  • Mazda 626 (1997 - 1999) - 98 2.0 Failed MOT, testing sensors 15 Aug 2009 (Forum)
This is different from Haynes or Chilton manual (2.5kOhm falling to 300Ohm), but I have another brand new sensor bought for this car and it measures the same as the one in the car, so I assume error in manuals., or change in sensors for 1998+ and not covered in manuals. Also when I disconnect this connector, the rad ventilator starts almost immediately (it probably reads this as overheating) when I connect back the ventilation stops.
  • Happy memories of motoring Bank Holidays 25 May 2009 (Forum)
It`s 1955 and the crack troops that defeated Rommel in the western desert are again heading towards the coast - radiators boiling in old pre war cars, some with mastic oozing from cracked cast iron water jackets.. Kindly click the utube link below and let the music run in the background as you visualize the steady clop clop of these side valve metal donkeys creeping slowly in long lines towards the coast. http://tinyurl.com/28fwrj Kids peered into other cars as risky overtaking was the order of the day.
  • Rover - 99 "L" series vacuum pump hose failure 12 Jan 2009 (Forum)
In my case one of the clips was not in the correct place and over the course of 9 years the plastic hose "breathed off" and out of the neoprene tube connector ( the plastic hose should be approx 1" inside the neoprene connecting hose) with the result that during the recent cold weather the hose finally popped out and the return oil escaped into the acoustic pan below, rapidly draining the sump at a rate of 1 litre per 15 minutes operation. The connector can be inspected with a torch by looking in from the drivers side of the car, the connector sits directly below the alternator but above the air con pump. To fix you will need to remove the engine cover, disconnect a sensor plug and earth connection, move the wiring loom out of the way, swinging the alternator on its lower holding bolts towards the front of the car.
  • How to respond to 999 vehicles 17 Oct 2005 (Forum)
The vast majority of people do the right thing and get out of the way as soon as they spot us, even if that means flooring it past a vehicle inside. If your car is not powerful enough to do this then don't brake, put on your indicator and wait until you're past the inside car - hopefully they'll brake and make room for you. Stay safe Ronnie
  • Banger(ish) shopping in Ayrshire 9 Aug 2025 (Forum)
The first Astra, a 2015 car in red with 88,000 miles up for £3495 looked ok, but the front tow hook cover had been torn off when it’s obviously been towed in after breaking down… doesn’t half put you off. The next one was the one he bought.
  • Suzuki Vitara - Should have followed my own advice 17 Sep 2024 (Forum)
If that were to happen I am then confident (from the staining and slow rate of loss) that’s it’s been leaking for months so the supplying dealer should cover it if Suzuki won’t. Hence I need to stick with them for now. The car is drivable albeit I need to keep checking the coolant so I just need to suck up the delay. It would have been a lot easier if they’d been local.
  • Has the dealer breached the law and what can I do? 3 Apr 2024 (Forum)
Hi I’m new to here. I recently purchased a used car and have encountered some issues. I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could shed some light on them. I purchased the car from a dealer. The front parking sensors make noise when they shouldn't, and sometimes don't work when they should.
  • Ford Focus ST - Stalling Issue 6 Oct 2014 (Forum)
I looked at Honest John car reviews that said there was a problem with this model stalling. I did a search on internet and found pages of complaining owners with the same problem. So I booked my car in with a dealership under warranty.
  • Touring Norway by car + Norway campaign April 1940 9 Aug 2008 (Forum)
The armoured car came under fire and retreated back around the bend, confined to the single road much as a train is to the track, in the snow covered mountainous terrain. The army of the Reich outflanked British positions and a fierce fire fight took place with machine guns in Kvam church yard.
  • Child Leaning Out of Window! 19 Jul 2007 (Forum)
She was driving so close over the line in the middle of the road, the little girl then leaned backwards with one hand and a car coming the other way swerved and ended up going up the curb scared she was going to hit the little girl. I thought enough is enough so I followed her to the end of the road and when we got to the junction I quickly got out the car and tapped on her window..
  • Can You Help Settle A Dispute? 26 Feb 2003 (Forum)
I again requested the garage covered the full cost – Response – With a 4/5 year old second hand car you must expect some things may be missing. My response was…………… absolute nonsense - scratches, dents, squeaks, wear and tear yes, a missing spare key…………no way.
  • Seat Altea XL - first impressions 21 Jul 2007 (Forum)
Having had the car now for a few days, this is my first impressions. As my last car was a Scenic, this is the car I am comparing it to which may be the same for any potential buyers. Got the car, brand new, with a saving of roughly £2500 off list price.
  • Renault kadjar - Turbo failure on low mileage car Consumer rights? 16 Sep 2023 (Forum)
So I attached a polite well written letter attached to an email pointing out my distress and disbelief of a low mileage car that I had paid a lot for which purposely went for a low mileage car  so that I'd not have to spend more money with faults. Mentioning that I have concerns now with what caused the turbo to fail and that they should last the life time of the engine if the car was driven correctly and maintained.
  • Octavia Estate - Stick with petrol/diesel or change to hybrid? 26 Oct 2018 (Forum)
Would appreciate some help/advice on my intended next buy. I'll just start by saying that I am not mechanically, nor technically, minded in the car department; as long as it gets me from A to B in one piece, economically, then its OK for me. I am not into too many gadgets, in car entertainment/satnav's etc are wasted on me although the latest car, and van, have cruise control, and stop/start.
  • Ford Focus Estate - My dreadful experience with an Rac car dealer 1 Oct 2018 (Forum)
To cut a very long story short after another 5 to 6 weeks I was told by the rac that there team of experts didnt believe was caused by the clutch and more evidence was needed . I got the car fixed and as there was oil contamited inside the clutch I had that changed and treatment into the gearbox (as I coudnt afford a new gearbox as wel as a clutch ) Although doubting this would be covered in the warranty as the problem existed when I bought the car the garage then applied for this and had it turned down by the rac.

  • bmw x3 (09) SE Auto - problems with a secondhand / used car i have just 6 Sep 2013 (Forum)
i bought a car from a dealer located in Edlesborough, and i paid in full 10 days ago. when the car got delivered on last tuesday, i found that there are a few things i wasn't expecting at all. 1. there is a dent in the rear bumper. my guess is that it was caused because of reversing towards a pole or something like a pole.

If you are planning to use the existing multi-storey car park, you should follow signs as you approach for either the Terminal Car Park 1 or the Multi-Storey Car Park.   The new multi-storey car park will be named Terminal Car Park 2.
  • Skoda Yeti - My third Yeti 22 Sep 2015 (Forum)
I have a theory that 4x4’s may well offer better residuals, compared with 2WD’s, although I’ll not know for certain until “trade in time”. I actually prefer the styling of the pre-face lift car and feel the FL car has lost a little of it’s unique charm. I’ve covered 1100 miles since collecting the car just over a week ago. I expected lower fuel economy with the 4WD drive train (based on previous experience with both Mk I and Mk II Octavia 4x4’s).
  • Honda CR-V III (2007 - ) - 6 inch Mark on new CRV passenger airbag 8 Apr 2009 (Forum)
Now I am aware of it of course I am constantly looking at it. I only had the car delivered last Thursday, have only been out in 4 times and haven't even put anything in the glove box yet let alone gone near the passenger side of the car. I have not rang the dealer yet who I bought it from and don't relish a 160 odd mile journey to get there and a 160 mile journey back.
