Reliability: 528i vs S-Type 15 Nov 2004 (Forum)
Hi all, a friend is current looking at 5 year-old (1999 S/T/V) RWD automatic with 100k on the clock, large saloon at £5-6,000 to replace his 10 year-old Scorpio. He has narrowed down to BMW 528iASE or Jaguar S-Type 3.0SE auto. Would anyone kindly comment on the 1) which is more reliable? -
Rover 75 v Passat 130 Diesel s/h 20 Apr 2004 (Forum)
Interested in Passat tdi 130 s/h, and interested in readers experiences with both the Passat and the Rover. Do-able s/h for £8k ? - I am going to clock up a mega mileage, so 50k would be OK. Somewhat concerned about running costs on the Rover - the VW can be serviced at my local Skoda dealer, and of course lots of parts are on the Superb, too (thinking more in terms of broken headlamps, mirrors or electrical bits). -

Most people wil hav eheard today of the case where a woman in Lincolnshire was found guilty and jailed for 2 years, for causing the deaths of her daughter and her daughter\'s friend in an accident. clearly the mother\'s behaviour was stupid in the extreme but in the reporting of the case it was mentioned that the two girls were both thrwon from the car and found ead in a roadside ditch. -

Cat S - What to do? 31 Mar 2021 (Forum)
Now what I think should had happened is that we send our log book to the insurers so they can take temporary ownership of the car so they could sell it back to us as a cat-S. I don't know if we should be proactive and directly tell the DVLA that it is now category S and inform our insurers that we are supposed to send their log book. Personally I would be happy if the car remained in they grey area (as this all never happened) as it seems that having your car classified as cat-S means it can be difficult to re-insure for the future. -
Ford Fiesta 1.25 2000 - N/S driveshaft removal from gearbox 10 Nov 2020 (Forum)
I’ve removed the O/S driveshaft but it’s not possible to drift the N/S driveshaft out from the other side, as there’s something between them in the way. I’ve tried levering with large screwdrivers and crowbars but the webs on the casting make it difficult to get enough purchase and I've hit the wall with that approach. -
Motoring memories - tricks of mind via artifacts 29 Jan 2010 (Forum)
What can you think of that`s a `solid` memory - embedded in the golden days of earlier life? R Hanson`s coal trucks negotiating that steep bend on Durkar Lane - Crigglestone W Yorks. There! In the gutter gleaming - large ball bearings from their wheels - now here`s the thing. -

American anger over BP oil leak 29 Jun 2010 (Forum)
Best start filling up at BP stations to prop them up - I suppose ;-) Yawn.. Yeah, I know it`s the environment - but what`s wrong with constructive US support for BP - when all that can be done, seems to be being done? And that it seems likely that they will consume it all anyway, once it`s fixed and piped ashore. -
Long gone parts availability. 1 Feb 2010 (Forum)
You know how it is. Anything more substantial than an oil filter and it`s got to be ordered in. An exaggeration perhaps? Yes, but not much. Contrast that situation, with our local BMC parts dept in the 60`s. I was in regular contact with the affable bloke at the parts desk - in the massive dealership, in town. -
