Not wishing to upset the apple cart over at the other thread so I started this one. One of these A1's passed me on the A12 this morning- white with Essex dirt on it.. Man are they ugly. All they say to me is look I'm a pretentious badge snob with no cash. Traveller chic if you like. -

Headlights 8 Feb 2012 (Forum)
My S-Type has 5 billion watt Xenon's fitted to it, the 406 was upgraded to similar bulbs years ago so its been a while since i've been in a car at night with normal lights. The other night i was a passenger in my girlfriends S40 with normal lights and i couldnt believe how rubbish normal headlights are on your typical unlit dual carraigeway. -
All models - Dmf 30 Jan 2012 (Forum)
Hello all, Dmf s seem to get a lot of bad press these days, as the owner of two diesel cars which are both under warranty what signs are there to indicate a failing dmf. I was pleased to note that the vauxhall salesman from which the diesel corsa came from went to great lengths to highlight the issues with modern diesels before selling it to me. -

snatch back - "Log book loans " could seriously damage your 13 Sep 2011 (Forum)
With these companies its only a volantry code of practice to register the loan against the vehicle so many poor unsuspecting buyers can buy a s/hand car only to have it snatched back with no recompence ! Be-warned -
BMW 3 Series Coupe - BMW 335i & 335D Flooded market 28 Jun 2011 (Forum)
HI, I started to look at Bmw 335's and noticed that there are a large number of them for sale, and looking at honest john auction seem to be going through the auctions quite low. I assum then that would you expect that the price of these cars to drop in value, as you talking £13-15k for a 3 to 4 year old car? -

Vauxhall Cavalier (1988 - 1995) - phuts out at junctions. 9 Aug 2010 (Forum)
This a.m. it wouldn't easily start after driving for 3 miles then waiting for 5 minutes, also when waiting at junctions the engine has a tendency to run slower and slower then stop (seems to re-start OK, mostly, occarional repeated attempts needed). Any ideas what's up? If any further info. would be useful I'll try & give it! s -
Hosepipe ban 9 Jul 2010 (Forum)
I think we have water piped down to our part of Yorkshire from Northumberland now - also limescale in taps, that we never had before with our soft, brown peat water off the Pennine moors. Tough though to be in the North West if you`re a keen gardener. What`s it like down South? oilrag -
Bridgestone Motorcycles Not Tyres! 5 May 2010 (Forum)
I was wondering if anybody in this forum has/had/remebers the Bridgestone 350 GTR? I saw a s/h one many moons ago (well around 1974/5) in a dealers. He suggested it was nearly as fast as a as the Bonneville of the same era. I cannot recall seeing one since. A few years ago I did see a 175 single at a classic vehicle show. -
An Easter DIY oil change? 3 Apr 2010 (Forum)
You know - to be sure it`s done right and so that you can lay in bed visualizing clear golden oil - nectar of the gods - floating the crankshaft and so on. A tub of Mobil 1 (bought at discount last Autumn) is handy and circa £10 for a filter spun by Italian craftsmen out of the finest material. -

Drink driving penalties harsher in the past? 7 Jan 2010 (Forum)
I picked up a little book on motoring printed by Autocar way back - interesting info on road tax, insurance costs etc. in the 1940's. I was particularly struck by a statement that at that time (1949) the fine for being drunk in charge of a car was £50, which is not remarkable, but what did seem odd was a note that a life disqualification and 6 months jail had often been added to the fine. -

Hi everyone. My daughter bought a new Kia Ceed s 5 door for a total price £9300 December 2008,on finance. She has done about 13000 miles in it. She is now realising that it is tough to make the payments and is thinking of selling it and buying an old banger. -
Old cars, modern fluids. 1 Dec 2009 (Forum)
To sort out a debate we had in the office today. Are modern fuels and oils beneficial for old cars? If a common pushrod engine from the mid 60?s (Ford Zephyr for example) were to be completely rebuilt as original and then run using synthetic oil and modern fuel (with lead replacement additives if required), would it fare much better now, mile for mile than it would have when it was new?
