  5th gear has an interesting crash test tonight, surprised if it's type hasn't been done before? A Volvo 940 and a Renault Modus in an offset frontal crash at 40mph. My money's on the Volvo physically holding up well but something nasty in the cabin harming the driver. Not sure that offset tests were really in when the 940 was designed so perhaps the test criteria is different?

  Hi A friend is looking at buying a used 2/3 year S60 2.4 T auto or estate equivalent (S 80). Does any body have any idea as to how relaible the volvo S60 is, what major components fail past 100k. How economical is the 2.4 turbo, and how much does a major/minor service cost. Does this car keep its value? Are modern volvo\'s as durable as those made in the 1980\'s such as the 740 and 240 model range.

  I want to convert the headlamp dip from right to left hand drive on my car to register it in France and noticed that Volvo XC70 appears on the list of cars that have switchable lights. I cannot see where they adjust and wondered if this facility was removed for the 2007 model. Can anyone throw some light on this please - pun unintended!

  My low mileage 96 Volvo 850 GLT 2.5 estate (10v) has I found out a very poor heater. The temperature guage seldom moves from the bottom and into the bottom quarter - even after a longish run. Is it a thermostat problem? thanks
• Volvo V40 bonnet release cable snapped 5 May 2006 (Forum)
  The bonnet release on my Volvo V40 (1998 1.8 GDi) was loose this morning. I tried pulling the wire with pliers and pulled about 10 inches of wire out. The cable has either snapped or the end come out at the bonnet catch. Does anyone know a way to release the bonnet without smashing the grill?

  dear Honestjohn, I own a G-plate Volvo 340 1.4 with 112000 miles on the clock. The engine seems generally sound but has recently started cutting out on decellerating: approaching junctions etc. This is worst after periods at high RPM.
