so lead-footed as to crucify the expected MPG. He shows IMO maturity, and appropriate assertiveness and restraint in his driving. Today, he faced a navigation challenge; to leave college in Darlington and find his way to work in Newby Wiske.
  • Xantia Suspension Strange Behaviour Help 27 Jun 2007 (Forum)
good evening, wondering if any of you knowledgeable folks could help with a suspension problem im having on a '97 citroen xantia 1.9td. basically the front or rear suspension will behave randomly. the car has just had it's accumulator sphere replaced, and the lhm fluid replaced. i have checked the white plastic clips are present on the linkages and heavily lubricated the linkages.
  • Please advise - New car up2 17k 27 Apr 2007 (Forum)
    - Honda Civic Type-R : The petrol oddball on my list but would save a bucket of cash, have a car i've always liked but have to settle for a 04 model, higher running costs not to mention fuel. Cars i sort of discounted based on manufacturers i'm not keen on - Ford / Citroen / vauxhall / VW / renault - Honda (New) Civic : Guy opposite has one, design when new was wow thats pretty nice but now its just the same old new honda civic, very odd and spacey. So i'm left thinking, do i go for diesel, shall i buy new (depreciation i hate that word) or just forget and enjoy, shall i consider another car or shall i just stick with my trusty run of the mill car that has never let me down and is stupidly cheap to run.
  • Warranty woes - I need legal advice! 16 Feb 2005 (Forum)
Today I had to call Motorcare Warranties and discovered that they have me listed as having a "Gold" plan warranty, not the "Gilt Edged" plan I paid for, which offers considerably less cover (and will not cover the £500 costs I've just been quoted by a Citroen dealer). I rang the garage that sold me the warranty and spoke to the Sales Manager who told me that:- 1) the salesman couldn't have sold me a "Gilt Edged" plan since it doesn't cover vehicles over 100k miles and runs for a minimum of a year (NEITHER of which are mentioned on the application form or in the Motorcare Warranties booklet they gave me) 2) the salesman couldn't have performed the upgrade if I didn't physically sign for the it (which is rubbish since it WAS upgraded, but only one step from "Silver" to "Gold") 3) the salesman who sold me the warranty has left the company can't be questioned 4) the relevant documentation is in storage for a company move so is unaccessible and will be for a period of time All the Sales Manager would offer me was a refund of the extra £50 I paid for the additional step from "Gold" to "Gilted Edge" cover, but obviously that's not what I want since it leaves me with a £500+ bill to pay!
  • A Braking Prayer 26 Mar 2003 (Forum)

I have owned a citroen zx1.9td aura k reg for 3 months now and i've been having terrible trouble with the brakes-I'm getting very bad pulsing through the brake pedal and a very funny sounding banging/knocking/juddering noise under hard braking.

  • Mazda CX-30 - Anything better than CX-30 in the same price rang? 29 Jun 2024 (Forum)
I think Mazda weakest points is electrical components. Not sure now, if the CX-30 still would be the best choice. I was planning to go and see Citroen C4, as supposed to be very comfy car. I didin't seen yet anythiing from VAG group like T-Cross or T-roc, they should have auto-hold as well.  What car would you recommend?
  • Peugeot 208 2015 1.2VTI - ESP/ASR fault, diagnostic shows C1638 & C1135- EPS 9 May 2023 (Forum)
The 'cure' still works. Tyre pressures and fluid levels are all bang on. There's an independent Pug/Citroen specialist near me, so I dropped it in there for diagnostics yesterday and they noted 2 stored codes: -C1638 (estimation of steering wheel angle- consistency) -C1135 (steering wheel angle sensor signal from s.w angle estimator or s.w controls- internal) They cleared these, recalibrated the angle sensor, & checked for wiring faults.
  • Daihatsu Fourtrak - MOT Corrosion Issues - Do I Contact VOSA? 3 Apr 2015 (Forum)
But I'd trusted that the recent MOT would be some assurance of soundness. Not so. I sought advice at my local independent MOT station, an independent Citroen garage, known for their high standards.  They suggested taking the car back to the testing station. This I did.  The chap I spoke to was generally hostile, despite my (hopefully) reasonable approach.
  • Very high mileage BMW's. 16 Nov 2013 (Forum)
I am no stranger to high mileage cars and have found them an excellent way of getting a newer car than would otherwise have been possible, or simply saving a pile of cash. My current Mondeo is now at 138k and is still excellent, and my first car, a Citroen Xantia, was traded in at 167k. Now, I had planned to buy a high mileage 5 Series anyway - again, to take advantage of the lower prices you get given they are undesireable. But I had planned on 90-120k.
  • Can I be a revolutionary? 9 Jul 2013 (Forum)
What we got was a huge steering wheel, dull reactions to steering and accelorator inputs and a fairly adequate ride at best.  I had hoped for a grown up sort of Citroen C1 and I got instead a cut down 1970s Mercedes. The BMW is very interesting.  I like the short precise throws of the gearlever (i know its auto!), the short arc for pulling up the handbrake and the small steering wheel.
  • European Breakdown Cover - A cautionary tale 28 Mar 2013 (Forum)
We pointed out that the policy clearly states that hired vehicles are covered provided that it is abroad with the hirer's permission. HOWEVER: Green Flag stated that if they recovered the truck the classic Citroen SM could not e recovered as that was not part of the cover. Again the policy wording EXPLICITLY states that recovery and repatriation includes the load provided the total wieght does not exceed 3500kgs, which it does not.
  • Back from Japan 19 Oct 2005 (Forum)
It was interesting to see Mercedes and Volvo making quite an impact on the Japanese market, and I also spotted a few Peugeot dealers! I also found myself behind a Citroen C3 on one of the motorways. Unexpected sightings included an old Xantia driving by Shinjuku station in Tokyo, and a *very* old and battered Volvo 240 estate in the Ginza shopping area! Another curious thing is that Japanese private cars are almost all coloured white, silver or black.

t fold in to floor leaving all the hassle that we have with the Galaxy seating arrangements still to live with. Peugeot 806 / Citroen C8. My wife LOVED the sliding doors, but again the seating arrangements are no advance whatsoever on the Galaxy. E.g. like the Galaxy you cannot even tip up one of the rearmost seats unless it is slid backwards first, and seat in front is slid forwards.
  • SEAT Altea (2004 - ) - Altea in Provence (Road Test) 8 Apr 2008 (Forum)
Does anyone have any idea what Europcar in France usually give out in this category? (Oh, and I did see a couple of Citroen C6's on the move - and the same number of DS's.)
  • I am a recovery service, I am 12 Feb 2008 (Forum)
I throw some tools, jack, axle-stands, coat hangers, gaffer tape and tow rope in the car and stick the amber beacon on the roof. There's the Citroen AX, hazards blinking, just north of the services, so I light up the beacon and my hazards and pull in behind him. Son is looking extremely forlorn as though it might be his fault. A paternal arm round the shoulder and some reassurance about all cars breaking down eventually is called for.
  • Car Design Clichés 8 Jun 2004 (Forum)
Car designers have a long tradition of following each other, but things seems to be getting worse. Once upon a time, some designers broke ranks, but now even Citroens look much like anything else: when a designer does something new, it seems to take only a few months for the others to follow. The result is that the roads are now full of design clichés, such as: 1.
