Nissan Micra - 14 day French road test 27 Oct 2005 (Forum)
Compared to Britain, one sees more older cars on the road. There are a fair number of Renault 4s and Citroen 2CVs on the go, and Peugeot 205s seemed to outnumber 206s. Ford Fiesta Mk IIIs definitely outnumbered the current model. Roads were remarkably quiet. One afternoon my wife and I walked down a scenic country road near Cahors in a touristy area for 4 km and were not passed by a single motor vehicle. -
Sub £3k Petrol Estate vs Petrol MPV 3 Mar 2024 (Forum)
Are Zafira's any good? Are bigger MPV's like the S-Max and Alhambra uneconomical as petrols? Are Peugeot or Citroen estates/MPV's worth a punt or are they danger territory in the £3k range? It was a minefield of a search when I had just one or two models to look at, now I'm extending it to dozens of potential vehicles I'm a bit overwhelmed. -
Which new car to buy? 2 Apr 2019 (Forum)
So far I have looked at and discarded; Ford ecosport (only 1.0 litre engine, subjectively looks too big) Peugeot 2008 (too cramped, couldn't get my legs comfortable) Suzuki Vitara (felt cramped with doors closed - also tried SX Cross but that was too big a car, only autos are higher spec and include privacy glass) Citroen C3 aircross - no auto box Mazda CX3 - felt cramped and very little room in the back Still in contention Hyundai ix20/Kia Venga - cons are seems like old technology/models and due to be discontinued in the next few weeks with no replacement as far as I can see. -
Salesmen - Why do they exist 7 Jan 2018 (Forum)
Requirements are pretty simple: turbo petrol with at least 125ps and 150 torques space for a folded wheelchair in the boot and a low lip to make loading it easy good internal space with a compact footprint no rubber band tyres and sports suspension Essential kit (or options) is: Dark rear glass spare wheel or at least an option to add cruise control aircon but preferably climate sat nav but android auto facility will do fine, it works in mine After a good deal of internet searching the Citroen C£ Aircross appeared to meet all the above so on a wet Friday afternoon went for a look at the Feel spec The petrol 130 has enough power and torque The car in the showroom had the battery disconected thus could not look in the boot. -

Need help in deciding a Crossover vehicle 15 Feb 2016 (Forum)
Nissan Qashqai / Renault Kadjar (1.5 engine might be under powered for my daily driving and the rear passenger space is very crammed) In general I like Symmetrical vehicles so I'm not considering vehicles like Ford Kuga, Skoda Yeti, Citroen C4 Cactus, Honda CR-V, BMW X1 which are a bit odd shaped. If I find a CX5 or Q3 which is 3 years old and done less than 50K miles and is below £15K, shall I go for it? -
Dilemma 31 Jan 2013 (Forum)
Hi Guys, Sorry - I have not posted on here for far too long, but was wondering what people's views may be on the dilemma I have below: I have a Citroen C5 2.2 HDI Exclusive - It's been a lovely car, I've done 110k miles in 3.5 years but I was getting close to swapping it, perhaps 3 months time. Anyway, I had a suspension fault flash up on the car display 2 weeks ago and the suspension sunk to minimum level - took it to a local indie who identified that the 40amp suspension fuse had blown - fitted me a new one and I thought that was sorted. -
Audi A3 - Advice on buying Automatics 28 Aug 2010 (Forum)
To summarise, my last two cars have been semi-automatic gearboxes (1st one a Renault Clio Quickshift, 2nd a Citroen C3 Sensodrive) and both have been spectacularly, almost outstandingly unreliable, almost killed me on several occasions and ended their sorry lives as part ex’s that went for peanuts. A close friend of ours is a mechanic and has told me in no uncertain terms, never to get another semi-auto again as long as I live. -
Motoring Journos? Do us any favours? 13 Jul 2007 (Forum)
Something that someone said on the Citroen C6 thread made me think - are journos doing us any favours by being over critical if a car is say comfort bias or value bias etc? Value for money seems to rarely come into it anymore and the expectation is that a car costing five grand should be compared to a ten grand car. -
Toyota Aygo 31 Oct 2006 (Forum)
She is going to look at a few other options, but for the budget an ex demo one of these seems to tick all the boxes. I'm comparing this with the Citroen and Pug alternatives, but they appear to be cheaper as the spec is different. My wife also prefers the look of the Toyota and the dealership experience was very good. -
Nissan Almera: manual or automatic? 4 Feb 2006 (Forum)
Thanks to lots of help from the backroom and from HJ's roadtests and FAQs, I have narrowed my choice down to a Nissan Almera 5-door at about 1-2 years old, or a Citroen Berlingo multispace of similar age (the Berlingo is much less likely, too many reports of minor problems). I'm sure there will be plenty of people who would recommend other vehicles, but I'm beyond that point. -
Cars you have adored despite problems 6 Dec 2005 (Forum)
I remember fondly the Citroen GSA I had when I was about 19. It was a milk chocolate brown colour and was quite startling to own because of its quirkiness. The radio was where the hand brake should be and the handbrake was like a spade handle that you pulled out of the dash. -
No History 21 Jul 2003 (Forum)
I may be about to sell a P reg Xantia 1.8LX 16v very soon but have absolutely no paperwork for it, except current MOT, V5 and receipt for recently replaced engine and genuine citroen bits eg cambelt, oil filter etc, which I bought. The car is in generally good order and I am hoping to secure around £1200 to £1400 for it. It has done 99K but the replacement engine has only done 18K. -
Brake problem. any thoughts wlecome.... 10 May 2003 (Forum)
Hi again. A question on brakes please. I acquired my third AX !!!(soon my front drive will turn into a Citroen memorabilia fair with bits of AX hanging everywhere). I got the said the car for 50 quid and its almost perfect. Done 70k, and the owner had to get rid of it as he bought a new car and the tax on this one had finished and he didn? -
Clocked or not 8 Oct 2001 (Forum)
Needing a cheap load carrier I spent the weekend on the trail of three nearly identical Citroen BX estates. The odd one out was a 60K mile 19RD diesel which probably shifted off the forecourt five minutes after the local paper hit the streets. That left me two white 1.9 petrol estates, both with trade sellers. -
[C]5 go on a trip........ 21 Mar 2002 (Forum)
I am not a Citroen hater, I refer to my experience with the Xantia and what I said about that. However............................ And then there was the C5?.. Rented one. Drove 1100 miles in 5 days. Hatchback HDI. -
Vauxhall Astra Hatchback 3-Door 1.9 CDTi Design - Buy A Vauxhall Astra 17 Jul 2013 (Forum)
Not naming names who the dealership is but on their website it states :One of the Midlands largest independently owned, family run car Dealer Groups. And they sell Nissan, Renault, Dacia, Peugeot, Suzuki, Alfa Romeo, Fiat and Citroen . Oh yes I forgot to say the original sales man said he could knock off £500 from the £6,995 if I wanted the car even though It was not part of his stock .... -
Stupid driving 8 Jan 2009 (Forum)
The speed differential was only marginal. As he passed, a chap in a C5 estate, a beardy librarian sort of lookalike, the Citroen driver flipped. Fortunately and mainly due to the potential for ice I had left a very decent gap of maybe 200 yards. The C5 shot out of lane 3 into lane 2 just as I was drawing near and judging by the plume of diesel smoke absolutely floored it. -
Japanese versus the rest. 21 Feb 2003 (Forum)
Everyone knows that they have an excellent reliability record, that they were renowned for copying other peoples designs and principles and making bland but efficient clones and were criticised for lacking that special quality that made the Italians and French special. (Apparently). So why don't the owners of Pug, Citroen and Vauxhall all drive Toyotas, Mazdas and Nissans? (Note I said owners rather than drivers - if your company is paying the bill I can quite see that you'll choose the one *you* want to drive rather than worry about the bills). -
Citroen Xantia 1.9 TD (Bosch pump) - Simple glow plug change gone wrong! Wont idle now! 11 Feb 2014 (Forum)
Hi all, (skip to the end for a summary) I have done a bit of searching and I am waiting for activation of my account on French Car Forum...
