  • Chugging Golf 17 Apr 2002 (Forum)
Hi there, I am having problems with my Mk 3 Golf (M plate 95) When I start it in the morning, it starts first time but is really chuggy, then after a while it runs OK. I though it was just in the cold weather but it seems to do it all the time now. It only does it in the morning though??!!? Can anyone help??
  • Bought a 309 14 Apr 2002 (Forum)
Oh and its a bit... hesitant at lower revs, seems to chug a little if I try to accelerate hard. Otherwise its great, in very good condition. Could the dodgy running at low revs be dirty injectors?

I'm thinking of having my car "done" (Ford Escort). I've heard of the valve seat recession problem with Zetec engines, but, what about poorer running, over-heating etc. etc. Any views, opinions graetly appreciated, John

  • Pressure washers 4 Jan 2002 (Forum)
Just read the thread on road salt and again I an thinking of investing in a pressure washer. Hhowever an ex-colleague - who previously used to run his own under the arches type garage - swears that they are not good for your car, strip too much wax, paint and sealant off and blast water where it shouldn't go. What does the team think?
  • Fuel Catalysts 29 Dec 2001 (Forum)
We are running an unconverted Volvo244GLT 2.3ltr.on Lead replacement petrol. We have been advised that the " Broquet Fuel Catalyst" could possibly resolve the problem of using LRP and improve performance /consumption.Does anyone have any experience of this catalyst and would it be worth installing/ using the "in Tank"version..as we are only doing 3000miles per annum??
  • Vauxhall warm starting ...... 14 Sep 2001 (Forum)
Hi, Does anyone have any idea why my '98 V6 Omega is a pain to start on occasion when hot. Not every time by any means, but for example stopping for petrol on a long run can cause it. It will always start in the end, but not first time every time which it does when cold. In anticipation .......... Robert

  • Morris Traveller 5 Jun 2001 (Forum)
I have the opportunity to buy a 1968 Morris Traveller for £250. Although it is running it has no MOT and needs some welding underneath. The body panels and woodwork appear sound and there is not a lot of rust evident though the chromework is poor. What potential problems should I be looking for and what sort of budget would I require to restore it to a good overall condition?
  • Electric Transit on trial 24 Mar 2024 (Forum)
On turning it on it’s immediately evident that it’s also not fit for purpose with an estimated range of just 115 miles! This plummeted to 88 miles after a run of 17 miles in good weather and driven gently. These are around £80,000 yet it’s capable of doing two short school runs with confidence in winter at best, in other words absolutely useless and not good value for the tax payer.
  • Kia Sorento - Kia Sorrento loosing coolant 26 Jun 2023 (Forum)
I hadn't noticed any signs of head gasket failure other than coolant Leak, no overheating, no smoke/smell, no loss of power, no milkshake oil and no bubbling from radiator cap.  Mechanic is saying he pressure tested it over night and is lost pressure and when running cap is rated to 1.1 bar and system is running at 1.3 bar so system is over pressured due to head gasket leaking. I took my own combustion leak test to garage to test and left it in radiator cap for 45 mins and liquid stay blue whole time.
  • Renault Clio - Fuel gauge incorrect 28 Aug 2022 (Forum)
On the trip computer, the amount is reducing since filling up on Thursday and the miles to empty is reducing, so it seems to be remembering the information in the fuel tank before filling up on Thursday. In the past, I have been running low and I have but £10 in just to get me to a supermarket and the gauge doesn't move, so maybe this issue will be something similar and it will sort it self out. if I run the fuel tank low.   I have read about disconnecting the battery and it will reset everything, but need a code to set everything up.
  • Kia Niro Plug-in Hybrid - Plug in Hybrid - a few real time statistics. 23 Sep 2019 (Forum)
Fuel consumption - wise, I charge up the battery once below half charge and always before a long run. In the time we have had the car, we have done 540 miles pure electric - when on electric only trips, the computer shows 999mpg!! Seriously though, t am achieving a fill - fill fuel consumption of 98 mpg.overall.
  • 2007 kia cee'd CRDI 1.6 Diesel - Short on Mass airflow sensor 29 Jan 2019 (Forum)
The car ran as normal at 70 MPH till the speedometer suddenly dropped to zero and I lost power completely. At that time, the engine was still running, but no power was delivered to the wheels and I had to pull over and switched off. After that, I could not switch on the engine and had to call rescue.  The following day, I found a fuse, that is next to the engine is blown.
