  We have just had a tow bar fitted via a reputable trailer centre on our Ford Smax. Since then we are having problems with our central locking not working when parked on our drive, strangely it works when we drive away from the house!

  Hi, I'm doing alot of motorway towing tomorrow with a Fiat Ducato van (2.8D) and I've just noticed a very slight pin head area of dampness on one of the radiator channels - enough I'm guessing to give that very subtle "hot water smell" that you smell when walking round the vehicle.

  However I'm currently trying to work out the best way to export it to Luxembourg. The problem I've got is getting it there. The tow car is Lux registered, so when I speaking to the insurance company about towing with it they start asking me for the plate number of the trailer, which i don't have as the trailer isn't registered in Lux.

  My mother wants to sell two motors 1. 95' Golf 1.9 diesel (not turbo) 2. 96' Daihatsu Fourtrak 2.8tdi swb commercial and buy one motor to do both jobs ie carry 5 or 6 people tow 3.5 tonne farm trailer occasionally Reliability and Running Costs are the most important factors My initial thoughts are Dahatsu Fourtrak car Landrover 90 Station Wagen my mother fancies a jeep 2.5td but it may struggle to tow 3-3.5 tonnes.

  I have never seen fog light repeaters on a trailer, caravan or temporary light board. Is this correct? Is this not a safety issue for towing in bad weather?

  I would probably be looking at the 2.5 low pressure turbo petrol or a diesel engine, as I imagine they will tow the best, and the turbo-petrol seem quite available What is the mpg of the 2.4 LPT petrol engine like when coupled with autobox (Horrific ?) - has anyone towed anything with this set-up and can comment on how it coped ?

  The same thing occured again while towing a caravan,this time it happened three times in a few miles. I got home without anymore problem by keeping down to 50mph or good fortune. Never had this problem while driving without the caravan.

  Now i had the re-tune done on the 11 aug 2014 and WOW that's all i can say my mpg has gone up as promised currently getting 5-8mpg MORE!!!! plus when overtaking its effortless the power is right there even towing my caravan is a pleasure as the added torque makes me forget I am even towing I would recommend this to anyone just wish i had found out about this 2 years ago as I would have saved around £1200 in fuel costs.

    Without any warning could not change gear when driving, dealers said there was no lining on the clutch and asked what I towed - I said nothing but a wheelie bin. New clutch fitted and after 4 weeks, this went with no warning.  2 clutches in 4 months and 3000 miles! All suburu UK said was " excessive towing"  while the dealer asked if I drove with my foot on the clutch.

  Starting problem only seems to happen the next morning - after i have refuelled. Last time it happened got a friend to tow me and it started after being towed about half a mile, then worked fine for a few weeks. Checked fuel into injector rail on cranking and nothing being pumped. Any suggestions appreciated. Billy

  Ladies and Gents, My 1995 Golf 1.8GL, decided to cut out the other day when I was driving through a set of roadworks and I had to get a tow to a local garage. Whilst I was waiting for the tow truck, I took off one of the HT leads and held it close to the engine to see if I had a spark whilst my wife tried the ignition. There was no spark.
