• BMW service - no interim service needed? 27 May 2021 (Forum)
  I went to a BMW dealer and tried a used car. Its computer shows it was last serviced over 18 months ago. I was also told that there is no need for an ordinary interim or full service like before, but only to follow the instructions given by the computer on what parts need to be replaced and checked.

  So iv only had a fiat punto  and a clio both petrol 1.2 but just brought a 2010 BMW 118d I'm a confident driver as expected found the new car very different is 2000 revs doing say 30-35mph in second straining the car or is third too high? Do I need higher revs any advice appreciated also is very different to me as rear wheel drive thanks

  Hi all, i am in Oman and want to bring back to the UK a BMW motorbike which is ex police and registered to me. however it has been de registered by the government as was not tested and taxed for a couple of years. I have the paperwork in my name, if i return to the uk with the bike can i have it tested and apply for an age related number plate, or would if no this be on a Q plate, or is it just not possible?

  I recently swapped my F10 for a new Outback and was delighted with the comfort and quality of the F10. My niggle is that BMW have now adopted the same approach to car design as Audi and MB. Design one model and then put the drawings in the photocopier and scale up or down to create the next new model. Is ere anyone that spends time differentiating their models now days ?

  My beloved BMW 530D has been written off following a minor shunt set off the airbag. But what a remarkably strong car it was with no hint of a stiff neck or damage to the occupants. I have checked the value of similar cars on Autotrader and was surprised to find 2003 models with 130k fetching £3500 average.

  I'm looking at getting a new car and have narrowed it down to either an Audi A3 1.9 TDI (2009) or BMW 1 Series 118D (2010) with about 50,000 miles on a budget of around £9 to £10K.  I like the look of both and will be test driving them tomorrow but can anyone offer advice on the difference in maintenance costs and reliability.. are they much the same or do they differ a lot?

  I would be interested in getting views about whether there is a safety issue, either directly or indirectly, when all four wheels needed significant adjustment. BMW dealership had the car in for inspection on two occasions found nothing wrong. Independant tyre specialist analysis identified problem and adjusted accordingly. Dealer is adamant that there was no "safety issue" .

  Another improbable story. A colleague followed her husband home the other day and noticed sparking from the BMWs run flat tyres. Husband was doubtful at the tale but  swapped cars around and saw it for himself. A 'garage' could not see any problems. At work we debated whether the carcase wires were protruding (easy to spot surely) or if flinty stones were lodged in the tread.

  My 7 year old car was MOTd in March 2011 and passed for 12 months. Last week I suffered brake failure due to corroded brake pipes. BMW have replaced the pipes at a cost of £1000. How can brake pipes become unserviceable within 3 months?.....or has the MOT been carried out by someone who is incompetent.?. Should I report the MOT station to VOSA?.

  Hello, Can anyone advise everytime my bmw goes over a bump i can hear a metalic rattle coming from the front sounds like your going over a tin can. Ive had the heat sheilds and cat checked its not them and my suspension is fine as ive had that checked.

  Hi We have a 3 -series BMW engine (I think it is an E20). It refuses to start. We can hear it is firing on all but one cylinder. The petrol is going through the system. Can anyone pin point what I should test on this vehicle Also, where can I obtain more information about this engine on the net?

  I'm heading to a bmw auction in Bridgwater next week by BCA and the cars up for sale are amazing. I received the list via email and they are all fairly used cars with low mileages, log books, and all that stuff. I want to buy a 1 series and the options are 116i, 118d, 118i and 120d Does anyone know what price these usually start at and sell for at auctions???

  They visited the nearest K-F centre who found no fault with any wheel (thereby claiming to have saved them loads o'money). I checked all 4 tyres when they returned here - 37psi all round. What sensing system does BMW use, and what event might have triggered the false warning?

  Hi Can any one help. i have a bmw 316i and the heater has stopped working . well it works now and again but mostly not at all now. i have to top up the rad every couple of days with a small amount of water. there is no leaks and the hg was done about 5 months ago and there is no water getting into the engine or visa versa. has anyone any ideas what it could be. thanks

  I need to change the gearbox oil on a 1997 bmw 318 tds(m41 engine) According to the owners manual the specified oil is denoted by a sticker on the gear box casing...but mine appears to be missing. Would appreciate any info on the recommended oil for this model as most main dealers I have contacted all seem a bit vague on the matter.

  I've managed to lose the little adaptor that fits into the locking nut on my 51 plate 330i Sport - I've been trying to Google a solution and seem to hear a lot about a Gaitor Grip and also a Laser 3192. Would either of these be able to remove the bolts from the BMW alloy? Repeated vehicle details chopped from subject line

  The car was recovered to a local gearbox centre who after tests and a strip down advised I needed a replacement (recon) auto box. Cost £2000. I'm now advised that BMW might have replaced the box free?? or at least made a contribution as it should not have failed?? Is this true?
