  • 1.1 Citroen Saxo desire 03 - Advice needed on whether or not to purchase Saxo 30 Jan 2021 (Forum)
ok so I'm currently looking into buying a cheap run around car and I've come across an 03 citroen saxo desire 1.1L for £325. The car looks in great shape and has been well looked after. The problem though is that it has no MOT and hasn't done since November 2020.
  • mondeo tdci 2.0 06 plate - Starter motor problem 27 Jan 2021 (Forum)
The car has 120,000 miles on it and has had quite a few jobs done on it over the years but is very reliable, runs nice and always starts first turn. Having said that mounting bills will mean I should probably should be thinking of sending it for scrap (shame as last MOT it passed no problem but wont this time!)

  • Volkswagen Passat Estate - '04 VW Passat Highline 1.9 TDi Auto Buying advice 26 Oct 2019 (Forum)
Hi, Going to check out a VW Passat estate later today, and just looking for some tips on what to look out for. It's got 213k miles on the clock, but speaking to the guy and he's been running it as a company car, so it's been serviced regularly and had all the important stuff done on it like recently had the cam belt done plus a load of other work that he's got proof for and says it's running really well.
  • Ford Fiesta 1.4 tdci - Injector problem - help! 5 Oct 2018 (Forum)
I have a Ford Fiesta mk6 1.4 tdci 2009 van that is running lumpy and recently went into limp mode. It sounds like it’s running on 3 cylinders. first I removed the air box to get access to the injectors. I then started the car to see if I could feel the injectors pulsing/buzzing.
  • KIA Ceed - Am I entitled to recompense for vehicle repair? 19 Jun 2018 (Forum)
Hi, I purchased a 2008 Kia ceed 5 months ago, and since purchase I have had to spend £800 to keep it running correctly. First job was the ABS light coming on, I took it to my local garage and they replaced the wheel bearing; ABS bits and something else as the wheel was totally knackered and rusted over inside.
  • mitsubishi shogun pinin 1.8 gdi - failed emissions 4 May 2018 (Forum)
Tried usual stuff, air filter, lambda sensor, new plugs but think theres a more fundamental problem. It runs perfectly well, idles smooth and mpg on the readout is 30+.  keep reading thoiugh that the GDI engine is prone to carbon build up. Looked in the throttle body which actually seems pretty clean. can see some build up lower down, maybe 4 or 5 mm build up. would this build up throughout the whole inlet manifold cause the emissions failure given that its running perfectly..
  • Vauxhall Zafira B - Vauxhall Zafira co2 emissions fail 1 Sep 2017 (Forum)
Any help would be greatly appreciated. (Also in terms of emmissions the MOT test centre said it shoots up to 2% then after running drops to 0.34% the fluctuates up and down continually.)
  • Skoda Citigo - Citigo Vs. 107 12 Aug 2017 (Forum)
For background I have a company car which is hammered at weekend so this choice really is for a run around - although we have two kids and a dog to transport too on occasions (v. small distances).
  • Hyundai Getz 1.1 year 2007 - Hyundai getz radiator fan not working 6 Jun 2017 (Forum)
With ignition on I've swapped the two 30A fuse links between fan and blower and its not that. I've bridged RAD1 and RAD 2 relays and the fan runs. I've disconnected the coolant temp switch and the fan runs.  Are there enough clues above for someone to offer some advise on how to proceed further as I desperately need this car on the road for my wife.
  • any - long term weekend car rental 2 Mar 2017 (Forum)
I am thinking around options to avoid buying a second car. Right now we have one car used by my wife for the school run and weekends. I commute to work by bike / public transport. Of late, there are several childrens' activities during the weekends, and they are now begining to overlap. So it would make things more convenient to have a second car on Saturdays.
  • bmw 320d 2008 - bmw 320d timing chain, why did it fail? 16 Feb 2017 (Forum)

  • Peugeot 206 SW - peugeot 206 1.4 hdi noisy and shaky engine 10 Apr 2016 (Forum)
i have a 2005 peugeot 206 1.4 hdi around 180.000 kms. recently, the engine started to run very noisy and extremely vibrating/shaking, some kind of rapid ticking sound comes out of it (from the timing belt side i guess?). it totally gives me headaches on long trips. i've diagnosed the car 3 times at bosch services and other services and the device showed no errors or malfunctions. the problem gets more severe after long running times and high revs. several mechanics told me various things like, it is okay nothing to worry with, injectors nozzles or valves may be corrupt, the timing belt system has to be replaced, gasket has to be replaced, eccentric shaft became unbalanced (really?)
  • Audi A3 2002 1.6 petrol misfire ? 24 Feb 2016 (Forum)
The only idea I have is a sticking valve. It can keep up at tickover, for the compression test, but not when the engine’s running…. A long shot, however, since the problem one of the tappets did tick for a few seconds when I started the engine one time. That hasn’t happened since I’ve owned the car, which is since 2012 and 100,000 miles ago.
  • 2004 1.6 Ford Focus Estate - 04 MK1 Focus - lumpy when pulling up 17 Feb 2016 (Forum)
Picked up my 04 Estate as a runabout whilst I took my Golf off the road last year. It's just about to hit 110k, runs fine, but I'm quite OCD regarding my cars running right.  I've noticed this problem appearing when pulling up to junctions or coming to a stop, there will be a judder, the revs will drop, it won't cut out...yet.
  • Fiesta Flame 1.4l 2004 - Ford Fiesta 2004 1.4l start issue 17 Dec 2015 (Forum)
Hello Having an issue with my 04 fiesta 1.4l Tried to start for work one morning and car will not idle, car will start and engine will run only if I hold down the accelerator, as soon as I release car stalls. If engine is revved enough to warm car will run 100% fine, but once cooled down same issue returns. No fault codes showing.
  • Any - Tough used petrol Estate options? 30 Oct 2015 (Forum)
2.5 years ago I bought a 58 reg  Octavia Estate 1.9 tdi with the intention of running to maybe 130 to 140K. Overall it's great, does the job perfectly, it's got  FSH,  oil change every 6K a year with me  and I look after it. But I'm starting to have a few doubts at 70K  which are niggling me.
  • Ford Focus - 05 1.6 petrol focus idle problem 9 Sep 2015 (Forum)
The problem I have is as soon as I start the car it idles at 1200 rpm and stays there until the car is up to running temp. As soon as it gets to running temp the revs jump between 1300 to 1400 rpm and the throttle pedal doesn’t work. So I have to turn the car off to get it to go again, but as soon as I stop at lights for more than a couple of seconds it starts revving itself up and down again and the throttle doesn’t work again.
