"Some mail order company" - be warned 3 Mar 2005 (Forum)
I ordered a battery conditioner and a car cover from deleted in early December. I heard nothing and in January I tried to contact them by email and phone. No response to email or phone messages. So I sent an email cancelling the order. -

Omega Sat-Nav 13 Oct 2004 (Forum)
Sometimes the disc will start spinning (hear the noise) and sometimes the screen will light up, then turn itself off again. The problem is, the switch doesn't seem to work anymore, and with it coming on and off, the battery has gone flat a few times when left for a few days. I've ordered a new switch for it. But just wondered if it could be anything else? It's a Philips Car-In system. Screen next to radio (built in), and CD-Player located on-top of the transmission tunnel in the rear. -
Golf GTi Mk2,ignition problem! 22 Aug 2004 (Forum)
I have a 1990 8v GTi and there's an intermittent fault with the ignition.Every so often when you try to start the car there will be no power getting to the coil,if you feed a live straight from the battery to the coil the car starts up fine then after running for brief period you remove the wire and the car works fine for a while, then without warning, you come to start it again another time and it just sits there turning over but no life at the coil again. -
Starting cycle. 3 Aug 2004 (Forum)
It is reluctant to start from restart and cuts off on first attempt in 60% of cases. What could this be? The battery is fine, the leads are fine, the air filter is new and the oil is fresh. The mileage is only 21,000 miles and the bike is 2 years old. Also, how many miles should I expect this engine to last me with regular oil changes and frequent servicing. -
AC - Distilled/Demineralised water 5 Oct 2003 (Forum)
Hello Folks, A recent premature failure of a radiator on my Citroen XM (3 yrs 35K) prompts me to consider using strictly only demineralised/distilled water for both replacement and top-up. Does anyone know of a decent bulk source? I really do not want to buy bijou litre "battery top-up" bottles from Halfords at £££. My Dad used to collect it in 40gal plastic drums from Castle Donington Power Station for BAC 1-11 aircraft operating out of EMA. A water-methanol mix boosted take-off power. -
Intermittent Peugeot Start Failure 11 Sep 2003 (Forum)
When this happens I can sometimes "fluke" a start by holding the key in the ignition position and flicking the gear selector between Drive and Neutral and the starter might catch. If that fails after a few tries the car won't start until stone cold beyond this point. The battery seems fine. Anybody else had a similar problem ? Any ideas anyway ? -
1988 Golf GT won't start 24 Jul 2003 (Forum)
I recently borrowed a 88 Audi 90 Quattro for about 3 weeks so I didn't drive my Golf. ;DI went to start it yesterday and it wouldn't turn over. Come to find my battery was completely dead. Tried jumping w/out luck. It will barely turn over and then all electrical (lights, clock, etc.)will die. Like it's taking a huge drain to jump my car. I then have to turn the key to off position and then will be able to make it crank over once. -
Rover 220sdi air in fuel system 6 Jun 2003 (Forum)
I've recently been having problems starting my car which I believe to be due to air getting into the fuel system. The AA man who came out after I'd worn the battery down trying to start it remarked that there was no fuel in the filter and so he had to prime it. On priming it myself I notice that as soon as I stop pressing the priming bulb I see air being drawn back into the filter (at the outlet the other side of the bulb). -
Rascal disabled buggy 4 Dec 2002 (Forum)
Elderly lady has had one of these four wheel electric buggies for 9 years with no problems except for one puncture and a new pair of batteries about 6 months ago. Machine has a pivoted lever on the handlebar for stop/go, fwd/rev and a dial from 0 to 10 to set speed. Recently, releasing the handlebar lever to slow to a stop, has been replaced by releasing the lever resulting in violent deceleration. -
Help! unwanted illumination 28 Nov 2002 (Forum)
I have removed fuse for indicators and for hazards, and disconnected relay (attached to back of hazards switch) and they STILL stay on. Finally turned them off by disconnecting the battery! Is it anything to do with the alarm? Wife left no 2 son in car, locked it, then unlocked it realising he was still in. Car 'autolocked' again, 'cos she didn't open a door after unlocking it (in case you unlock it accidentally) which presumably armed the alarm. -
Small autoroute cruiser 29 Oct 2002 (Forum)
The long journeys call for excellent autoroute cruising--10 hour days behind the wheel, need good seats ,economy ,reasonable speed, reliability. The local runs call for little more than a gutsy battery. How small can I go ,car wise , before I`m in silly territory. A Smart would be silly So would a Yaris I suspect. Any views on a C3 ? A Ka ? Fiesta ? A 206 ? A polo ? Any help from personal experience would be much appreciated. -
VW Polo is the new Morris Minor 18 Apr 2002 (Forum)
I just dragged a 19 year old Polo out of a garden where it had been sitting for 18 months. It was free... Checked the fluid levels, put a new battery on it and it fired up on the third attempt and ran sweetly. Tried the electrics - everything works! It needs a couple of tyres and a rear light unit, and the brakes are even worse than normal for a Polo, but the body is rock solid and rust free apart from a small hole at the end of one sill, where it has clouted something and taken the paint off. -
Electrical problem 26 Nov 2001 (Forum)
C-L is factory-fitted but linked to an original-fit Peugeot remote alarm which is no longer operative and is switched out. Battery connections have been checked. Cannot identify any obvious culprit wher the sound seems to come from (near ECU?) Any ideas anyone ? -
BMW 2 Series Active Tourer - A weekend test drive in a BMW 225xe plug-in hybrid 22 Jan 2017 (Forum)
This got me from my house to the M60 motorway (10 miles) without engaging the petrol engine at all, and without trying to run economically on the various minor roads and 40mph limits. This took the battery from 97% to about 20% charge. On the motorway, the petrol engine gradually recharges the battery so that after an hour at typical motorway speeds, the battery was above 50% charge again. Overall, I did 285 miles, of which 220 was a long motorway run at a steady cruise-controlled 80. -
Nissan Leaf - Refusal of Short Term Right to Reject 16 Mar 2022 (Forum)
I booked it into a Nissan garage to have it looked at and received a report back that stated the front anti-roll bar bushes needed replacing and both o/s and n/s would need to be done, on top of that they also stated that the 12v battery was only at 50% capacity and there was an outstanding recall on the car. After gaining some further advice from CAB I was told that I had a short term right to reject, within 30 days under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. -
Audi Dealer woes, advice would be nice 4 May 2004 (Forum)
In any case, this happened during the week and I thought I would take the car into {deleted} over the weekend to look at the problem. Unfortunately, the battery had run flat come the weekend, so I got roadside assistance to charge me up. They were pretty good, the mechanic looked at the car but could not tell anything as the cars memmory was cleared when the battery went flat. -
XBUS light electric modular utility vehicle 21 Nov 2021 (Forum)
Apparently no special tools are required. It has an 'in hub' electric motor in each corner and the standard battery pack will give a range of up to 200km, but (*) this can be extended with two extra packs to give a range of up to 600km. Maximum speed is quoted as being >100km/h, which is absolutely fine for my needs. -
BMW 2 Series Active Tourer - BMW 225xe plug-in hybrid: owner's diary 1 Jul 2020 (Forum)
But here are some initial findings from the first few days of ownership: -- using 'Max eDrive' mode, which stops the petrol engine kicking in unless you activate kickdown, and delivers up to 78mph on the electric motor alone, I can do my 8-mile round trip commute (which involves NSL dual carriageways and town shuffling) for two consecutive days, and still have about 25% charge left in the battery. Performance in this mode is more than adequate for keeping up with traffic flow, although battery range will be reduced in winter weather. -- the BMW-supplied charging cable would be better if it was 3 feet longer. -
Citroen Picasso and other Models - Citroen Engine Fault Light Problem some solutions 21 Aug 2019 (Forum)
TFLCO is a known Citroen-wide issue that they, so I am told, have never fixed. A GOOD TIP:After you have disconnected the battery for more than half an hour, when you connect it go for a drive of more than 15 minutes ASAP. This 'trains' the ECU to your driving pattern so include, for example, some 60mph and some town work. Captain K
