Those nice safety camera people are stationing a camera van up on the bridge in the 50mph zone, so all be careful. Spotted it when driving eastbound and looked for it westbound when returning from Bristol, but very much out of site west bond as is "hidden" as way over on the left, Take care all and safe driving! -
2007 Hyundai Santa Fe - 1 QT LOW ON OIL CHANGE 28 Jun 2013 (Forum)
My Santa Fe has 20000 miles and the last two oil changes at Walmart indicates one qt low on pre check. I don't drive it very much due to disability, but when I do I drive long enough on hwy to get it to proper temp. I don't have a leak so where is the oil going? At this mileage it sure shouldn't be using oil. This happened on the last two all others show full on pre check, or is Walmart full of it? -
N/a - Noise pollution from buses 27 Mar 2013 (Forum)
Around here the fleet run by FirstBus are rear engined with huge cooling fans behind a grille on the right rear, the fan noise drowns the engine sound as they pull away or grind up the many hills. Years ago I worked on the development of temperature sensing fan drives for heavy trucks, the market for which devices had grown due to noise legislation, based on drive-by tests. Do these limits still appply, or are buses (so beloved of our 'green' masters) exempted? -

Any - Advice needed please - Italian traffic offence 23 Jan 2013 (Forum)
A letter from the Vicenza local Police arrived today. It appears (although it is not entirely clear), that whilst driving an Italian hire car last August, I drove into an area that was restricted? The description (all in Italian) seems to say that a video camera idetified the car I was driving, because it did not have the relevant permit for that area? -

(I had had the mirror folded-back whilst parked, then started the car with the demister switched on...........then 30 seconds after folding the mirror back out whilst driving away.........thump) Is it easy to change the heated ones urself? -
Aftermarket petrol treatment? 11 Jan 2013 (Forum)
Been driving my father's car around this week. Its a 2.5 year old Daihatsu Sirion Automatic with only 8,800miles on it. It drives really well, but starting is not quite as instant as it once was. I intend to consider the battery as well, but I wonder if it could do with some form of cleaning out of the fuel system and cylinder heads given its use for mainly short cold journeys. -
Peugeot 307 1.6 16V 2004 model petrol, automatic - Surging RPM problem 19 Feb 2012 (Forum)
Hello everyone, I have a Peugeot 307 1.6 16V 2004 model petrol, automatic (AL4). Here is the problem: When I am driving downhill in the second gear and at around 1100-1300 rpm, rpm counter surges to 2200 rpm and goes back down where it starts and it does this exactly 3 times whenever I try. It doesn't appear when I am driving downhill in the 2,5th or 3rd gear or higher. -

Skoda Octavia Combi 1.6mpi auto - opinions... 8 Nov 2011 (Forum)
Also, does anyone have any actual fuel consumption figures for this type of car. Would 35/38mpg be realistic? - It will be mostly rural driving, with a smattering of urban and motorway driving. Many Thanks.. -
mondeo 53 2.0 tdci 130ps - 53 Mondeo tdci 130ps - lost some power 2 Apr 2011 (Forum)

EU Directive on Traffic in UK 1 Apr 2011 (Forum)
A report from the EU group that decides European Traffic Regulation throughout the EU has been leaked, which states that the UK "MUST" change from left to right driving by 2020. 1st. of January to be exact. Just like the Swedes did in the 60s. This gives enough time to have steering amended on present vehicles. New ones will already come left hand drive. -
VW Golf 2.0 8v - High Fuel Consumption 30 Dec 2010 (Forum)
I have a 2000 Golf 2.0 8v. If I do lots of city driving or short journeys, the petrol consumption drops from 35 to 25mpg or worse - the engine also starts surging / running rough and there is a smell of fuel from the exhaust. The only way I have managed to clear this in the past is to drive quickly on a downhill stretch of motorway, then take my foot off the throttle and let the engine overrun for as long as possible - say 75mph down to 60mph. -

Mondeo 2.0 GLX Auto - 4000 rev misfire 20 Oct 2010 (Forum)
Fuel pressure, airmass meter, plugs, checked CAT, etc, etc, anyone have any similar experiences? The car is a mk2 auto, and when driving/running at anything less than 4k all is smooth and it's driving well, on increased acceleration over 4k, the engine simply pulses and this affects the auto box, changing it up and down. -
Kia Rio CRDi 29 Aug 2010 (Forum)
Doing about 9k a year, often in urban driving, is this car worth considering as it is cheaper than the Honda Jazz and Toyota Yaris that I am thinking of? -
