Speed cameras are highly visible 21 Oct 2008 (Forum)
Why do so many people get caught by speed cameras? After all, they're qute visible in their yellow colour and there are usually advance warnings. When I got caught exceeding 60 it was by a police officer in a car hidden in a side road and he timed me (with a clock on the dash) between two roadside trees. -
New cameras 27 Mar 2008 (Forum)
Did a quick search and couldn't find anything, so... I've noticed some new cameras at the eastern end of the M40 where it becomes the A40. Mounted in pairs like the average speed ones you see on M-way etc roadworks, and on yellow gantries with what looks like the Motorola logo. -
Speeding (mostly excl cameras) Vol 41 25 Mar 2006 (Forum)
Is it the case that if they have such a hazy recollection of the simplest parts of the Highway Code that their recollection of the more complicated parts is similarly hazy? What can or should be done about it? Is it sufficient that they will eventually be caught by a camera at a point where they thought they were doing the right speed limit, and they will buy themselves a copy of the HC? -
N/A - Red light Camera - Byker Bridge 24 Oct 2018 (Forum)
I’ve only been driving since March this year and last night managed to run a red light on Byker Bridge in Newcastle last night..which has a red light camera on (yellow camera & confirmed this with a quick google search). I hold my hands up that I run the light, I was paying too much attention to the double decker bus on my left which kept creeping over to my side of the road and unfortunately it obscured my view of the upcoming traffic lights until it was too late and through the light I went. -
Volkswagen Golf IV - SPEEDING, CAMERA FLASH BUT NO POINTS.. LUCKY!! 22 Sep 2010 (Forum)
Driving in essex on 18th September 2010 at approx 10.30pm, from a friends house to a ngiht out. Had an undercover bmw police car behind me did not notice. I went past a speed camera (30mph) on my side of the road, and then sped off very quickly doing about 55-60mph in a 30mph zone and set off the speed camera on the otherside. The undercover cop chased up and pulled me to the side. -
SpeedSpike Camera`s - you know it makes sense. 21 Apr 2010 (Forum)
It looks like there will shortly be another step forwards in road safety - as these safety cameras are deployed nationally. http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/f86/high-tech-speed-cameras-use-satellites-110887/ Just as saturation deployment of Gatso`s in our cities stopped the crazy overtakers and tailgaters in our 30mph zones - the SpeedSpike will do the same on `race-track` country roads. -
Average speed cameras and the teflon chancer 24 Mar 2009 (Forum)
Let`s hear it for average speed cameras then - fair dispensation of points to all, with lady luck removed to where she belongs - the national lottery. (Incidentally, I`m using the Eee PC - Opera, with no spellcheck almost exclusively now- so apologies for future errors) -

N/A - Old chestnut again - which camera warning system. 30 Apr 2014 (Forum)
Ok- just about every gps on the market offers some sort of speed camera warning. BTW this is not an advert, I am trying to find out if anybody uses this system, if is it reliable and/or effective, particularly to warn of mobile speed cameras. http://www.coyotesystems.co.uk/en/faq-1/getting-the-best-from-coyote It seems to originate from France, which is where I live. -
Nominate a road that NEEDS a speed camera. 6 Aug 2009 (Forum)
OK, I know it's controvesial but some roads do need speed cameras to stop very high-speed antics. So, even if you think there are too may speed cameras generally, can you think of a road that would benefit from having a camera? My nomination is the A361 Frome by-pass, which is a single carriageway with a long straight. -
Ireland, speed cameras and Nissans 8 Oct 2008 (Forum)
On the A616 just off the M1 huge gantries have been suspended over the road to hold cameras which monitor average speed. Outside Holmfirth the number of the road is painted on the white lines for the speed cameras so you'll know where you were when you got done. Relaxed? Fun? Enjoyable? -

Audi A1 - Retrofit parking sensors and camera 2 Feb 2020 (Forum)
I’ll Admit I’m clueless with cars so I could be told any price and if I can afford it I’d pay it. I have been quoted £499 for a reverse camera and £300 for parking sensors on my Audi a1 sport. One of my brothers who is really in to cars said that’s too expensive and the other one who Knows nothing but has nice cars said “it’s good that” Does anyone have an idea what I should be being quoted for this? -
Traffic Light Cameras 23 Aug 2012 (Forum)
Hi, I'm pretty sure I got zapped tonight by a traffic light camera. It was one of those split second decisions as to whether to brake firmly or to carry on. On this occasion, I obviously made the wrong decision. I wasn't over the speed limit, btw, and I had already slowed down in anticipation of lights, but at the time it just seemed more sensible to go through rather than stop. -
Average Speed Cameras 7 Nov 2011 (Forum)
I have been driving through specs controlled road works on the M1 M25 etc for a couple of years now and as I travel at 50 by my satnav; I am constantly passed by cars lorries vans and bikes who all seem to be unconcerned about these camera. Do they actually work? has anyone been done using them as evidence? Another worrying development is the habit of HGV;s to travel in the middle lane of these road works, often undertaking traffic in the third lane. -
flashing white lights on buses 20 Dec 2006 (Forum)
I was following a bus this morning, and there was an irregular bright white flash from a pair of lamps mounted adjacent to the rear lamp cluster. The almost looked like camera flash, but not particularly intense. It occurred to me to wonder if the car in front (and no, it wasn't me!!!) was getting close enough to trigger some form of rear facing camera - but that sounds rather improbable, and I don't think the flash was bright enough to act as a camera flash. -
Tailgating cameras 3 Nov 2006 (Forum)
If such a thing happened, would you be pro or anti, and would that be the same as your view on Those Other Cameras? I think I'd be pro. -
Fog helps speeding drivers 25 Nov 2005 (Forum)
BBC news website today: Meanwhile, the thick fog which has accompanied wintry conditions in some areas has prevented drivers on the M6 in Cumbria from being caught by speed cameras. The county's safety camera partnership has reported that more than 150 vehicles were caught travelling at 70mph on Tuesday night in a section of contraflow near Tebay, where the temporary limit is 50mph.
