  I had to fit a new battery to my car yesterday and the radio, a Blaupunkt Verona, needs its code re-entering. I thought I could remember how to do it, but obviously couldn't, and now (after three attempts) it won't give me the "Code" message when I switch it on.

  Re-programing the keys (as stated in the owners manual) fixed this for 2 days - but now neither key works! I have replaced both batteries in the remotes and reprogrammed them again - but still neither will open or lock the car. Help! Anyone else experienced this?

  The red light on the key, light's up when the button is held for 2 seconds which indicates that the battery is OK. My local ford dealer has suggested that the code/memory for the remote has been wiped, and it will need to be reprogrammed at a cost of £60 + VAT! From what I understand it is a case of pressing the buttons in a particular order to reprogram it.

  I changed batteries in both key fobs and they are now not working. I have to use the key to open door which sets alarm off then start car pushing  stop/start button with fob to turn alarm off. There is no key ignition.

  Hello After the car has been parked up for a long time tried to start it with good battery and wont start! just turns and turns and turns no chance of fire (full throttle and choke, though it was a good starter last time had it running) Matty with shop at end of road says that after a while the alcohol and the petrol split in the tank and this is causing the problem why cars parked up for a while wont start Any surgestions on getting it fired up for the firs time please (please no more "easy star" surgetions please) Thanks

  Only happens first start of the day then starts fine rest of the day. No engine light to check diagnostic. Garage said battery and glow plugs all fine.

  Hello just purchased the above c3 which suffered power steering failure on 100 mile rtip home. Tried the YouTube fuse F7.. Battery is strong.  Where do I start? I hear there's an ecu which could be the problem.  Can these steering components be used second hand or are they coded. Steering sensor adjustments etc?

  I'd like the Avensis but not sure if it's too big a car for us (wife is not sure about parking it on our drive) so the Auris is smaller and more manageable.My question is, was there any particular the Auris had problems with its automatic gearbox or are they pretty much reliable regardless of year it made? Another question is , how do you tell if the battery in an Auris is at the end of its days? Any help much appreciated as we are weighing up the pros and cons of these two models of cars.

    After 2 months badgering they recommended a kid near Dublin who is not a qualified mechanic and charged €430 to replace one battery, a two-hour job that took 2 days including travel time.  deleted is refusing to do anything further, and Mahindra has so far refused to deal with the situation, after two letters, two emails and two facebook messages.

  Hi all, this car has a new battery, but the starting problems continue, particularly after a run, although no messages or warning lights on dash. Is it possible the alternator is faulty, but not SO faulty that it doesn't throw a dash light, or error code?

  Hi.   The issue has been at random times. It sometimes won't start. Had new battery fitted. Alternator checked. Mechanic checked starter motor. Not sure what the issue is.   I had it three times in one day, then nothing for almost a week.   I took a video to see if anyone could understand the sound.

These are comments which reflect the concerns of many people. Price, range and charging issues are seemingly the main issues. 
• Skoda Fabia Mark 111 1.2 TSI - Fault finding - starting problem 7 Feb 2021 (Forum)
  Completely dead and no dash lights, but electric windows, indicators etc working. The AA checked fuses etc, all ok. The AA disconnected the battery for a few mins and when it was reconnected the engine started immediately and everything was back to normal. I'm booking the car in to have it checked but I'm concerned that nothing will be found and then the problem recurs.

  Hi, I recently (within the last 3 months) purchased a 2016 Renault Zoe - when it arrived it had no working air con/heating (which is needed for the battery charging system to function correctly). The dealer finally got round to 'fixing it', which involved simply regassing the air con system as it was empty. They gave it back to me, despite the compressor making a grinding noise, and lo and behold it's stopped working again less than 24 hours later.

   Can't for the life of me understand why doing a tyre repair would cause this?  any idea folks.  Should I disconnect battery, should I wait a fe days to see if fault clears on its own? I once had a seat belt tensioner fault appear that after 2-3 days cleared itself. Thanks

  Another  Benefit of being at home is I had to change the battery in my smoke alarm.  I actually took the time to look at it a bit closer than usual.  Manufactured in May 2004.  Replace May 2014.    Oops my bad.  It still worked great when I burnt toast etc so I never paid it much attention.

  Has HJ started a real mpg page for battery cars yet.  Perhaps he could start with the new Tesla 3  which according to Whatcar is some 27% shy of Tesla figures in the real world ie some 90miles out of a claimed 329.  Similar figures are for Hyundai and Audi and the rest.

  The remote locking controller packed up this monring on the main key, but the spare remote works OK. I've changed the battery on the faulty unit but this makes no difference.  The manual says you can reprogramme these remotes in the ignition barrel by holding one button down with the ignition on for 1 second.

      But recently i have noticed how terrible my lights are when they are on dipped and have on some occassions watched them go down, like when a battery runs out on a torch.    The car still holds a charge okay and starts as well as can be expeccted for an old dci,    Anyone have any ideas at all?    Many thanks
