• MINI Cooper and Cooper S - mini cooper camshaft sensor failed 21 May 2013 (Forum)
  had a camshaft sensor fitted 10 months ago which has now failed. there is  a 2 year warranty on part. bmw mini refuse to replace the part as they say there is rust on camshaft causing the failure. car is owned by wife and she drives 3000miles a year which they say has caused the rust due to not enough use.

  Recently aquired  '03 plate Mini Cooper with cooling issues. Previous owner (family member) kept topping up with water..............:( I have replaced the radiator via the manual but noticed the new coolant stayed in the resevoir.

  My ex wife's Mini is stuttering a bit on decelleration, the very same symptoms that my van had (albeit a diesel van) when the egr valve was sooted up. I have read conflicting reports as to whether this car even has an egr valve!

  Being rather sceptical of snake oil and fuel additives I was pleasantly suprised to find that my wifes Mini sailed through this years MOT after dosing it with a bottle of cataclean. Last year it was borderline on the emissions and after several tests got a pass result of 0.17. This year it went through the test at 0.03 which looks like a significant improvement to me!

  I only found out today that Alec Issigonis had designed a gear less mini. I was wondering if this was a forerunner to CVT automatics ? Anyone know how it works ? Must have been economical. I could be wrong though Google has plenty of pictures of the car but no details at all.

  Our 2005 MINI Cooper S has developed a strange knocking noise. It happens when you touch the accelerator pedal or ease off in a low gear. There is just one 'knock' noise, almost as if something is rolling around in the boot (which it isn't!!).

  Recently, in my hometown of Cheltenham, we`ve been bombarded with those blasted mini-roundabouts that I believe serve no purpose but to disrupt the vital and natural flow of traffic. They are simply plonked in places hardly big enough to swing a cat to make out they`re `doing something for road safety` when in fact the constant stop-start of motors in suburban areas is more likely, in my opinion, to be a hazard to other road users and pedestrians.

  Apparently they can't be plugged if you get a nail in one - said nail has not been removed and tyre is still inflated, no tyre monitoring warning so inflation...

  While the condition based usage adopted by Mini & BMW can be useful if you are a low mileage driver, there is a massive flaw in the system.  Last year we bought a 'new', unregistered F55 Cooper S, reg in June. Today, the oil change warning appeared on the Mini app.

  I have Cat D1 on my licence which entitles me to drive a mini bus. I do this at the moment, and it is a 15 seater. These are under "grandfathers" rights as I got my licence before the new regulations. I am a bit confused. I just want to drive a 9 seat mini bus for hire and reward.

  We went to see the new MINI Countryman at a 'launch' event at local dealers yesterday. This was with a view to replacing my wife's car. I have to say I was initially quite shocked to see how big the car is in the flesh - it's a lot bigger and beefier than the other MINI models.

  The trouble is I gave away my Haynes manual with the last Mini I sold so dont know what the bracket is supposed to look like so I could maybe weld a new one on and also dont know what is involved in removing the clutch fluid reservoir. All help VERY gratefully received, as ever!!!
