  I currently drive a 2007 Citroen C5 Exclusive with Xenon headlamps (the self levelling ones that look round corners when you turn the steering wheel). Im going to France in the Summer and was wondering what happens about converting the lamps to allow driving on the right. The beams are not flat and currently have a very sharp kick up to the nearside. Masking is i guess out of the question.

  A friend of mine is relocating from France back to the UK. He'll be getting a nice shiny new LR Discovery as a company car back in England. Problem is: how does he get shot of his 3yr-old left-hand drive French-registered Vectra GSi? It's worth more in France, but he hasn't got the time or patience or language-skills to try to sell it privately before he leaves France.

  Talk about Rip off Britain Just looked up the cost of the cambelt and water pump change for my 130 TDI passat in France. Total cost = ?877 (including TTC(VAT)) at the local VW dealer in the Charente!! Checked with Gilbert Lawton in Manchester, they quoted £395 plus £30 for the water pump including VAT. No prizes for guessing where it will get done!

  Just got back from Easter weekend in France. Motorways empty, towns and villages virtually empty......Pont de Normandy looking fantastic in the mist. Omaha Beach landings, Pegasus Bridge, Pointe du Hoc, Colville American cemetary, Longues sur Mer gun battery, Ste Maire Eglise....all approachable, easy parking.

  I've just got back from a couple of weeks working on reducing the Wine Lake. Anyone going to France from 30 October (I assume that's when the clocks go back) should be aware that for an experimental 6 month period they will be insisting you drive on dipped headlights at all times. Motorcyclists are not amused as this will make them less obvious but they look like going the way of the Nordic countries after an experiment in Les Landes prooved encouraging.
