M40 closure, Thursday 11 December 27 May 2009 (Forum)
Were any Backroomers caught there? I was just joining at J13 at about 0730 when I heard the first warning on the radio (from BBC Coventry and Warwickshire, which doesn't often mention anything south of the M42, so that got my attention.) Retuning to BBC Oxford, I found they were talking of little else, so I got as far as J11 at Banbury, turned back and went home to work instead. -
Peugeot 406 (1999 - 2004) - 02 2.0HDi Steering Column Switches Indicators, wip 11 Mar 2009 (Forum)
Hi, I am sitting here with a knackered steering colunm switch which incorporates the lights, indicators fog lights on one side and the wipers on the other with the Radio controls being removable. The indicator side is the part that is defective and is non-removable. The local pug dealer has told me that I can fit a new one myself but will then have to take it to the dealership to be reprogrammed. -
Dummies question re 4x4s in this snow 9 Feb 2009 (Forum)
Or is it a case that the likes of the CRV, RAV4, Freelander, etc, simply do not have good enough drive systems for this weather? I remember as a kid back in the 1970s when we had weather like this the local radio station putting out requests from the emergency services for owners of 4x4s to contact them to help out. T. -
Nissan Almera (2000 - 2006) - 2004 1.8 SVE with Sat Nav (screen not working) 24 Nov 2008 (Forum)
My factory fitted radio set on fire. I bought a second hand one, which works fine but there is no display on the centre column screen. This is proving to be a real headache as the Sat Nav wont show up and the Air Con is now on all the time and I can not turn it off, Nissan want a hefty sum to look at it which is money I just don't have. -
Ford C-MAX (2003 - 2010) - 04 1.6 can't hear indicators 23 Jul 2008 (Forum)
Hi Just bought a Focus (C-max) and one of the very few disappointments is that if the window is open more than half an inch or if the radio is on more than half a decibel, I can't hear the click of the turn indicators from the dashboard. It's such a quiet click. Is there any way I can make it louder, e.g. by wiring in an additional relay? -
Pushbikes allowed wrong way on one way streets 6 Jun 2008 (Forum)
I heard an item on radio 4 this morning proposing a trial of this. The guy in favour seemed to be all for it regardless of any arguments against. Tiff Needell put up some very good points against it. I'm a cyclist, and to think of cycling the wrong way against traffic on the roads around here terrifies me, but I understand it's quite common on the continent. -

Driving Instructors 1 Apr 2008 (Forum)
There was a radio advert the other day requesting drivers to become instructors. The only proviso was that you had held a full UK licence for a year. This is the reason why there are so many poor drivers around. They are taught to pass a test. -

Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 05 1.8 petrol hatch .Roof rail rubber inserts 22 Jan 2008 (Forum)
Can anyone advise on how the roof rail rubber inserts are fastened into place , how to take them out and replace. I have a rain water leak which does not appear to come from the windscreen nor from the radio aerial so could there be a leak through into the roof space from this area? There appear to be white plastic pegs from the rubber into recesses in the gulley but do they simply pull out and push back in ? -
Ford - '02 Mondeo Mk III (not MkII !!) dash illumination? 6 Sep 2007 (Forum)
Question for anyone with a pre facelift Mondeo MkIII with climate control. Other than the radio the car has three LCD displays, one each in the rev counter and speedo for trip / temp and odometer etc and one for the climate control. On mine when I turn on the ignition the two in the rev counter / speedo illuminate though the climate one doesnt, it only illuminates when the lights are switched on with the rest of the dash lights. -

Sony Xplod CD/tuner not, erm, tuning 29 Jun 2007 (Forum)
My Astra has a Sony Xplod XR-CA630X stereo fitted (aftermarket) with a 6 CD changer attached. Recently the radio bit has stopped working. When you try and scroll through the functions, it will only offer the CD player and cassette as options. Anyone got any idea as to why this might be the case? CD changer and cassette still work fine. -
1998 Espace RT-X Auto - Dash / Odometer 5 Mar 2007 (Forum)
resets randomly (usually while driving) so I don't know the actual mileage and the trip computer dosn't appear to work properly (I can only reset the mileometer and not get any other info). I also get a problem where the light behind the radio station bit goes off occasionly, although I guess this could be a short somewhere. Anyone have any ideas? Is this a garage job or something to maybe do with fuses and the like. Any and all help appreciated, Nathan -

Peugeot 306 Battery Charging 28 Sep 2006 (Forum)
Or, are there sensitive parts that will object, so disconnecting it first is a good idea? PS I don't know the radio code which I ought to find. -
Red Flag Rule From the Control Freaks 21 Aug 2006 (Forum)
No doubt the police can see this will cause them more agrivation with the general public, ultimately alienating them still further and loosing public support. A few days ago I heard on the radio that there has been at least one new law brought in each day since 1997. No wonder the laws of the land are coming into such disrepute. -- Roger I read frequently, but only post when I have something useful to say. -

Are motoring Journalists that Stupid 24 May 2006 (Forum)
Answer: Suzuki in Hungary Suzuki markets this themselves as a SX4, same engine, same interior, same radio and same everthing except the Logo Badge's and Hub caps. So why do these Journalists go off on the beaten track talking about bigger vehicles as rivals than its sister rival. The same happened a few years ago with the Ford Fiesta, when Mazda put their Logo on them. -
What little finishing touches....... 27 Feb 2006 (Forum)
My top three; 1) The intermittent speed wipers on my C5 that vary with the speed of the car, and so have to be switched off in light rain at high speed, otherwise they just scrape across a dry screen. 2) A clock that assumes that I will never want to know the time if the temperature is less than 4 degrees (when it is replaced by the ice alert). 3) On the positive side - on a car I hired recently: A radio that switches off when you take the key out, not when you switch the engine off. Truly excellent!
